The Capital Wasteland (Fallout RP OOC)

    Conditionally accepting. IC- http://roleplayerguild.com/showthrea...72#post8334572

It is 2275 in the ruins that were once Washington DC. The Capital Wasteland.
Clean water is quickly becoming scarce, only the strongest, richest, and the luckiest can survive. The Enclave theoretically control the wastes, as the self proclaimed government of America. The Brotherhood of Steel are hording pre-war technology, but as the hostility of the wasteland grows, they are beginning to turn to protection as their primary duty. Raiders terrorise settlements, feral ghouls infest the sewers, Super Mutants maintain a steady hold on Downtown DC, and there are even rumours of Deathclaws and Aliens stalking the outskirts.

For one reason or another; Talon Company wants you dead. You may be strong, but you can't handle the wastes with mercs on your tail without any assistance. You have taken refuge in Megaton for a few days, but without caps or the appropriate skill, you can't stay much longer.

    Welcome to The Capital Wasteland.

    --RULES--

    1) Be reasonable. You are not the lone wanderer. You are not an ex-Brotherhood captain. You are not the sort of person that anyone would bank on surviving alone. This is a survival rp, and any challenges you face must be that- challenges. I must emphasise that I do not want expert assassins who could take out Tenpenny, or brickhouses who plan on punching deathclaws. Try to be part of a team, not a main character.

    2) Ration your control. I am allowing players to control NPC's, but please ask me before doing something important, like starting a quest or having a Super Mutant attack. Obviously you cannot control other players characters. I am allowing the use of companions, such as pets, but only if you really need them. If too many people have a companion, I'll have to start removing them.

    3) Combat rules. This isn't a fighting rp, it's survival. But I'd be shocked if you didn't have to kill quite a few things. You may kill enemies without permission, but, again, be reasonable. Make your posts entertaining for everyone, and let other players give their fair share.

    4) Loot. It would be difficult for me to divvy out acceptable loot to characters, so I ask you to use initiative. Any loot you have, keep written down, from guns to caps, I'll just trust you. Remember that guns can break, and that ammunition and caps are finite. Have a good reason for having guns, ammo, and chems.

    5) Quests. I am not the sole leader of this, everyone is. You want your character to start a questline? Sure. Want us to find interesting ruins or devices? Go for it. I won't be able to run this alone, and I want everyone to have the fun and freedom of Fallout. I do ask that you send me a message if you want to do something potentially game changing.

    6) Include everyone. If someone feels like they aren't getting enough recognition, or have no opening to post. Say so here, and the players will do what they can to make you feel welcome. I'm sure we've all had it when our character has nothing to do.

    --CHARACTER SHEET--

    Name:
    Gender:
    Age:
    Race: (human or ghoul only)
Tag Skills: (not directly affecting what I'll allow you to do, just for an idea of their abilities. Pick three)

    Clothing: (what are you wearing?)

Appearance: (Be descriptive. Size, hair, etc...)

History: (Don't be -too- descriptive. Obviously we want to know a lot about you, but don't exceed three paragraphs. Again, reasonable backstory. Remember that the Lone Wanderer hasn't emerged yet. You may be from a vault if you wish, but only one or two people. You don't have to be from the Capital Wasteland.)

    Name: Clyde Idle-Wind

    Gender: Male

    Age: 24

    Race: Human

Tag Skills: Lockpick, Sneak, Small Guns.

Equipment: Combat knife, 10mm pistol. 3 10mm ammo clips, 1 bottle of dirty water, 3 bobby pins, and a pack of mentats.

    Clothing: Lightweight Leather Armor

Appearance: 5'4, skinny. (104 pounds), Clyde has short white hair and two bite marks on his left ankle from being attacked by wild dogs.

History: Originally a scamp from Little Lamplight, Clyde was a trouble maker. Stealing from other kids, and having stashes of items hidden all around. The only proof anyone had was that he was always sipping on somebody's Nuka Cola or using a teddy bear as target practice. He was never trusted any weapons, even as he aged. So he ended up stealing them from the older kids and keeping an eye out. Although it was never official, Clyde was a good shot. And always came through in protecting the cave when the Raiders came. After his 16th birthday, he was forced out of Little Lamplight, being too old to stay. He didn't want too, figuring the outside world to have even more items for him to get his little hands on. He soon found out otherwise, over the years becoming a thief, and eventually someone put a bounty on him. which the Talon Company happily accepted. He fled to Megaton, trying to plan his move on how to avoid his new-found pursuers. (Hope this wasn't TOO long...)

EDIT: In the first post, Clothing; it says (Who are you wearing?). Just thought you'd like to know.

    Name: Nira
    Gender: Female
    Age: 32
    Race: Human
Tag Skills: Repair, Energy Weapons, Barter
Equipment: Laser Pistol, 2 Energy Cell clips, 3 bottles of whiskey, Jet, Nuka Cola, Rock-It Launcher
    Clothing: Rob-co uniform

Appearance: 5'8, average build, black hair in short pigtails, has a burn wound on her left cheek from a malfunctioning laser.

