    Pokemon: Apokelypse (IC)

    OOC

Pokemon training and Pokemon battles have now been deemed as animal abuse by activists. The gyms in the Kanto region have been shut down as a result of this. Because of this, a new way of making money was thought up. Underground Pokemon battles to the death. These battles take place in empty lots, and underground clubs where people place bets on the winning Pokemon. The organizers of these death matches quickly gain enormous wealth. Gangs of hoodlums work in service of the rich men to trap and capture Pokemon so they're used in these fights. Old Pokemon trainers are forced to either give up their Pokemon, or are threatened with their lives to use them in the death matches. The police force has become useless as they're easily bribed to look the other way. Several people have stood up against the actual abuse of Pokemon and teamed up to take action against these cruel people by putting them out of business. But it doesn't seem to be enough.

Team Rocket has greatly benefited from these new changes in the Pokemon world. Their leader Giovanni is now one of the most powerful men in the region. He is virtually untouchable by those who want to take down his wretched organization as he is always surrounded by bodyguards. Giovanni has men on the inside of the groups of those who try and do good so he's able to bring them down. This is why these groups aren't successful in their mission to restore Pokemon battles like before.

Given that Saffron City is the biggest city in the Kanto region, that's where we'll start.

An soul breaking silence, in a cold, dark and wet cell. With only faint light comming in from a window, thought not fully silent nor yet fully cold. The body nearby was very warm, and the sounds its heartbeats was like comforting drumbeats to a melody in the silence. Thought as they walked up the path smeared in blood with only a single stand of water to wash your wounds. The silence would soon break into loud cheering as we came closer to the doors. Opening the door leading out into the arena, and up the short path to the barred gate blocking the entrance for just but a moment. But we was without fear, no emotions at all, no matter who we would face, we both knew that there was against none we could not prevail. And as usual the loud voice would soon break above the roaring crowd. "Hailing from the northern continent coming all the way here, we have a new challenger...With her Lovely looks and an equally lovely looking Pokémon...we have Trish...and her Glaceon.....Blue!....Against her, with a slight turn of bad luck...For our new challanger....We have!....Coming from our own Arena......The Ruling Champion.....KAISER VON DEATHCLAW!.....And his Trainer.....VICTOR!...." Among the almost exploding roars and cheers that followed you could hear those drawing their breath in a gasp. Holding and betting on this new girl that had gotten a slight win streak they was now worried that it would be crushed....

That was the life here, you never knew who or what you would face next. The only thing I cared about was to keep those up there cheering, and the two of us alive...Climbing the back of Kero, we were ready. To slaughter the opponents if the crowd pleased so, both of them was our opponents, Human and Pokémon alike. And we would kill them if we had to, without regret or remorse. There would be no Mercy, From this moment on. There would be four of us in total, but only two would ever walk away if none said otherwise....

    This....Our Arena....Our Home....Our...Place to Rule....

The sun started to shine through the clouds, as the first half of the day had been cloudy. Uri stopped by at a local cafe, settling into one of the outdoor tables set up for those that prefer to dine outside. Out from in between his shoulder, he placed the daily paper down on the table and looked through the front page. Nowadays, it wasn't uncommon to find a story on the atrocities of Team Rocket making front page news. Uri read the article while he waited for his food to arrive. For the past few months, he had been followed by Team Rocket for being the sole person responsible for taking down a couple of their underground death match spots. A failed assassination attempt occurred shortly after the takedown of the first one when a wrongly timed explosion went off in his apartment. The gas lines in his apartment were intentionally cut, and a spark trigger ignited the explosion. Uri saw the explosion as he was entering the building. Minor injuries from the neighbors, but no deaths. But what was lost were some of Uri's precious momentos. Trophies, awards, irreplaceable items. Uri decided not to be vengeful. His revenge would come in due time in the form of taking down Team Rocket.

    "Here you go sir."

    "Thank you."

Uri dragged his plate closer to him and picked up his utensils, setting the paper down. As he lifted the fork up to his mouth, he took a bite from his food and looked around. Not to see if he was being followed, but things have changed so much since Team Rocket came to power. The world had suddenly become grey, lifeless. Pokemon used to be adoring companions, now they were merely commodities that were deemed useless when they were no longer able to battle. This was not the world Uri wanted for the youngsters that were growing up in this time. Unfortunately, they're going to grow up with the notion that it's OK to send your own Pokemon to their death for the sake of earning some cash. Taking a sip from his drink, Uri's eyes moved to the side, gazing at the picture that went along with the front page story. It was of a Rhydon headbutting a Houndoom. Uri knew that the horn of the Rhydon had impaled the Houndoom. Blood was also seen on the floor that looked fresh. Uri didn't know which part of the picture was worse: The Pokemon fighting to the death, or the crowds going nuts with their dirty money grasped in their hands.
