Military History

Francis was born to middle-class parents, both of them being engineers in the Carodith Navy. Their talents were handed down to their son, which manifested in many stages. The most prominent one of them being when Francis turned six years old, that was the first time he asked his father to take him to work with him, to which he agreed. The small boy was fascinated with what he saw back there, and from that day he aspired to join the armed forces of the Carodie Republic one day. From that day on, the small boy asked his father frequently to take him into work with him, to which he complied. Francis attended the best tutors his parents could afford to him, and from the beginning of his studies, he was very successful in mathematics, engineering and history. When he turned eighteen, he joined the Guildlea, the Carodith Republic´s Naval Academy, another step towards fulfilling his dreams to join the Armed Forces.

Two years later, as a Cadet Officer, he was assigned to CRS Gloria, a Carodie battle cruiser. There, his qualities as a Commanding Officer were to be tested. He performed his duties well and without hesitation. On the other hand, at his young age, he was prone to do wrong decisions under pressure because of not thinking them over. He was also rather impatient, and often acting on his own. As his year aboard the Gloria neared it´s end, he consulted his superiors about spending another year on the ship before returning to the Academy to his graduations. His superiors, happy to see that we wanted to overcome himself, agreed. Francis´s second year aboard the Gloria was a complete opposite of his first year. He was much more present in the situations, thinking through every order he had to relay to do it in the most efficient way, with very little notes from his superiors. Upon his return to the Academy, he continued his studies at the Academy for another two years. When he graduated from Guildlea, aged twenty two, Francis was able to work himself up to be one of the best officers in his year.

A year later, Francis got his next assignment, this time aboard the CRS Apollo, a battleship in the Carodie Navy. His new assignment was the Gun Commander aboard the Apollo, he carried out his duties with dedication as back on the Gloria. He served a total of eight years aboard the Apollo, becoming popular among the crew of the battleship. However, after eight years, luck departed from the Apollo. In one of the engagements of the ongoing conflict, the gun command center of the Apollo took a devastating hit from the enemy, killing almost everyone in it, leaving a few survivors, Francis among them. He managed to survive the sinking of the CRS Apollo, but lost his right hand, which was replaced by an artificial one. His will, however, remained intact, and two years later, after fully recovering from the incident, he returned to active duty aboard another battleship, the CRS Dauntless. He survived and celebrated victory in numerous battles with the Dauntless, earning fame and recognition for the ship. After he realized the existence of the CRS Phorcys, he decided it was time for a change. After finding a suitable replacement, he handed a request to the Navy command to be assigned to the Phorcys as it´s Gun Commander.

Personality

Francis was a very cheered up, happy child. He loved exploring the world around him since his childhood, a trait that later played a vital role in his decision to join the Carodie Navy. During his school and Academy Years, Francis developed a friendly, open, yet strict and authoritative personality, a necessity for any commanding officer. Years passed and he gained more and more experience about naval warfare, and Francis changed with the years. He grew into a fine Executive Officer aboard the CRS Gloria, an officer who always carried out the orders in the most effective way without being overly harsh to the men serving under him. In his free time, he often spent time with his crew, constantly communicating with them about their opinions on things such as naval warfare, daily life on the ship, or the latest breakthroughs in naval engineering.

After the incident that cost him his right arm, Francis went through a small personality crisis due to his injuries. He was afraid of loosing his ability to act as a commanding officer, but as months passed, he overcome his fear and returned to being his old self. After his return to active duty, he was more initiative, often giving suggestions to his superiors, or altering their orders to a way that allowed the more effective use of the ship´s weapon systems.

Currently the GM of this RP is tied up with some RL things and has asked me to help keep the RP going in his absence. I don't feel comfortable accepting new characters but I am pretty certain he is still looking.