History: Nira was born in a traveling caravan on their way to Rivet City. According to her mother, her father was a scribe in the Brotherhood who died shortly after she was conceived. Her mother worked as a merchant, and Nira would assist with repairing stock at a young age. She lived in Rivet City for a good portion of her life, until she decided to go on a quest to find out more about her father. She never did discover anything, but developed a powerful admiration of the Brotherhood, attempting to join multiple times. She's not entirely sure why a bounty is out on her. She assisted some Outcasts in retrieving pre-war tech, but also stole blueprints to a pulse gun (current whereabouts unknown). It's also possible that she did something unsavoury while in a drunken haze, having developed an unhealthy chem addiction since leaving Rivet City.

    Name: Clara
    Gender: Female
    Age: 17
    Race: Human
Tag Skills: Speech, Science and Medicine
Equipment: Vault 74 Jumpsuit, Pip-Boy 3000, Hunting Rifle, fifteen .32 bullets, a collection of stimpacks and Radaway, medical tools and a great deal of sterile hand-cleaning fluid.
Clothing: A ragged, but well-maintained Vault 74 Jumpsuit, with satchels and what appear to be medicinal tools hanging from her belt. A large pair of glasses, and a pair of boots.

Appearance: Very young, with short ginger hair and vaguely pointed features. Very, very clean. Quite tall.

History: Vault-Tec Vault 74; Group of subjects exposed through several generations to overly-protective mother-like Artificial Intelligence. Heavy Mr. Handy presence, one per family. Purpose; to examine psychological effects of ever-present mother figure over several generations. G.E.C.K. distributed; No. Vault to be opened after 10th Generation reaches appropriate maturity.
Clara grew up used to the constant presence of her Vault's protective computers. On the day the AIs suddenly stopped functioning and the Vault opened, more than half of the dwellers were almost immediately killed by a group of five Deathclaws. In the following week, a further quarter were slain by other forms of Wasteland wildlife, which was attracted to the unnaturally large number of traveling people. Half a week after that, most of the rest had either run away, or starved to death. The ones who didn't used the bodies to attract food.
Two weeks after the Vault opened, only four dwellers were left alive, and it was at this point that they first met other human beings.
Raiders, as it would turn out.
After escaping, wounded, it was Clara's medicinal knowledge that kept her, the only survivor, alive long enough to find Megaton - where she hopes she'll be able to find someone to help her stay alive.

    Name: Evan Wilson
    Gender: Male
    Age: 23
    Race: Caucasian
Tag Skills: Small Guns, Sneak, Survival
Equipment: A hayhook that he has sharpened the inside edge of the hook, a Silenced Mosin Nagant 7.62 Caliber Russian WWII Sniper Rifle, a Hunting & Field Knife set<Skinning, Gutting, deboning, root cutting, etc.), a round canteen that holds three quarts of water, and fifteen feet of rope coiled around him, it lays over his left shoulder and sits under his right one.

History: Evan is a hunter from the Wastes of West Virgnia, from a small town called Genoa. It is a ways West, and a bit North. He left home in search of new game, more challenging game, something that will re-ignite the Hunt deep within. He traveled south-east in search of this game, and eventually met the Capital Wasteland. He spent his time hunting, surviving, and trading. Occasionally he would keep a trophy, or make something from the things he kills, in order to remember what he has survived through. He has built a small home West of Megaton atop the hill over looking it, this where he stays when not hunting, or visiting Megaton.

It was kind of uncalled for to double post, Austin.

But i am curious if we're accepted.

RainThiefAustin, if I could make some notes about your character?
First of all, you can just say 'Sniper Rifle' and 'Knife' overly describing the specific type doesn't really add anything and kind of subtracts from the Fallout Game feel I was hoping for. Also, you're character has too much, could you remove two of those items? You can give yourself some less useful items to make up for it.

As for your history, I tried to emphasise that the characters need to struggle to survive. Having someone who came here specifically because they wanted the challenge will make you far more powerful than the other characters, so could you tone it down?

    --

Note to everyone; you don't necessarily need to be hunted by Talon Company, but your History does need to include the reason that you would follow the others. Thanks.

You are all accepted, though my suggestion to Austin stands.

I wish to make some notes aswell.
    1. The supposed "overly describing them" is not effecting the feel of anything, it gives them a specific purpose, or style, the game, is not what you should be striving for, the realism in the universe is what you should strive for, not every single gun is going to lok the same, and be the same caliber, or even be made by the same guy.
    2. Surviving in the Fallout Universe is not as hard as you are trying to make it be, if it were Megaton, Girdershade, and all the other, small rag-tag settlements would not still be standing.

My point was that nobody is actually going to know the difference between rifle designs, especially 200 years after they're made- hence the vague collective terms.
And surviving is this hard because that's the entire point of the role-play. I think I made it clear enough that this is a survival rp.

Although, the naming was the least of the suggestions. If you do want to keep the long name, go ahead. It just won't make any difference.
