    Loveland City by Night

    IC Thread

Loveland Texas was in the heart of the bible belt, just west of Texarkana (yes it’s not a real city). Since its founding, Loveland has been a stronghold against the supernatural. Its founder, Dr. Raymond Loveland, was a powerful hunter of all things unnatural. His organization, “For the Love of Life” was a medical development company known for inventions that paved the road for new health systems, medications, and diets to improve the life of everyone around the world. What is not known, is that it also developed new and cruel means of hunting, killing, and torturing the creatures of darkness. Training of new hunters, churches at every corner, and the continued hunting of Raymond Loveland has kept the streets and government free of intrigue of anything but human.

On the night of January 23, 2013, all this changed in a single night. Rumors have run rampant throughout the world as to the cause, but nothing has been set in stone except the facts. The city of Loveland went to sleep that night, peaceful and full of excitement for the new state fair that had come to town, then woke up with a quarter of the population missing, the “For the Love of Life” building on fire and gutted, and the tents and rides of the fair gone. Some say that that the fair was a cover for a rival organization there to sabotage the success of “For the Love of Life”. Some say monsters prowled the streets that night, hunting and slaughtering people seemingly at random. Some say it was the beginning of the second coming. To the supernatural, however, it means one thing: a power struggle to control this seemingly inaccessible city.

    Gypsy CS

    Name:
    Elijah Cromwell
    Age:
    21
    Family name:
The Cromwell Romanis, said to be one of the most powerful Gypsy clans to date.
    Affinity:
Gypsies are a race of psychic magical people have an array of abilities-
Premonitions - (or "The Sight") The ability to see into the past, present, and future through psychic means. These visions can appear through dreams, through flashes when one is awake, or through divining with items such as Tarot Cards, Tea Leaf Reading, Palm Reading, and many other methods. However the future is subjective and changes with every decision you make, making the visions change sporadically.
Mediumship - The ability to see, summon, and communicate with the spirits of the dead. Users with this ability can also banish spirits away as well as be a medium for possession.
Telekinesis - The ability to control the movement of matter with the mind.
Psychic Blast - This is an ability the Evil Eye grants the user. The ability to overload anothers mind, causing pain, memory loss, lack of consciousness, vegetative state and/or death. The blast will feel like your brain is on fire, enough to bring someone to their knees in pain.
Blood Sense - The ability so sense the blood in others. With this ability, a gypsy is able to tell if someone is a supernatural and what kind they are just by touching, smelling, or tasting them. Once that's done, Gypsies can also track them without a visible trail for up to 3 miles away.
Romani Magic - Being apart of Romani culture, the user can use Gypsy magic. Gypsies harness the power of the Evil Eye which enables them to curse or protect other people with it. They are able to spellcast, make potions, and use nature's gifts to perform magic and make magical charms. Gypsies are cousins to witches.
    Purpose for coming:
To investigate the disappearances and to make what's wrong right again.
    History:
Elijah belongs to the Cromwells, a powerful Gypsy family. They are known for their near perfect accurate visions. Both of his parents are gypsies and taught him everything he needed to know. After his powers manifested themselves when he hit puberty, they came with a bang. His powers showed that they were more powerful than the average Gypsy. However his mother told him that there was a prophecy that foretold of a powerful Romani that would help aid to stopping a great war to come. Now at the age of 21, his powers are at its peak. One night Elijah had a premonition in his sleep about a town in Texas. He saw darkness, creatures, missing people. He knew this had something to do with the prophecy. From there, Elijah took off to the town to investigate the strange events.

I will be making a character but you say in the Mage character sheet the rots must be approved by you, would it not be more wise to have the Spheres be approved as a mage is really not bound by his or her rotes, that is more just like their favorite spells that is a little easier to cast than other kinds of magick, the magick system is very free so a mage can make up and effect on the go.

One more question, since this is to be a game about power play among powerful factions do that mean we are not playing with the metaplot in Revised where we have the whole Avatar Storm thing that cut all of mage society off from their Masters and basically leaves the Traditions stranded on Earth? For a powerplay situation and also the character I have in mind will work better with a non metaplot world setting where you still have Horizon, Masters, the politics of the Traditions and the Ascension War in the background, though off course I could change my character concept to something that fit the metaplot of Revised if you would rather prefer that.

