The city has been closed of from the rest of the world, leaving the residents to live out their normal lives in total ignorance of what is in store for the city. You go about your days normally as well, although you realize something is definitely up when a young boy sort of... "drops in."

This is an idea I had with ten supernatural test tube beings, each with a special "gift." They've been thrown in a random city and told to survive, even protect the public if they wish. The main character, Michael, was the last accepted subject and has the roman numeral "X" tattooed in the small of his back to prove it. He does just as he's told, not seeing much out of life until another adult man (preferably dominant, but not a big deal) and has to lead him out of harm's way, not knowig the harm that Michael could deal out as well. As for the normal citizen, I was thinking of someone definitely older than Michael, like in his 30's, someone who can teach him about normal life and attempt to protect the child-like young man, despite the fact that he could ultimately pose as a threat to mankind. The story will consist of romance as well as trying to learn why he was made as well as these other subjects and why they are being tested. It's a mystery/romance/fantasy/scifi/... Well, you get.
