The World of Avalon: Dra'gurk's return

    The Prologue
The World of Avalon began with the Darkness. Darkness had been lonely for many ages, until Darkness decided to create a companion by using half of its own power. This created the Light, and the two strived together in harmony. Eventually, they wanted to try an experiment with each other, and created their Universe. They then found one of their many luscious planets, and visited it, they enjoyed it, but Light saw more potential for it. She asked for Darkness to create life all over the hospitable planets. Darkness wanted to see Light happy, because it made her shine brighter, and did as she asked. When Darkness made the animals all over the planets, but then as he began to work on another species, humanoids, he fell asleep. Light watched over him patiently, and had no answer from Darkness. She continued to take care of the animals on the planets, and eventually found her work had been cut out for her. So she split half of herself, into the Goddesses of Life, Death, Fire, Water, Ground, and Air. These Goddesses were able to cover Light’s work that it took her a year to do in a matter of days. The Goddesses eventually wanted to see what it would be like to walk upon the planets and view them from the perspective of a humanoid, which their mother had told them about.
As they traveled upon the planets, they witnessed a falling of blackness upon the planets, and saw that in these Blacknesses were strange creatures which they had never seen before. These creatures attacked all that was made by the Darkness and Light, but the goddesses managed to fight off some of them. These Blacknesses were manifested by Darkness’ dreams, his nightmares as he slept. However, in one of these blacknesses, was a man. A Human with more knowledge than he thought he had. He met with the Goddesses, and told them of magic, which he used to try and stop the creatures. The Goddesses were shocked by the new form of power, and asked him to teach them. Once they knew of it, they mixed their own Godly powers with the Magic, and created humanoids. From the Humans, to the Avians, to the Mycellans. At that time, this human and the goddess of life fell in love. However, unlike the goddesses, he was only mortal, and before he died, he told her his name was Lanze. The goddess of life was so sad, that she wanted to join him in the afterlife. When she left their plane to join her love, the Nightmares began once more. Darkness unleashed more creatures through his blacknesses all over the world, and the goddesses tried to defend their new homes. The Goddess of Life came back to help them, but was still saddened by her loss.
A being known as Lord Dra’gurk was brought to the world, and kidnapped the goddess of life, and forced her to use her powers to bring back the nightmares that would die in battle. He told her that being born of Darkness he knew of how to bring back her loved one, but would only do so, once the nightmares took over the planets. However, Light instead revived Lanze for her, who met Dra’gurk in battle. When the final blow was going to be made by Dra’gurk, The goddess of light stepped into the attack, sacrificing herself for Lanze. In a rage, Lanze attacked Dra’gurk, and disabled him. Dra’gurk couldn’t be killed by normal means, so the goddesses used their magic along with Lanze, to seal Dra’gurk into a timeless abyss. This however drained Lanze of his power, and died once more. However, because of the goddess having been slain this time, instead of choosing to go of her own accord, Light could not simply revive the two. Instead, she can use her power to reincarnate the two into humanoids, who will always have feelings for each other. Every 100 years, Light would reincarnate the two, and allow them up to 80 years together, for that was all the power she could expend to revive them. However, the reincarnations wouldn’t know about themselves until they hit 18 years old.
The History of the world continued, through countless battles with each other, the Blacknesses, now known as Nightmare Tears, and even against the gods at times. But the time we are looking at now, is during the Magic Tech, and Steam Tech Revolutions. The year is 3817 A. S. (After Schism, after the battle between humans, and the god beings).
Now after 20,000 years the seal has broken, and the dark lord is slowly regaining strength. He has enlisted the help of Jokan, a nightmare beast from the dream realm and plans to regain control of the world and strike down the goddesses that once sealed him away. The current reincarnation is Kay the priestess in training, though she doesn't yet know that she is the reincarnated goddess of light. Her knight in training Lance, named after the great hero, is training to protect her. They've been close friends since birth. Now the story begins.
Deep in the depths of the Ruined Castle, a battleground that Dra’gurk used as his main base, a dark figure slowly moving around a dim chamber. "Jokan," the figure roared as the ball shaped clown Jokan appeared "my power is still slowly growing but I want you to do something for me." The figure began to move some more trying to loosen its limbs. "Bring me the girl who is the next reincarnation of the goddess of light." The round creature, Jokan began to dance around with a smile on his face, "Of course my lord, how would you like this to be done and how will I know?" The Figure moved around more, out of anger "Any means necessary!! You should be able to pick her out of a crowd with the amount of spiritual energy she gives off!!! But don't kill her!" The figure roared at Jokan. "At once my lord!" Jokan replied as he ran off.