No Meta plot. And the rote approval I put in there because I had alot of people come in the first time I did this who didn't know what they were doing. No worries for you

Name: Omarion Grayvale Hermes bani Guernicus

Appearance: Omarion is a tall and handsome man. Once his hair was stark black once, but now it have a fair amount of dark gray stripes through it that gives him an air of sophistication. Omarion's hair hangs to about jaw length and is straight and thick, it quite often get into his eyes. Omarion have dark brown, almond shaped eyes, fine facial features, with a thin nose and lips and high cheekbones, his complexion is a pale tan which makes him look Latino in appearance. Omaion is of slender build and and he moves with a measured grace. When he is at his Chantry or visiting other places where mages gather the old willworker prefer to wear silken robes full of arcane symbols. When he is around sleepers however he usually wears black jeans, a dark gray turtleneck sweater and a black leather jacket. Omarion looks to be around forty five years old, give or take.

Personality: Omarion is an intelligent man, he have a inquisitive mind and a fine sense of justice. Omarion is kind but he can be brutal if he have to to protect those he love, or those who he feel have been wronged and need justice. Omarion love magick and spends a great deal of time studying it, he hates the Technocracy for taking so much magick out of the world. Omarion is deeply and madly in love with a Nephandus named Laydina Millar, though he would never wish to become a member of the Nephandi himself. Omarion is constantly afraid that his relationship with Laydina will be found out as fraternizing with a member of the Nephandi like that is a crime punishable by Gilgul. Omarion is in conflict with his own Avatar about Laydina and that in addition to the fear of discovery have made him rather tired as of late and his worry and mental stress have not lessened with his fallen lover suddenly going missing in the middle of Texas. Omarion prefer to talk and think his way out of situations rather than fight, he do have a problem with his passions however, they often get to intense, that can be anger flaring up but it can also be the passion with which he defend someone who's rights have been stepped on, or how he have let love control his reason and continued to have a relationship with a Nephandus. All in all Omarion is a good man who try his best, but he can get a bit gloomy at times and he do have a flair for the dramatic, if you are his friend he will willingly die for you and if you need his help and he feel you have a just cause he will do everything in his power to set things straight.

Tradition/Convention: Omarion is a member of the Order of Hermes Tradition, he is initiated into House Guernicus but he is not an acting Quaesitor, having given up that position when he became Deacon Primus of Chantry Cultro Sapientiae.

    Spheres: Prime: 5, Spirit: 4, Life: 3, Forces: 3, Mind: 2, Matter: 2, Entropy: 1

Rotes: Blades of the Celestine Spirit 4, Prime 2 (Creates a magical sword that can cut through Ephemera and harm spirits.) Seven Days Of Wisdom Life 2, Mind 2 (Allow the mage to stay up studying for seven days without needing sleep.) Enchant Weapon Prime 2 (Also any object to be enchanted to do aggravated damage.) Create Node Prime: 5 (Exactly what it says, it allow the mage to create a node, though the magick is difficult and extremely demanding.) Watch the Weaving Prime 1 (Allow the mage to see what another mage's rote do.) Soothe the Trembling Essence Prime 5, Spirit 4 (Allow the mage to heal damage caused by pattern bleeding and other irregularities in another willworker's Quintessence flow.) Fireball Forces 3, Prime 2 (Allow the mage to cast a ball of Fire.)

Foci and Paradigm: Omarion have a typically Hermetic Paradigm, he believes that the great energy of Quintessence links all things, and as such what is above is like what is bellow and vice versa, so by manipulating the personal micro cosmos of his own mind using ritual words and hand gestures he can also manipulate the macro cosmos of the physical world and beyond that even the Spirit world and the realms of pure concept themselves. Omarion's foci are based around creating small, ritual representations of what he want to happen and by that activate the link between all things that is Quintessence. Omarion's chants are in Latin and he uses the traditional hand gestures of Hermetic forms. Symbols are important to Omarion for through such imagery one can make a micro cosmos that being in yourself and which then can expand outwards to affect all layers of reality and beyond. Omarion have a mixed mental and energy model Paradigm which in short bases itself on using formal ritual, mystical symbols and ancient words to create a personal micro cosmos where the desired effect have already taken effect, or in other words a powerful, ritualistic imagination. The connection that Quintessence creates between all things then makes the imagination true in the physical world or even the Spirit world through sympathetic magick. Or to put it very simply Omarion uses Hermetic words, gestures and ritual to help him imagine the effect he want into his own fantasy world and then rely on the concept of above so below and as below to above to make this imagination into reality.

