A Retrospective Look at History


In the year 2550, Japan sunk into the sea. Countless earthquakes withered the island over time. Eventually it was too much. This was not an unprecedented event. It was in fact predicted to happen in the year 2050. To prepare Japan enlisted the aid of America, and together they began an ambitious plan, they were going to create a new ‘Japan.’ Massive amounts of resources were used, and it was pain staking work spanning multiple generations, however this new ‘Japan’ was finished in the year 2545. It was connected to the western edge of the United States, and due to a binding contract officially became a part of America. This story takes place in a town right on the border between New Japan and the west coast, in the year 2570.

The Present

Kuroki High, a recently built private high school that has been standing for four years. It is named after the town in which it was built. This high school is special in that it adopts both traditional Japanese and American customs, and is the first of its kind. Students live on campus in two separate buildings, the male, and female dorm. Near school grounds there are various shops which frequently have students as customers. Presently, students are enjoying summer break.
Many of the schools clubs continue meeting even during breaks. There is one club in particular that is of a specific importance, The Cultural Arts club. The name is a front, as the club’s activities have nothing to do with cultural arts. The members of this club are special, and their activities are without a doubt unknown by the general populace. To put it bluntly, members of the club are hunters of the supernatural. Their circumstances differ from one another, however they are all the same in that they have an acute awareness and sensitivity to the unknown.

Recently there has been a sharp rise in the number of paranormal and otherwise unexplainable events occurring in the town of Kuroki. People are vanishing without a trace, seeing and hearing strange things in the dead of night. The CA club comes in here. However the level of instability is of the likes they’ve never seen before. Something is obviously going on in the town, and until they find out just ‘what’ this something is the flood of incidents will only continue to grow more and more out of hand.

The Cultural Arts Club

The CA Club is composed of two types of members, Purifiers, and Pacifiers. Purifiers are students that are more closely connected to the realm of the dead and have an affinity for spirit Psyche magic. Being naturally tied to the realm of the dead these students are able to sense the presence of spirits, be they ghosts, demons, angels, or any other being that thrives in life and death. Psyche magic draws upon the inner power of the user via the will of their soul, and enhances their mental abilities. Being proficient with Psyche magic allows one access to a myriad of Psychic powers. Purifiers are typically weaker than their Pacifier counterparts, and so their role in dealing with hostile spirits is usually passive. They can’t cast powerful offensive spells, instead they use their abilities to lend support to Pacifiers. They can sense when danger is near, and it’s a Purifiers job to offer intelligence to Pacifiers. They are also responsible for sending wayward spirits to rest. Just how they go about doing this depends upon the target. For example ghosts require solace to pass onto the other side; once they find it one way or another the Purifier performs a silent prayer to pass them on to the afterlife.

Pacifiers are students that have an abundance of spiritual power due to a connection with a supernatural being. Be it that they are a ‘half-blood’ or were ‘cursed’ with their power, all Pacifiers have an inner familiar that they draw their power from. Utilizing this power they are able to do what mere mortals cannot, combat hostile spirits, monsters, and demons. Just how their power manifests within them depends upon their familiar. A mystical familiar will allow the Pacifier access to basic offensive magic, while a physically powerful one will enhance their physical prowess.

No god modding, AT ALL. Our characters have abilities but they are not power houses.
This isn’t a battle RP really, there will be conflicts and danger however the main thing to focus on is character development and resolving the issues presented to the club.

Name: Acesto AKA Ace
Age: 17
Gender: Male

Appearance: Ace stands at 5''8 tall and he has a tan skin complexion. His hair is long enough that it falls just above his shoulders, and is colored a dark auburn. His hair is usually let loose, though he takes care of it so it keeps its natural sheen. His eyes are a piercing aqua, and rather narrow. They are the first thing people tend to notice when they see him. He has a timid yet determined gaze, as if he knows to take things in stride. The rest of his facial features are soft and non-threatening, a complement to his gentle nature. He has an almost androgynous curvature to his face, with a non-threatening jawline and subtle nose and mouth. His body is fit though he’s not muscle-bound, he does a lot of cardio training so he has a high amount of stamina. As for his clothing he tends to wear very baggy clothes. He doesn’t like to have his movement restricted.

