    High-School is a Battlefield

Beep. Beep. Beep Alexander slowly opened his eyes to the sound of the ringing alarm, just as he woke up more sounds became apparent to him. The ruckus made by his father getting everyone up before he had to head off for his own job as an architect with a private firm. The spit and sputter of whatever it was his mother was cooking downstairs. His younger sister crying, her young mind craving attention and his older sister, well... She was still asleep from the sound of it, or rather it should be said the lack of sound. Taking a quick glance at the alarm clock his eyes widened, "Six in the morning?" He asked himself, inquisitively. "What the-"

"Alex!" His father howled, causing Alex, still in bed to jump so hard that he literally fell out of the bed, the man's roar had caused his younger sister to cry even louder and in a more hysterical fashion.

"I'm coming!" He reassured his dad before bringing himself to get up from the carpeted floor which at this stage, he was almost ready to fall back asleep on. As Alex stood up straight his phone began to vibrate heavily on the desk that sat in the corner of his room with his sister's laptop resting on it. From next to his bed he could just make out what the notification said. A heavy feeling of dread and disappointment washed over him like a bitter cold ocean wave as he came to the sudden realization that his summer of lazy relaxation with no one and nothing (other than particular family members) to bother him; had ended.

Alex made his way to the pile of clothes that lay strewn in one side of his room as he decided today was not the day to get a mouthful from his dad. Pulling on a white t-shirt with a colorful pair of headphones printed onto them he looked down at the top, not wanting to look like a clown. Across the headrest of the headphone print was written 'Dirty Beatz', he decided it was suited. Exchanging his grey sweat pants, which had become his pajamas over the summer with a pair of dark grey denim jeans, slightly faded at the knee and they had a men's straight leg shape to them. As he was so slim he had to tie his black belt to a relatively impressive tightness to make sure they wouldn't sag down too far. Peeling apart his curtains he decided it was too bright outside which in turn registered as warmth to Alex and so avoided putting on a hoodie or jacket. Slipping into his unbranded skate-shoes that sat by his bedroom door he exited his room and his nostrils were immediately filled with the numerous scents associated with a fry.

After overhearing an argument between his parents from the upstairs landing, Alex decided it might be best to skip breakfast... He wasn't hungry anyway. Making his way back into his room he sat down on his bed and took the box of 'Amberleaf' tobacco that rested on his bean-bag chair. Rolling a cigarette he scavenged his bed for a lighter, finally finding one stuck between the bedside and the mattress he lit it up and took a long drag. Pushing open the window next to his bed he laid back to finish the smoke. Extinguishing the cigarette he brought himself to sit up and turn on his 'Playstation 3'. A game called 'F.E.A.R 2' was in the console already and in his mighty laziness he decided this was the game he would play, not wishing to grab another game from his desk.

((Will finish this later but feel free to start)).

Xavier leaned up abruptly, hearing a knock at his door. "XAVIER! It's time for school!" he heard his little sister, Lenora say. "Fine, fine!" he yelled back, "I'll be ready in a little bit!" He hopped out of bed, and looked down, his bed was a mess and his pants were all sticky and such. Not again... he said thought to himself, These dreams just get worse and worse! He shook his head, and headed across the hall for a quick cold shower.

Quick shower, check. Xavier thought to himself as he exited the shower. "XAVIER! Hurry up in there!!!!" he heard Lenora yell as she banged on the door. He groaned, and looked in the mirror, "I would shave... But I don't think Lenora would let me have the time..." He walked out of the bathroom, ignoring his little sister's yelling, and walked back into his room.

He pulled off his towel, and looked up, realizing his window was still open. "Ugh..." he groaned, "Why does this happen?" He quickly shut his curtains, and walked over to his hamper. "Hmm... Nope!" he said, tossing out a white shirt that his parents gave him. He dug around a bit more, and pulled out a pair of black skinny jeans and a plain black shirt, "That's more like it!" He put on the clothes, and grabbed his glasses and piercings, and put them on as well. "And now the hair!" he said to himself, before walking over to his mirror and styling his hair into a sorta faux-hawk style.

