Maiden of the Moon

(I usually do my replies in first person, but for this first one I'll do it in third. I hope it's okay that I god mod Jack just a bit)

It wasn't often the Man in the Moon called the guardian's together, though when he did everyone knew it was important. Bunny hopped along quickly while North traveled with the other's to Tooth's castle, the place Man in the Moon requested they gathered.
Night had fallen on the beautiful meadow which swept up the valley walls which surrounded Tooth's castle. Golden petals opened gently to bask in the moonlight while Tooth continued to direct her fairies in all directions to gather teeth from children, though you could hear the slight worry in her voice. Try as she might, she couldn't hid it as she fluttered around nervously, glancing up at the moon now and again to try and understand what was going on.

"Tooth, good to see ya." Bunny stopped in front of her, smiling his bunny grin before North landed the sleigh, with him Sandman and Jack jumping out to join the group. "Oh it's good to see you all!" Tooth gave each a hug before glancing up at the moon- it was then that North took charge.
"Man in Moon! Good to see you." His Russian accent thick, a smile spread across his face as he opened his arms wide, like to welcome his friend into a hug. This warm and friendly gesture didn't last long, however, yet before he could ask Jack spoke up.
"Yeah, long time no talk. You've been awful quiet." The Man in the Moon was quiet for a moment, leading the guardian's to exchange glances of confusion.
"Man in Moon." Santa spoke again, this time his voice soft but still demanding as he asked "Why do you bring us here? What is wrong?"

It was then the Man in the Moon explained that a new guardian had been chosen, though she would need help until she could find her powers- that's all he revealed, as he said, for the time being, for that's all they needed to know.
"What do you mean another guardian?! Another rookie!? We already have one, mate. He's bad enough as it is." Bunny didn't mean it, pointing over to Jack with his boomerang before hopping on the sleigh, as if he was trying to get closer to the moon to intemadate him, pointless as it was he still continued to shout.
"Where is this guardian?! I'll tell em' right to their face- they aren't needed. We have a job to do and that job isn't to teach lackies." Looking around for the guardian Tooth suddenly asked "Yes, where is this guardian? Who is it?" These were good questions- none of them knew who this person was. Unlike Jack, when he first became a guardian, they hadn't seen nor heard anything of this person to begin with.
Another moment of silence from the moon and they realized they weren't going to know unless they took the new one under their wings. With a sigh Santa rubbed his head, looking up at the moon with defeat. "Fine. We will take care of this 'guardian'. . .Man in Moon, we will trust you, like we always have."
That seemed to be enough for the man in the moon; next thing they knew the moonlight seemed to grow a bit brighter. Shielding their eyes a bit they started to see a figure form in the rays of light, becoming more and more solid as it came closer. Bunny was the first to realize it was falling slowly, the figure of a small child- maybe a teen- not to much younger than Jack. Holding out his arms without much thought Bunny let the small figure fall into his grasp. Suddenly there was a very real human looking girl. At first glance she really did look nothing more than a human girl, fast asleep against Bunny- the only thing that seemed different was the very faint mark of a crescent moon on her forehead, hiding behind bright wildfire hair.
"This is a guardian?" Bunny whispered, surprised to see such a small and frail looking thing. Then, to his surprise, she opened her eyes- how stunning they were. As bright as the moon, a blue tint to it but more like white ice color. They looked up at him, burned into him it felt like, then she jumped away and fell to her feet. She looked around her, frightened and confused- it was written all over her face.
She started to look around every which way until she finally looked up and stopped. She didn't move but the expression on her face turned from frightened and confused to more of understanding but still slightly frightened. It seemed like she was letting things set it, and as she stood there, gazing up at the moon the Man in the Moon spoke to them, telling them that this was Cynthia- Maiden of the Moon. The Maiden of the Moon paid no more attention to her fellow guardians as she walked forward a bit, seeming to be almost to the brink of tears now as she slowly shook her head.

"No. . .No. You. . .You promised . . .You promised I didn't have to go until I was ready." Her voice was soft and small, but the man in the moon heard her. Once more, he said nothing, and this brought the tears flowing down her face, which like her eyes were stunning and magical; sliver in color and slightly glowing. "You tricked me!! You put me to sleep!!" She was furious now, her voice was no longer so quiet and small but raging.
Then, what seemed to be out of no where, the sun started to slowly rise. The moon slowly started to fade behind a tint of blue sky and what was once anger was now panic. "Wait! Don't go!!" Man in the Moon continued to say nothing and soon faded away, leaving poor Maiden in a world she knew nothing of, a world she had only glanced at from afar and dreamed of seeing, but right now felt it had been to soon, felt abandoned and lost in this strange place- already homesick.

