    Star Wars - Piracy

It has been nine years since the fall of the Republic into the new Galactic Empire, and Piracy has never been harder. Even with the Empire using the majority of its fleet to finish the conversion of the last stubborn worlds rejecting Imperial Rule and finding Separatist strongholds the Emperor has devoted entire task forces to tackle the problem of Piracy. Though Pirates never really know when to stop, a small pirate base has established itself in the asteroid belt in the Muunlist system and has expanded its reach out to the two nearby systems, Bastion and Yaga Minor. Though these, prosperous times will be short lived. Due to some "issues" on Muunlist an Imperial Fleet has been sent to the sector to resolve the dispute, however someone on Imperial Center is becoming very concerned with the pirate attacks and their regularity.

    Plot:

This RP is set 10BBY, giving the Empire a good nine years to build up its, impressive fleet. There is no real Rebel Alliance and it is more individual systems or cells that have not yet been discomfiture by the Imperials or the Imperials just haven't got around to crushing them out of existence. The Commander in Imperial Center will be played by a friend of mine who is not on Roleplayerguild, and I will relay status updates from any Imperial Intelligence units and from the Captain of the Imperial Picket Fleet. He will then decide on a course of action, and relay it. Though eventually he will be-able to partake personally.

There will be the two sides, Imperials being led by the Commander I just mentioned and the Captain of the Picket fleet. I will lead the pirates, which I may not even name. The Imperials will start by dealing with some, troublesome Muuns while the pirates take out a convoy gaining more Imperial Attention, and then it all goes underway in a desperate bid for the Pirates to become rich, and the Imperials taking them out. During the story any pirate who gains enough player/non-player support(You must have at least one players support before this) can rival my characters leadership, kill my character(during an epic battle where we will actually use a DIE). If my character is killed the winner will be the one to decide the direction of the pirates, heck if you really want you can turn it into a rebel cell fighting for the benefit of the Alliance(Although the Alliance won't be properly around for a good five years.)

The Imperial Captain will be auditioned, and chosen by the commander. IF you like this idea, just put in your interest. Then we shall begin!

-Forgive if you think this is a shoddy explanation, I prefer most development to happen IC.

How would you work around the fact that a mere single Imperial Star Destroyer, will murder the entire Pirate fleet and their base?'

Well then the said Commander would not have an ISD available, also along as it takes a while me and him have decided upon a Plot Twist. You must also remember ISDs typically don't like flying through Asteroid fields so it wouldn't pass through unless it KNEW the pirates were there.

I never understood Star Wars and Asteroid fields, apparently Star destroyers are powered by the equivalent of a small star, while can be effortlessly destroyed by a Asteroid field.

    Anyways ... yeah.

I think its to do with the fact of all the moving rock, and shields in star wars aren't the best, except thermal but they are rare and a power drain and do not allow for torpedoes to be fired from them. Also as you can read in one of the books, they are completely un-predictable.

Star Destroyers are rather rare outside of the core imperial fleet. Generally star destroyers exist mainly to tussle on other fleets and to to bomb errant civilizations back into the stone age when there is talk of succession.

Other ships, frigates and interdictors for example, would be much more useful for chasing pirates.

As for star wars making sense? Don't go there. According to statistics on the death star, the alliance was wiped out in episode 4 when the death star went super nova at the end. The entire solar system would have been destroyed.

Yeah I do see that Assaylla, which is partially why as of yet the fleet consistencies are un-decided. Want to wait for enough interest, is that some from you by the way? Who better to be a scurvy pirate than Assaylla. The persons whose name I always put the Y first for some reason... Sorry Assallya

So, the Anti-Pirate force would be composed of light and fast vessels, while the lead vessel is a 416, cause you don't want those Pirate running away from your loving turbolasers.