Nature and appearance of Avatar: Omarion's Avatar is of the Questing essence, it is strong but this is both a boon and a problem. The Avatar do give allot of raw magickal potential with just how much Quintessence it give it's host access to, however it is also willful and not at all pleased about Omarion's relationship with Laydina. Omarion's Avatar appear to his host in dreams in the form om a blind man in his prime with white wings on his back, a silver sword in one hand and silver scales in the other. It is a Spirit of truth and justice and it want Omarion to fight for these values, something it feel it's host do not do when meddling with a Npehandus. Omarion's Avatar know how to let it's displeasure known by refusing to allow it's host any more Seekings and also visiting terrible nightmares on him. Other then on the topic of Laydina Omarion get along well with his Avatar though he do not know the soul shard's actual goal.

Why you’re here: Two weeks ago Omarion's Nephandi lover Laydina Millar went to Loveland Texas, the old Hermeric do not know why his beloved went to this place, a city generally considered hostile to supernaturals of all kinds, all he got was a text message from her saying where she had gone and that she would see him soon. Noe Laydina have vanished, she is not answering her phone and Omarion is worried about her safety, since he can not exactly admit to dating a Npehandus, he have decided to go and look for Laydina himself.

History: Omarion was born on Horizon in 1763 to Sleeper parents, he had two younger sisters and his childhood was filled with love. Omarion's father was a cobbler his mother a maid for one of the great Chantry's mages, the family was not rich but it did have everything it needed and none of the Grayvale children ever had to go to be hungry. When he was twelve years old Omaion Awakened. It was a spontaneous Awakening that happened when his younger sister Gabriele got attacked by a dragon while the two of them was out of Concordia Ciry exploring, without their parents knowing or approval mind you. Omarion suddenly felt something snap into place inside of him, and suddenly he felt the world make sense like it never had before, it was like waking up after a long sleep to touch and feel the real world when he had not realized he had only seen illusions and dreams before. Omarion's Awakening effect, a spear of Prime scared the dragon who was trying to get it's claws into his sister's tender flesh away. Omarion was rather shocked by the episode and rather light headed as he was in the grip of his Epiphany, but he did manage to get Gabriele and himself back to their small home in Concordia where he told his parents what had happened even if he knew they would get angry at him for taking his sister outside of the safety of the city gates.

Soon a mage was called to the Grayvale residence and he could confirm that Omarion had indeed Awakened, the young boy was quickly offered a place at the Mus Collage Chantry, and even if he did not want to leave his parents and sisters he accepted, the chance to study magick at such a prestigious Chantry being to good an opportunity to pass up. Omarion's parents where beaming with pride the day they son left for Mus, one of their children would become a mage. Omarion hated leaving his family, but he soon accepted his new life at Mus and got engulfed by his studies.

For five years Omarion studied at Chantry Mus, the boy showed remarkable talent for the Prime Sphere but he also worked hard with and excelled with Spirit. One day one of Omarion's friends, a boy about the same age named Shane was accused of stealing Tass from the Chantry's stores. Shane was sentenced to twenty lashes with a leather belt but Omarion felt this was not right, he successfully managed to convince the Chancellor, the Chantry's leader that there just was not enough evidence that Shane was the guilty party and that to punish him without enough evidence would not be justice. More than Shane was impressed with Omarion that day, a Quaesitor who was visiting Mus to speak with the Chancellor got interested in the young mage's fine sense of justice and so he offered to take him on as his private apprentice, Omarion accepted this offer and when Hagal Midran left Mus he took the young boy from Horizon with him.

Hagal lived in a Chantry on Earth and it was quite an adjustment for Omarion to get used to a place where magick was not widely accepted other than by superstitious pheasants and Paradox which was nearly non existent on Horizon and Mus was not an easy thing to deal with, but Omarion managed and he also did well in his studies. Some years after he had met Hagal Omarion was initiated into the Order of Hermes and House Guernicus, a few years after that he became a full fledged Quaesitor.