Personality: Personality: Ace is a reserved kid. He doesn't talk much, and when he does it tends to be brief. He occasionally speaks more, however he only does so when he believes a strong point must be made. He carries himself with an air of maturity not seen often in kids his age, which shows in how he perceives and treats others. He always approaches people in a calm and kind manner, and has a knack for getting on everyone's good side. He abhors dishonesty and cowardice, and he can be counted on to keep a promise. He doesn't like people getting hurt on his watch, and will try anything to resolve a conflict without casualties. Ace's kind attitude can also be his bane. He puts too much pressure on himself to succeed, and often becomes depressed if he lets someone down. He can also be stubborn if he sees things in a different light than someone else, and while he is a logical thinker he will not accept any solution that threatens someone's well being. Ace isn’t perfect. He seems like the most positive person in the world, however his natural affinity to the realm of the dead has made him rather weary.

Role: Purifier

Abilities: Ace only has the basic abilities a Purifier is expected to have. He has an acute awareness of the supernatural, which allows him to sense phenomena as easily as one may take a breath. Besides his rather unnerving connection to the other realm, Ace doesn't have any other special abilities. However he has something else that makes him a vital member of the club, his instinct. He doesn't crack under pressure, and his vast knowledge of the supernatural allows him to adapt to most any situation.

Other: Likes to read, and more often than not will be seen with a book or comic in hand.

Though I doubt that adequately answered your question. XD The technology is highly advanced in this setting, though it's nothing extreme. Everything isn't chrome, and there are no flying cars. That being said, stuff like the concept of an Indefinite lifespan is a reality due to advancements in technology due to nanorobots and gene therapy, and there is not an energy crisis due to the creation of interstellar solar panels and so on. You can go ahead and make up whatever future tech you want.

If they have a physical familiar, then that's up to you. You may just as easily have a 'spiritual' connection to a familiar, only taking on their features or powers.

Fie thinks that she will just put up a CS and leave out most of the techie parts and just go with the flow IC regarding said techie parts. Thinking of playing out the angsty artist type of girl. But of course the final product may differ from the original concept. We shall see.

Personality: Angry, angsty, intense, mouthy, aggressive, short-tempered, mis-trusting and puts up walls/barriers to prevent people getting to know her. Beyond the front, she is an emotive artist and can be nice, playful and protective, but takes a while to get on her good side. Likes the cute girls. Past drug addictions, and assault charges. Role: Pacifier

Abilities: She has the regular physical, mental and spiritual training of one burdened with dealing with the physical manifestations, but she is proficient to fight on the spiritual level and actually prefers to fight on the spiritual level with her artwork: creating wards, sigils and seals. But her familiar 'Nia' is a force of Rage that feeds upon Honalee's bad attitude and negativity. The good thing is that when necessary, Honalee will become a fuckin' beast in a teenager's body: heightened senses, agility, speed, strength and combat prowess. The bad, very bad thing is that Nia is always looking for a way to enhance and release her big sister's attitude and negativity through physical violence and transgression. And it is like a killer snowball effect if not curbed in time. If pushed too far, Honey will black out and pass out. When woken, she will be utterly exhausted, hungry, dehydrated and will not remember much, if any, of what happened while she was still awake and filled with Narnia's rage.

And yes, Nia is actually 'Narnia', Honalee's deceased twin sister. She was only six when Nia died, but Honey has vivid memories burned into her mind; memories that are not her own; memories of very bad things that happened. Very. Fucking. Bad. Things. She refuses to talk about them. Honey secretly believes that a ritual was performed upon her younger twin so that the older twin could be trained to fight the supernatural. She calls them 'stupid parents,' but in fact, Honalee is suspicious and rather afraid of them, for what they do know, and what they may have had a hand in creating. She's been doing art and martial arts as long as she can remember. They started cultivating her 'talents' after her twin Narnia died...

After reading the CS for Ace, Fie decided that Honalee and he would be friends if that is okay. I see him as a calming presence for Honalee, and, for Ace, she is a reliable presence that will always be there right by his side come hell and fuckin' hell. A nice ying and yang.