Content with his look, he grabbed his mallet bag and backpack and got out of his room. "Lenora! Come on, we're gonna miss the bus!" he yelled. "Oh why don't you just learn to drive already!" she yelled back. Xavier rolled his eyes at her comment, before walking over to her room, "Hurry up!" "Don't come in here!" she yelled. His eyes, furrowed, "What the hell?! Why not!?" With this, he threw open her door, and looked at his sister, just sitting on her bed with some sort of book in her hand. "Oh come on!" he said, before grabbing her hand and her bag, and pulled her out of her room, and outside to wait for the bus.

The clock's red numbers mocked her as she turned over to face them once more. 5:45 AM. Nobody was awake at this hour. Groaning loudly, she sat up and peeled back the dark purple comforter she slept under. The slender female crawled out of bed, grabbed a cherrywood box from under her bed, and then sat back on the mattress. The box was opened to reveal any stoners dream, a ziplock bag full of weed and a stack of papers next to it. There was a lighter hidden in the drawer of the end table her alarm clock sat on.*

Zeke Abernathy took her time rolling a joint. She had smoked so much in the last week that she knew the green herb wouldn't put her to sleep. Instead, it would give her some inspiration to draw. She rolled up a nice one and grabbed the lighter from its hiding place. Lucky for her, her father left for work at 4am and her mother wasn't in the picture anymore. The 18 year old hadn't seen her mother since she was 7. Not like she cared. Zeke lit the papers and took a long hit.*

Once she was nice and buzzed, Zeke pulled her sketch pad from her end table and started to draw. This would go on until her alarm went off at 7:30 for her to get ready. She chose to wear a long sleeved top and jeans instea of her usual short sleeves and shorts. She pulled her long dark hair into a braid and let it hang over her shoulder. She grabbed her phone, her backpack, and a few others things as she left the house. Once in her car, Zeke opened up the middle console in her car and took out a metal cigarette case. She popped it open and grinned at the contents; two fat blunts and a few menthol cigarettes. School was going to be fun this year.*

While other students were barely waking up for school, Logan and the rest of the cheerleading squad were already at the school practicing. He picked up his legs and increased his speed as he was running around the track with his other teammates. He breathed in and let out slow shallow breaths as he kept up his pace. Before every practice, they entire team did laps to warm them up. They soon made their way to the grassy area that was in the center of the track where most of the other sports practiced at. Every now and then, a couple of football guys would pass them by saying what they did wasn't a sport. If only they new the gymnastic and strength training they did, a football player wouldn't stand a chance. Like the old Cheerio saying goes 'If cheerleading was any easier, it would be called football.'

It was Logan's senior year of high school and he made it his mission to make the best of it. He was already worried because he didn't have a date for prom and some of the gay or bisexual guys in school weren't exactly out. He had dated a football player who wanted their relationship to be a secret which didn't work out too well. Now Logan was single and ready to mingle. He bent over and stretched his legs and his hamstrings, trying to loosen himself up to do their routine. Meanwhile their cheer captain was yelling out the new things she wanted everyone to try, getting a nod from Logan. There was only a 3:2 ratio on girls and guys on the team, girls obviously having the higher number. As the music turned on, he could hear the school bell ring and lights turn on letting everyone know that it was officially open. Several students were already making their way into school while the cheer team practiced, Logan up front since he was the best male dancer on the team. "Alright team! From the top!"

Alex's alarm, currently some instrumental piece downloaded onto her phone, blared throughout her room. It was unnecessary as Alex had been awake since two in the morning; she left her alarm on not for waking up but for knowing when it was time to transition to her weekday routine. Honestly, who had the time to sleep at night? The night was the best time for accomplishing work. And since she was just now coming down from her caffeine fueled evening, Alex was thankful that the sun was rising and her work was nearly finished.

Alex stood from her workdesk, stretching her arms out to the side. She flicked the switch on her desk lamp, turning it off, and looked over her nightly accomplishments. Spread open on the desk were mock sketches of her ideal outfit for prom or even homecoming if she could finish in time. Or if she was even going to go; why waste time standing against the wall when it is better spent at the sketchpad? But as of now her ideal outfit was just a drawing on paper, if it was going to happen she would have to get more materials. And that would mean asking her parents for yet more favors. Not a good idea, lest she suffer their whole "get a job" speech once more.

