Greetings my dearest children.
So for the past few days I've had an idea bouncing around in my head. I've wanted to join or make a roleplay, but one with interesting character conventions, designed to improve writing/roleplaying skills in addition to being fun. So what I dreamed up was this.
A roleplay in which you did not play your own character, or chose which character you were assigned.
Players would write up their own character sheet and send them to the Game Master via private message, who then distributed them randomly to the other players. The roleplay would proceed in a Multiverse/Crossover kind of way, with any genre and any character viable, assuming they weren't overpowered and they were written to an acceptable standard. From there the players would progress in a storyline based around their displacement, and the personal growth resulting from the clash of their new personality and old memories. Or similar. The details aren't very well thought-out right now. But being the clever little cookies you all are, I assume you catch my drift.
The whole project would be fairly large and hopefully involve a large number of players. As such I'll almost certainly need a co-GM or two. The whole affair would probably take place at the High-Casual level.
Any interest? Opinions? Criticisms? This is the way all my ideas begin; I'll probably make a better interest check in Casual in good time assuming a few people are interested.

Due to the roleplay being kinda multi-genre, the setting will span across a lot of different world types, but I'm hoping I'll be able to make the settings meld together fluidly. None of it will be directly taken from any existing book/game/roleplay, but all of it will be familiar. Think of it as one big planet with a lot of different lands, each land representing a usual roleplaying genre, but the lands occasionally meld to form something different, for example a Lovecraftian steampunk location, a science-fantasy magic-powered advanced civilisation, a Dune-esque land filled with 'primitive' peoples making a living out of the remnants of older civilisations, or a combination of Columbian/pirate era explorers and technologies coming into contact with Avatar-esque strange and powerful new species. The idea is that in some way or another, every major roleplaying genre will be explored, but there won't have to be an explanation for suddenly jumping from one genre to another, because they all coexist. If this helps at all. :P

Just saying, everyone, though the idea is still going to happen, I'm a little exhausted after the long week and I still have work to do. So just hang in there for a few more days. In fact, you can probably start writing a character sheet already, if you're ready to make some adjustments once the actual character sheet is released. It'll include the basics- Name, Gender, Race, History, Personality etc., so just go crazy. Anything is possible at this stage, any genre, any character (provided they're not a ripoff from something else or unreasonably powerful). THe whole character-swap thing will be sorted out by me, so you don't have to make any adjustments for that, except to make sure your character will be understandable by the other player.

I think I'd like to take part. I don't know if I will actually have time for it, but if a delay of some time between each post ain't a problem, I have one character that I'd absolutely LOVE to see someone else play...