We now go to the hanging gardens of Castle Gilmas, a great tremendous castle that has gardens on ledges above the city. The city, also known as Gilmas, is powered by magic and steam technology. The steam tech, if you will, is slowly being integrated because of the Mana wars in which much of the planet had lost its life force, which it has almost fully regained. But that's a story for another time. The castle is the home of the noble families, but the rulers are the King and Queen, whose roles double as high rank zealots of religion. The Queen is the high-priestess, and the princess is a priestess-in-training, just as the king is the high priest and the prince is a priest-in-training.
In the Hanging Gardens, Kay is playing in the gardens, her knight Lance, also 14 like she is, playing with her. The two are having fun and have developed a romantic relationship, which is forbidden, so they keep it behind childlike behaviors. They continued to play until near sunset, when they went out into the city.
The city's gate keepers watched and let in the near constant slew of strangers to the city. The shorter of the two guards thought he saw a tentacle coming from the hood of a traveler. He merely shook his head and wrote it off as being overworked and tired.
Meanwhile Kay and Lance were going around town looking in shops, playing with street kids, and looking at the new monsters brought in from monster captors. Nothing too exciting, a heard of Jads (large fluff balls like sheep that can generate electricity) and a Saggin (a small raptor like creature.) in cages. The sun was starting to set and the city was beginning to shift from day to night, the town would be shut down for the night, but would become a party city once night was in full swing.
At this time the streets were near empty having about 5 or 6 people on it at one time. Kay and Lance were almost back to the castle. It was at this point that Lance noticed that they were being followed by a group of 5 hooded people. Lance told Kay to stop and they turned to face the hooded people. "Can we help you?" Lance said in a calm tone hand ready to go to his sword at a moment’s notice. He's never had to draw his sword against an actual opponent usually just against the training instructor. The hooded man at the front of the group stepped forward and replied "Yes you can, you see we are looking for the reincarnated goddess of light." Lance was confused, "You mean she's been found?" Lance asked not knowing that the man speaking to him was after Kay. "Yes," the man said, "and it just so happens she is with you." The man said as he raised his robed arm.
After a finger was pointed two of the other robed men leapt forward with swords drawn, Lance jumping in-between them and Kay with sword drawn blocking both of the blades. "Kay run!" Lance said as he pushed the two away causing there hoods to fall off. They were blue knights, but these knights could move so silently it was eerie and their eyes were glowing red, how had Lance not noticed before. His words to Kay were made in vain because one of the hooded people shot a tentacle out from its robe and picked up Kay. The Tentacle then brought Kay back to its owner extremely quickly causing Kay to make an audible grunt. Another tentacle came out and hit her in the back of the head with a loud "thwack!" knocking Kay unconscious.
"Kay!" Lance yelled as he de-armed a blue knight. The first man in the hood called out "It's only a flesh wound!" As he began to laugh a very clown like laugh. "I'll get you!" Lance yelled at the man as he took out the two knights lopping off their heads causing the empty armor to fall to the ground. He charged the hooded man who seemed to stand there waving his hands in fear. Not wanting to kill the man so he could question him, he aimed for the man's hood to see his face. He stabbed into the hood, it looked as if he had stabbed the hood but he hit something hard. Suddenly red liquid ran down the blade the surprise causing Lance to stumble backwards.
"My that was close." The man said "I guess I don't need this anymore." He said as he ripped the robe off. Under the robe was Jokan the ball shaped creature balancing a watermelon on his head that had Lance's sword through it. The creature casually took the watermelon off its head, cut it in half, and engulfed the 2 watermelon pieces whole with its red toothed mouth on its chalky white face. He then threw the sword away like it was a napkin. Lance was amazed by the strange ball's casual reaction to almost being killed. The other 2 hooded creatures had started to run off towards the city gates. Lance pulled the sword from the ground and chased after the 2, but he was stopped by a foot. A foot without a leg! The foot belonged to Jokan, who began hopping behind the other two creatures. "See ya later, failanator." Jokan yelled as he began laughing maniacally. The Creatures easily ran past the guards and into a tunnel that came up from the ground. The tunnel then sank back into the ground.
Lance returned to the castle and relayed the story to the King and Queen. "This is horrible news," the King said stroking his golden beard. "If we have blue knights capturing our daughter, then that can only mean one thing. Dra’gurk has returned." The king stood from his throne, "I'll have to make a royal offering." The king went to a table where a piece of parchment was and began writing. The words were "Tragedy the Princess, Kay, has been kidnapped by Dra’gurk. The first to find Dra’gurk 's new base shall receive 20,000 Gold. However, whoever returns the princess to us shall receive 20,000,000 Gold or a request of equal possible value. Please aid the Kingdom of Gilmas." He then gave the paper to Lance and said "Give this to our scribes, tell them to have 2000 ready by tomorrow. You shall head out in the morning and search for her as well, because you are her knight." The king then sat back in his throne and said "what are you waiting for? Go!"
Now, all throughout the land are the many posters proclaiming to all what could possibly be theirs if they save the princess. But who can do it, and what kinds of creatures await them in the base? Will it be Lance, the guardian knight of Kay? Will it be someone else?