Who had time for a job? Honestly.

"Hey dad!" Alex shouted. There was no response. "So can I use the car today?" Again no response. With a sigh, Alex stepped around the paper wads crumpled up and scattered around her floor and walked towards her window. The car was not in the driveway. "Shit." She had told him at dinner yesterday that she wanted to use the car today, not just for getting to school but to carry what free supplies she could get from the theater department. "Thanks for listening, dad." Walking would be out of the question, it was a bit too far and she never wanted to arrive in sweaty clothing, and her cell phone had a grand total of no one who'd be willing to pick her up. "I hate the bus."

A junior with a driver's license and here she was having to prepare to catch the bus to school.

Alex groaned; not much else she could do now. She began her morning preparation, shower, intentionally mussing up her hair, layering her clothes over her sports bra so as better to conceal her figure, and spending far too long picking out the ideal outfit. By the time she was finished, and dressed in her brother's hand-me-down jeans that were still too small for her, breakfast was out of the question. If she had the car as intended a quick stop to get a coffee would've been in order. But today she would have to do without.

Grabbing her backpack, Alex made sure she had a spare set of keys and left the house towards the bus pick up for her block. With any luck it would be the low point of her day.

How dreamlike to see my x-sisters, outside the context of a Papa Song dome. They sang Papa Song’s Psalm, over and over; background hydraulics underbassed that sickening melody. But how jubilant they sounded! Their Investment was paid off. The voyage to Hawaii was under way, and their new life on Xultation would shortly begin... Watching them from the hangway, I envied their certainty about the future.

"Hey look! Someone else got to the bus stop before us!" Lenora said, "C'mon, I need to be bitter at them!" She grabbed Xavier's hand, and started pulling him towards the bus stop. "Stop it! You're gonna rip off my arm!" Xavier pleaded. "Like I care," she deadpanned back. She continued to drag him until the were only a little bit away from the bus stop.

"Now, we're gonna walk over there, and be bitter, I need to leave an impression," she stated. Xavier rolled his eyes, "Why don't you try and not distance yourself from everyone. Maybe you'll get a lady-friend afterwards." She glared at him, and punched his arm, "Ass! I don't need anyone! You need to get a boyfriend!" The siblings continued to squabble, while still waiting for the bus to come.

'Louise come on, you're not funny you know.' Amy let off a loud sigh as she chased her sister around the kitchen table, just narrowly missing her when she dived underneath it and out the other side. 'Mum she's wearing my top!' She could feel her anger building and knew if her Mum didn't intervene someone would end up in tears. 'Oh just let her have it.' The response her mother gave was far from her ideal solution and she let this be known by giving off a facial expression of disgust that was so cliché it wouldn't be surprising if she had been animated by the creators of Looney Toons. 'But that's my designer top! She'll just wreck it.' 'Nu-hu' Her sister's response spiking her anger. Amy stormed off relieving some of her anger by slamming her large wooden door causing it to echo throughout the house.

Her phone's alarm had been sounding since eight o'clock and it was almost eight thirty now, she slammed her hand down on it in anger easily pressing the “end alarm” button as well as many others. 'seventy dollars wasted...' She muttered while aggressively pulling the handles of an oak dresser that sat just behind her door, she pulled out a white tank top and quickly removed her pink pyjama top and slipped into the top which had a large red heart printed on the garments front. Moving to her bed she pulled out a sliding drawer from under it and still phased by anger pulled a short black pleated skirt and replaced her pyjama bottoms with it, from the same drawer she also pulled some red thin tights and pulled them over her once bare legs, once stretched the red colour nullified more and became a tone or two closer to a reddened skin colour.