Jack went over to Cynthia, resting a hand on her shoulder. "Don't you worry about a thing, Cynthia. If the man in the moon sent you, he thinks your ready. Trust me, I should know better then anyone else. Now, why don't we all sit down and talk this thru? Right guys?" He looked around at the others, telling them to jump in at any time. Sandman floated over and nodded, making smiley faces and rainbows with his sand. He was trying to make her smile in his own special way while the others got their grips back and jumped in.

In the human world a young woman was running along roof tops, chasing after what looked like a black shadowy thing. This was a new thing for the protector to run into. At first she thought it was a nightmare from the boogie man, but then she didn't see sand, just dark energy. She knew something was up so she tried to chase it down but as anyone watching could see, she was having a hard time. She pulled out one of her twin blades and said "I'm not in the mood tonight to chase you! I'm suppose to have a meeting with my boss, the man in the moon!" She swung her blade and white energy shot out, hitting the creature and causing it to hit the ground. She nodded and walked over to it, putting her blade away. "Now, that's more like it. I don't like running around London like a dog chasing its tail. Now what are you" she bent down and turned the thing over. Then she jumped back. It had the body of a fairy, but it didn't have a face. She moved farther back, suddenly knowing what she was dealing with and wishing she wasnt. The thing got up and looked at her slowly, like a broken toy. She cursed in welsh and said "a fallen moon fairy....which means very bad news for the guardians...." She pulled her blade out again and said "if I can't beat this thing....man in the moon I'm sorry....I won't let you down" she ran at the thing and cut it in half. It fell to the ground, then suddenly shot up and hit her full in the chest. She cried out, dropping her blade as the creature vanished inside of her, causing her to cry out in pain and hold her chest. She saw her skin starting to turn black and said " no...not me...I won't be one of your puppets....not this time!" She cried out and her energy burst from her, lighting up the sky in a pillar of white energy. The fallen moon fairy cried out in pain then vanished, returning to its master. The protector stood there panting, feeling weak and drained. But when she looked down she saw a dozen small gashes all over her body, the spots the fairy shot out of to escape its death. She fell to her knees and said weakly "man in....the moon....his back..." Then she hit the roof top, blacking out.

Jack suddenly turned from Cynthia, getting a really sick feeling in his heart. "Guys? Does anyone else feel that?" Sandman nodded as tooth said "like I just lost a best friend....what could have happened?" Jack shook his head and said "I don't know...but we should find out"

Maiden-
Feeling a hand on my shoulder I jumped, turning to smack the hand from my shoulder; that was until I saw who's hand it was. Now, never before had I met someone who looked more my age, but what was more surprising was just the boy himself. Like the Man in the Moon he had white hair but he was, well with lack of better words, beautiful. It took me a moment to realize I was staring, but once I did I gently shrugged his hand away while my gaze turned towards the rabbit.
Once again I found myself staring at the large animal, realizing he had been the one to catch me. Looking back at me he gave me a look that sort of told me he didn't know what to think of me, much like I didn't know what to think of him. However, I knew something, he was really soft and warm. Next glancing at the very pretty fairy and the large man with 'Naughty' and 'Nice' written on his arms I finally turned my attention to the small glittering man. Looking at each other he gave me a warm, rather friendly smile as he waved hello then motioned me to come down to his level. For some reason I listened to him, yet instead of saying anything like I thought he would he gently touched my cheek, wiped away my tears, then taking my hand in one of his he gently patted it, as if to comfort me.
In a strage way it worked, even a bit, for a second I smiled back at him. Realizing he didn't talk it was strange to notice I knew exactly what he was trying to get across to me. Right now I didn't need words anyways, so it was nice in a way, what he was doing actually made me feel a bit better.
Well, it had anyways, but suddenly the five of them started to talk about suddenly feeling something, feeling as if they lost a friend.
"Well come on then!" The large Russian man suddenly called, hopping into his sleigh, looking back at the rest of us. "You, Maiden, will ride with me." He gave a slight warm smirk of a smile which hid some sort of smugness to it. It kind of worried me why he was smiling like that, but the little man- still holding my hand- gave me a reassuring glance before leading me in a gentlemanly fashion into the sleigh.

