Ever heard of a game called Dwarf Fortress?

I was just curious as to see if anyone on these forums has played or knows of the game by bay12games called Dwarf Fortress. If anyone has, feel free to share your stories and adventures here.

If you haven't heard of the complex game known as Dwarf Fortress, feel free to read this:
Dwarf fortress is a text based game by bay12games with a few images to please your eyes. It consist of two modes: Adventure, and Fortress mode.

Adventure mode: After the game creates a region, you have the choice of picking fortress or adventure mode. In adventure mode you create a character and choose to be either a dwarf, a human, or an elf. After that you select your skills,stats, and you either randomly select or create your name. In my opinion, the names make this game sometimes. For example you might meet NPC's who are named "Urist FruityLords" or "Arkur Kingcrimson". Once the character is created the game places you in a village where you will ask the locals for your first mission/quest. The game pretty much plays out like this for the rest of the play through. Over time though you may be ambushed by large groups of bandits or be sent to slay giants and titans. The combat though has a very nice hack and slash or grab and snap kinda feel to it. I once had a character who I decided to make a misc. item user. That means he will be able to use items that one wouldn't normally consider a weapon as a weapon. Long story short, he shoved a wedge of cheese through someones skull. Yes you read that right. A wedge of donkey cheese smashed straight through an opponent's skull and ripped up his brain. Safe to say the foe died rather quickly after having his brain impaled by cheese. Eventually, if you don't die within the first five minutes, your character will be bested. His or hers death may be swift, or it may be a slow and painful process. At the end of the day though, you'll probably become a legend and a part of the history of that region.

Fortress Mode: In fortress mode, seven dwarfs are sent out to settle far away lands. You can choose and select the jobs and skills for these seven dwarfs and pick the name of your fortress. The main goal of this game mode is to try to build and maintain a dwarf fortress. Each dwarf works at their stations and work side by side with other dwarfs to be able to either mine out new halls, turn wood into wooden chairs, make gems into jewelry, or forge weapons for the militia. There is of course much more involved than those few examples. Over time immigrants will arrive to start their new life at your fortress. Usually if they seem utterly useless you make them fishermen and send them out to the river to be eaten by carp. That's what a cruel wise ruler would do anyway. Eventually the fortress will be attacked by forgotten beasts, hostile armies, dragons and demons. Everyone will usually die, so remember this: "Losing is fun!"

Just a bit of a translation here of the posted pictures. The graphics of the game are as minimalist as possible in order to max out the depth.

For example, this is the depiction of a dwarf fighting an elephant. Both are wounded. Immediately beneath that is the same action, this time with upgraded graphics (said upgraded graphics are not supported by the game itself, but drawn by some artist).
