    Sun and Sky Blessed

The time was nearing two, maybe three hours since the sun had set, eight o’clock she believed the humans called it, or very near to in one of the months during the middle of winter. It was cold, one of those days where your breath turned to mist in the air and frost covered the grass, or at least the small stirps alongside the paths of the large city. Clouds covered the moon, what little of it there was, and those clouds were dark and ominous. A burst of lightning and a crack of thunder peeled across the night sky, before the heavens opened and rain, a freezing cold rain, began pouring down.

It was as if heaven itself were angry, and, considering the events that had just transpired, there was a good chance it was. It was true that god wasn’t overly fond of the angels that had descended to earth and bred with humans, creating creatures called nephlim that he wasn't apparently overly fond of either, but still it was always expected he be angry when something would dare to attack one of his grand children, it was things like this that caused natural disasters to occur. No doubt the freezing rain would come for several days after this.

The incident in question, had been an attack on a nephilim, she had been shot, but had managed to escape immediate threat by taking to the sky. Pain shot through the girl’s body and she didn't manage to get far before she plummeted to the ground, a fall that would have killed the unlucky. Ferin, however, had this strange habit of being ridiculously lucky. The fall didn’t kill her, though it did hurt like... well hell, and she heard a concerning snap. Lying on the ground, on the side of the road in pain the girl groaned and struggled for a few moment, slowly pushing herself off the gravel.

She couldn’t afford to stop. Her right wing, usually a beautiful golden colour in the sun, hung limply at her side, broken, useless. Her right arm also hung limp, blood seeping onto her shirt from the bullet wound to the shoulder. She looked around, spotting a shadow across the road and retreated a few hasty steps, limping slightly and letting out a gasp in pain. She felt cold, and was shivering in the rain, and she tried to evaluate how big of a threat they might be, whether she should run or try to stay and... fight? God she was an awful fighter.

Simon cursed his luck. Someone was pissing off the higher powers the night he parked several blocks away from class. He remembered storms like this, though it might not have been his actual memory.none of his memories, except the times in ancient Egypt, ever remembered seeing the cause of such storms, but he knew them for what they were.

He had his backpack slung over his shoulder, leaving one hand to cup over his burning cigarette, the other to clutch desperately to an umbrella. His long black navy issue trench coat fluttered in the wind despite being drenched from the waist down. With the hood up, he almost missed the movement ahead of him.

He froze a moment in the shadows of a doorway, watching as the pritty winged girl hobbled off the road. Memories clashed with modern thought as he considered his actions. This could be a trap, someone could still be following her, or the humans could see her. Either way, he waited a moment longer. If she was luring him, she would check if he did not follow, if she was followed, he would see her stalkers, or be attacked himself.

Eventually, once she had stood there staring at the dark shadow across the road for a few minutes, evaluated that he was, at the very least, not a threat. Still, she wasn’t sure what he was, so she began retreating further, still very fearful that danger might not be that far away and she was wasting precious moments. Once she had made it about half way down the street, she froze, turning slightly as she heard rushing footsteps through the rain. Two shadows dashed past the form she had left up the street, they were lithe, fast, predatory in their movements.

Ferin turned, clutching her shoulder as she pressed her back to the closest wall, which she recognised immediately as a mistake. Pain shot through her wing and shoulder and she forced herself off the wall, but lingered close as the two shadows stopped either side of her, both raising what looked very much like weapons upon the girl. More lightning and thunder boomed overhead. Ferin slowly raised her non-injured arm in a kind of surrender and took a few steps forwards. Her good wing twitched slightly, her flight response going nuts. It was infuriating, knowing her wing was useless, even more so now that it would mean capture.