    Races:
    Humans (self-explanatory)
Avians: Humans with birdlike qualities. All of them have bird wings, based off some bird or another. They also all have Talon like forearms, hands, legs, and feet. On rare occasions, the Avian will have a beak, or a crest on their head, or even what looks like a bird head on top of their own human head. Though these Avians usually won’t have talon like limbs.
Mycellans: A plant like race of humans, named Mycellans because they originally had mushroom like qualities. The Mycellans usually have the ability to speak with the nature, and can live off of water and sunlight, though some are based off specific kinds of plants, usually having that plant on their body, such as a flytrap on their back, or a mushroom cap on their hair, which can double as a chakram.
Dryven: Humanoids similar to humans, but with the ability to become dragons for a limited time. Most have unnatural hair colors that mark the color of dragon they can become. When a Dryven becomes a dragon, they are the size of themselves when they are human, and the transformation lasts a minute at most, usually needing a rest after the painful transformation. Outside of their transformation, they are similar to any normal human.
Ferastian: Humanoids similar to humans, but with the ability to become quadruped animal, like tigers, cats, dogs, horses, and other things, but retain their normal size. Most have unnatural hair which marks their fur color, but if they don’t have fur, their hair is the same color as their animal skin. When in human form, they retain the ears of their animal, as well as tails. Some though, have the horn of their animal if they have it. The transformation lasts for a minute, but will stay if they fall asleep, until they wake up. The transformation leaves most Ferastians sore like a bad sun burn, and a hard work out.
Elves: A rare humanoid that is very good at using magic, some believe that they came from the first batch of humanoids to have been made. They can out live a human by 4 times, and age 4 times as slowly. Most have much sharper eyes, and are given much more time to learn about the things they want. However, they are more fragile than most other humanoids and focus on advancing the technology of the ages.
Artificials: A fake humanoid that is made by putting all of one’s natural energy into a false body in a magic ritual, similar to Alchemy. The Humanoid is made of whatever one can find, and is usually unstable. The process is very dangerous and illegal in most places on the planet of Avalon. However, one who has been processed into an Artificial, can no longer mature, or age, and disappear when the materials making it dissolve or break.

    Tech:
Magitech: Armor and other things that are powered by using a person’s magic. Most Magitech runs busses gates, and other things. However, Magitech has been slowly regressing in use due to the magic wars long ago. Some Magitech weapons include magic cannons, magic mobile armor, and a rare magihandle, which becomes a weapon, by focusing magic into it, forming blades and whatever.
Steamtech: Similar to the above, but using steam. Steam has been implemented throughout the world to save on the amount of Mana used by people. Steamtech has been equipped into pistol and rifle like weapons, which launch pellets through the use of steam pressure, as well as in other weapons to make the blades heat up. Steam Armor is still in testing phases and is very dangerous.
Electritech: Anything powered by electricity, the power stored in batteries through magic, but now the only way to get it now is through lightning rods. Which isn’t the best way, but it gets the job done. Some inventors love using this to power their inventions and tools, instead of using steam, which has a habit of rusting, and magic, which can slowly take away from the planet again. Most who use inventions, use it because they can’t use magic.

They all can use magic, however, you need a magic users license. Magic is universal, and depletes mana from the planet and yourself.

    Name: Yuki Aroi
    Age: 20
    Race: Ferastian (fox)
    Appearance:
    Job: A Gilmas Knight
Weapon: A magitech katana named Ikiteha that has been passed down in his family since the magic wars. Though the blade is made of normal steel, when Yuki channels his magic into it the blade is able to cut through Mana. This makes it an excellent defense against magical attacks as well as a good weapon against magitech armor and barriers.
Magic/Inventions: In humanoid form, Yuki is able to to perform simple pyromancy, such as streaks of embers or a single fireball. It makes a good supplement for his fighting style, but is not strong enough to stand on its own. He can also conjure a wisp that is able to relay sound to him. This takes constant concentration and the wisps appear as bright blue flames if they are not hidden well. In his fox form, Yuki's pyromantic abilities increase ten-fold, allowing him to weave dangerous firestorms.

    Name: James 'Jim' Zephyr
    Age: 24
    Race: Dryven
    Appearance:
    Human form
    Dragon form
    Job: Bounty Hunter
Weapon: Magihandle(Rarely used) which forms a wind blade. He also carries a staff with him, which is used as a primary weapon.
Magic/Inventions: The only magic Jim retains is that of his magihandle, which is in the form of wind. The blade is hard to see, but if one were to look closely at it you could see the fluctuation of the air coming from the handle. The blade is about the length of a normal sword. The sword's doesn't inflict any external damage, only causing damage internally of the body. Though when in his dragon form his blade is visible with the extra strength is body has gained(reference dragon picture, that's how it would look like in that form.) All of his physical abilities have a tremendous increase when in this form, yet has a toll on his body afterwards.