"Bunny! Want a ride?" Santa laughed, and the bunny- who apparently was called Bunny- answered with a large frown and a glare. "No thanks North." So far I knew two of them, and I was sure along the way I would learn the rest.

"Suit self." North shrugged, turning to his reindeer before giving a loud shout, a flick of the reigns, and suddenly we were off. Believing my stomach was quickly falling out of my body I held on tight so my whole body wouldn't do the same- wouldn't want to fall out of the sleigh just like my tummy did. Yet in a strange way I enjoyed it, not one moment went by where my eyes weren't wide open trying to take everything in as we suddenly went though a portal and arrived in a city, the darkness of night cloaking us.

Jack jumped into the sleigh next to maiden,smiling at her. "Don't worry. I know he looks really scary but his a great, friendly guy once you get to know him" he moved up to north and whispered "hey, I know we are just checking it out, but you have any idea what could have happened?" North shook his head and said "not know. Could be a many different of thing...but with this feeling we have, something bad happen somewhere" he looked around and said "I think ve found the source of our feelings yes?" He pointed to a roof top where they could see left over energy. Tooth was flying next to the sleigh and touched the floating particles. "It's like....moon light, but not moonlight. Like a light thing, but solid" jack smiled at Cynthia and said "north? Shall we go take a look?" North smiled and said "right" he cracked the reigns and lead the sleigh to the roof top where they spotted a figure laying on the ground. Tooth flew ahead and landed a few feet away from the the figure when she stopped and moved back. "Jack, north, there's blood" the sleigh landed and jack jumped out, running to tooth. "Whoa....whatever happened here, it was bad" suddenly a hole appeared and Bunny jumped out, looking around. "Sorry, took a wrong...whoa mate, what happened?" Bunny walked over to the figure then turned it over. They all stared. It was a woman. And she was in really bad shape. Tooth after a while asked the question they were all thinking. "What happened to her? And why did we feel it"

Maiden stayed put, feeling her fluttering heart go back to a normal tempo. Not sure if she should go along or not she stayed in the sleigh, thinking about what was going on. It was when they pointed out the blood that Maiden's curiosity got the better of her. It pulled her out of her seat to quietly walk towards the others, yet once she saw what was wrong she sprung into action.
The moon had special powers, powers you got just by living there for awhile. One power Maiden had obtained that had been from the moon itself was healing. It wasn't just her, everyone who had ever stayed on the moon had this power for the moon itself had the power. Standing under a full moon could do wonders for you, but having someone from the moon heal you- why you would be fit as a fiddle!

"What you doing?" North asked, though when Maiden didn't answer him Sandman stepped in. Maiden was to busy consentraiting, squeezing her eyes tight as she let her hands rest on the wounds. Feeling bad she tried to make this quick so the woman wouldn't have to have her touching fresh wounds; something she was sure didn't feel well at all.
Thankfully Maiden healed her enough to where at least the bleeding stopped. More power would be needed, yet she wasn't fully capable of unleashing it all- even if it was the moon's power rather than her own. Sighing softly she looked at her bloody hands, looking away to stare at the others before looking back down at the woman. "Well, she's breathing at least." Bunny said, though none of them still quiet understood why they knew she had been here.

After Maiden had healed up as much as she could, Tooth knelt down and said "Bunny, help her sit up" He nodded and picked the woman up slightly, sitting her up and leaning her against his fuzzy shoulder. They all watched her as the woman started to stir, fighting to open her eyes. Then slowly she did, her vision blurred as she looked at them all. "ITs back...the dark side...its back...have to warn...moon..." She fought to get up and Jack moved over and said "Whoa, easy ms. You took a pounding. YOu need to relax and let us help" She shook her head, slowly getting to her shaking legs and swayed as she stood. "Have to protect...the guardians...can't waste any more...time...his back...and stronger then before...have to warn...them and man in...the moon..." She fought to walk as North looked at the others. "If she knows Man in the Moon, it would explain why we felt she was in danger. We are all linked by the power of dreams...maybe she has a link in that chain too" Tooth asked "But who is she? I've never seen her before and I have been all over the place." Bunny rested a paw on her shoulder and said "Hold on, lass. You are safe with us. We can help you. We are the guardains" She stopped and looked back at them, her eyes looking dull despit the fact she was trying to keep going. "The...Guardians...of the childern...there could still be hope...to save this world..." Then she shuttered and her legs buckled under her, causing her to fall forward. She fought to stay awake but the damage was done. She hit the ground and blacked out, the last thing she heard were the gaspes of the ones she swore to protect.