Simon was moving as soon as the figures passed him. He folded his umbrella as he followed the shadows silently.when they stopped and lifted their weapons at the girl, he hooked the hook end of his umbrella around the raised arm of the closed figure, pulling down hard to bend the arm behind the things back. At the same time, he kicked up, sliding a little as his force pushed his foot past her and into the face of the other attacker. When he had finished his move, he would be standing with his back to her, still holding the umbrella with the arm hooked back. He wasn't a big Guy, and his power wasn't as great as it would be if he changed, but he was still twice as strong as normal people

Ferin flinched as a man suddenly appeared and took out the shadows that had been hunting her, the two creatures each screeched with an unholy howl before they seemed to evaporate into a dark, smoky like substance and blew away into the air. The girl looked to the new figure before her and slowly sank to the ground, her body quivering in both fear and cold. More thunder and lightning fought overhead, it sounded ominously like it was warning the world. Of what, it was impossible to tell. She was still sitting there, minutes later, just staring before she finally managed to gather her thoughts.

“Um... t-thank you...” She said nervously. Her voice was soft, scared but amazingly sweet and gentle. If honey had a sound, it would likely sound like this girl’s voice. She stood once more, looking at him nervously. She was rather tall for her age, very slender, fragile looking even. Again her good wing twitched slightly. Taking a small gulp Ferin looked fearfully to the person before her, concerned that this new person may be even worse than the shadows that had been hunting her. “I... I think... you’re not... going to hurt me... right?”

He looked her over slowly, his reptilian yellow eyes checking every speck of damage she hay have had. He snorted as she asked her question. "If I wanted you hurt, I would have finished my cigarette, and let those things have you...can you walk?" As he spoke, he was pulling off his jacket and draping it gently over her, being careful around her wing. His jacket was hot, as if it had been sitting on a heater vent all night. He was only in a t shirt under the coat, but seemed unfazed by the cold. "My car is just around the corner."

Ferin looked to him worriedly, but nodded slowly. “Some would think you would have stopped the shadows so you could step in and have your own way. Her soft, golden brown eyes followed him closely as he removed his jacket and placed it over her gently, it still twinged her wing just a bit and she winced in pain but managed to keep herself silent and nodded slowly, pulling the jacket around her, taking relief in the warmth. She followed him slowly, managing to keep up, though it was clear he was walking intentionally slow for her.

She paused at the car, looking to him. “You’re clearly something more than human.” She managed to say before getting in, though she wasn’t sure if he was aware what she was. The wings were somewhat of a giveaway, but it was still not a dead giveaway, just a general idea. She wasn’t entirely sure what this would accomplish, seeing as she had nowhere to go really and she doubted that he was going to offer she stay with him. Once seated in the dry car, Ferin shuddered once more as she offered her hand, which was small and her fingers long and slender. “My name is Ferena Bayer, but I usually go by Ferin. Thank you, again, for saving me. I owe you my life.”

He sat in the drivers seat and turned on the car, letting it warm up before he turned on the heater. It was only then that he paused to think about what he was doing. He looked at her hand as it was offered then finally took it. His hands were smooth and gentle, and despite the lack of gloves, he was warm to the touch.

"Simon. And don't mention it. I take it from your appearance you would rather not go to the hospital, so I will take you to my place. I have some medical supplies there. I'm no doctor, but I'll do what I can. His voice was slow and calculative, bit there was a tired sadness to it. He turned the heater on full and backed out on the street and headed for his house.

Ferin looked to the man curiously, studying his face. There was a great wisdom in his eyes, which often signified age or an old soul. Since he appeared young she guessed it was the soul. He looked rough, but gentle enough that she didn’t feel that cautious around him. True enough in the light he really wasn’t as terrifying as his fight with the shadows had made him out to be. Most would think her dumb, getting into a car with a stranger of supernatural origin, though she knew better. Being of heavenly descent she could see the intent in people’s hearts; his was not malice so she felt relatively safe.

However, sometime during the car ride in the warmth, likely also due to the blood loss and exhaustion and pain, the girl slipped into a gentle sleep. Her awakening, however, was rather less calm. Ferin let out a cry of pain and shot up, clutching at her shoulder. She was on... a dining table by the looks of things, and Simon, the man from the car, had a pair of bloodied tweezers in his hand. She assumed he was attempting to remove the bullet from her shoulder, it didn't mean it hurt any less.