Whipping her pack of the floor she rumbled down the stairs and twirled around the railing at the bottom landing with an elegant thud, her sister was no longer wearing her top and now in school uniform stood at the door hand in hand with her mother. 'Ready?' She asked Amy, whom stood staring at her sister with an evil expression on her face. 'I can walk myself. I don't need you to hold my hand. Unlike Louise I'm not a baby.' She like most rebellious teens saw nothing more than a parent attempting to ruin her social credibility and rushed past them both and out of the door. She gained momentum and was soon in a full blown sprint, only stopping five minutes from the entrance of the school as she thought people might think of her as weird or overly excited.

Entering the first gate that bore the first of many largely vandalised “Welcome” signs that officially notified you that you were no longer on regular pavement, but on school ground pavement. Smoking, Drinking these things were no longer acceptable, something Amy always found amusing was the simple solidarity of a sign and rules and that those people truly believed that standing on pavement inches outside of the school ground or inches within the school ground made any difference. Throwing what seemingly others would say was caution to the wind she pulled a cigarette from her backpack and giving a quick glance around to make sure none was around she put the cancer stick into her mouth and lit it quickly she inhaled a long breath before spitting the thing out and coughing as her body desperately attempted to rid herself of the poisonous smoke. 'That should do.' She whispered to herself smelling the smoke through her nose with every breath. 'The things I have to do... Disgusting.' She sighed, finding solace that her single minded friends whom all find smoking just the darn coolest thing would continue to accept her.

She strolled past the football pitch quickly taking a glimpse at the cheerleaders doing their rounds, bimbo girls and less than straight guys, she thought her self better than them and raised her chin slightly pretending like always that she was not in the slightest way jealous at the sense of belonging they must have had, something she truthfully prayed for with every fibre of her body.

Alex was rolling her eyes before the pair had arrived; their voices carried. Were these the type of people who took the bus? What a long trip it was going to be. It was too early to be so excitable. Alex stepped back, not wanting to be any closer to the squabbling pair than she absolutely needed to be. They had to be underclassmen, after all who else willingly took this route to school? Had she really cared and had it not meant having to talk with them, Alex would've asked what grade they were in.

Instead Alex sighed and turned her head down the road. Right now, more than anything, she wanted nothing more than the bus to turn onto the road. "Hurry up," Alex muttered, her eyes on anywhere other than on the others waiting for the bus along side her.

"Bitch!" Xavier yelled at Lenora, before slapping her. Their argument quickly escalated into fighting, with one trying to pull the others hair, or slapping the other, before they heard the bus pull up.
"Hey look! The bus is here!" Lenora said, pointing at the bus. "Oh, c'mon!" Xavier said, pulling his sister on his back, piggy-back style, and they walked into the bus like nothing ever happened.

Dylan woke up startled by some pop song he didn't know. He smacked his radio hard and it stopped spewing out the auto tune that haunted his ears. He threw his blanket off of him and slowly stumbled down stairs to find a mug of tea already waiting for him. He silently thanked his mom, who was already out too work, and drank it watching a bird that was outside of his window. The bird was interesting it was feeding its children. There was something about it that seemed blissful. But now was not the time for philosophical statements. It was time to shower and rush to first period. So Dylan grabbed a pair of jeans, boxers and a flannel button up shirt and hit the shower. Upon getting out of the shower Dylan grabbed his favorite hat and went off running to his car. He parked on the road because there was only enough room in his driveway for his mom's car. He got in started it up and drove it too school. It wasn't anything nice; only cost him 3,000 bucks when he bought it at some cheap used car lot.

He was pretty excited for his first day of senior year. Excited enough to actually care about getting to school on time, which was pretty rare for him. One more year and he got to leave this place. His art teacher had always tried to get him to stay for a grade thirteen, however that wasn’t about to happen. Not a chance. Dylan had too much to do once he got out of this place. He was actually pretty sure he’d become the definition of starving artist but he had to try. He decided he’d move to Hawaii and just paint away the rest of his life. It’d be hopefully a peaceful life. But before he even got to get excited about that he had to deal with this upcoming year. He wasn’t exactly popular so prom was another thing he wasn’t looking forward too. But who knows. ‘I could always just spend this year high…’ Dylan thought to himself and laughed, he was an art student after all.

    Thank you Genkai :3
