    The Obselete Man

If something like this is in our future, what time in the future do you think this would happen? Let's say, 20 years? 30 years?
Also, what is your honest opinion of this episode of The Twilight Zone?

Well, the wording used in the episode seems to suggest a military takeover, so likely it would happen in the blink of an eye. Slow erosion of human rights through legislation, on the other hand, would take a lot longer. I'm not going to pretend to know how long, but let's say 75-100 years.

The episode is very well-written and the dialogue and acting are fantastic, as is the case with most of the Twilight Zone series. My only criticism is that the extended bible reading at the end seems to portray atheism as the enemy rather than the actual dictators, but hey, it's 1960's America, that kind of thing is bound to happen.

Oh and I like this episode. The Twilight Zone is usually very interesting.

Funny that you should post this. I'm in that very situation as we speak.

I'd pin that on the suits up at CBS rather than Serling, it being early '60s America and all that.

But, yeah, this is one of the best episodes in one of the best television shows ever.

    Soon. Very soon.

Anyway, the funny thing about this episode is that he is a Librarian, while in another Episode, all he wants is to read.

I noticed that. I actually felt sad for him in that latter episode. In this one, the guy felt like a self-righteous prick.