For several years Omarion served loyally as a Quaesitor, his quest for justice among his fellow mages made his Questing Avatar happy and for a while he advanced quickly magickally. Omarion was very happy, he felt he did good work, he investigated crimes against the Protocols and helped keep peace and order in the Traditions. Omarion did not like it when he had to interrogate prisoners, especially not when he was forced to use torture, nor did he enjoy it when those he got convicted was sentenced to beatings, death or branding, his kind nature did not like to see others suffer, but as long as justice was done he knew he had to do the job, Omarion have never been involved with a Gilgul case and he is thankful for that, for such a punishment is to horrible to even contemplate.

When Omarion was 83 years old his father died and for the first time the mage was starting to realize the cost of the life prolonging magic he used on himself, he still looked like he was in his 20's while his father had gotten old, and his sisters where grandmothers now. Omarion grieved with each family member who passed away and after the death of Gabriele, the one of his sisters he was the most attached to the at this time Adept mage found it hard to ever again from a relationship with a normal human being, they lived in another world than him, even the ones living in the magickal world of Horizon did, and they aged and died while he could use his magick to stay the same. At this time Omarion was starting to feel lonely, his own Mentor was working on an Archmage degree and he had little time for his former student, so after a while Omarion formed a Cabal to live and work with, and that group of other mages became his new family.

Over the years Omarion became a respected Quaesitor, he took two apprentices himself, Timian Holden and Tamara Butaru and he felt a father's pride over both of them. Right before he turned two hundred years old Omarion achieved mastery of the Sphere of Prime, all was going well in his life. Omarion decided that he wanted more time to study magick, and perhaps take on another student so he suggested for his Cabal mates that they should start a Chantry together. The five mages where all Masters or strong adepts so once they put their minds to it the process was surprisingly quick and easy, the Cabal bought and old factory in Boston and soon Chantry Cultro Sapientiae was a reality. Omarion gave up his title of Quaesitor so he could become the new Chantry's Deacon Primus and he found himself looking forward to a more peaceful existence than the one he had lived before when he spent most of his time chasing down those who would break the Protocols and other Tradition laws.

Cultro Sapientiae became a successful Chantry, from Omarion's small Cabal the place grew to have fifteen Awakened members spread over three Cabals. The Chantry had three nodes, two of which Omarion himself had made for it and the now fairly old Hermetic spent his time between working on his eventual mastery of the Spirit sphere and teaching a new student, Missy Monroe, life was peaceful and good, sure there was the occasional Quiet and Paradox backlash and sometimes the Chantry got trouble from the other factions of the Ascension War but for the most part life was good. Then ten years ago Omarion met a woman, her name was Laydina Millar and Omarion had never med a more beautiful woman in his entire life. Off course Omarion had been with women before he had even had relationships, but never had he felt for anyone what he felt for Laydina, lucky for him Miss Millar felt the same for him as he did for her and the two mages begun a passionate and loving relationship.

Omarion thought his life was complete, could it be better, he was a leader of a Chantry with a rising star among the Traditions, he had accesses to a library full of occult books to study his magick with, he had an old mentor who would lend a hand if he needed it and three skilled apprentices of his own and now he also had a woman in his life that he loved dearly, thing got a bit more complicated however when Omarion figured out that Laydina was a member of the Nephandi. Omarion knew Laydina was a mage, but he had assumed she was an Orphan or a member of some Craft but no, she was a honest to the Outsider Things, Qlippothic Spheres wielding, fallen Nephandus. The elder Guernicus knew he should leave well enough alone and get as far away from Laydina as he could, but he loved her to much. Omarion knew what he did when he continued to be with Laydina was a cime punishable by Gilgul, but he was willing to risk even his own Avatar and with it his magickal powers to be with the woman he loved. Omarion and Laydina made a pact with one another, neither would try to convert the other to their side, and so far neither of them have tried, they will sneak off to meet one another whenever they can and generally talk as little as they can about their individual factions. Omarion will never agree to become a Npehandus, and Laydina serves the Nephandi Lords, they can never be of the same faction and their individual groups will never tolerate their relationship so it have to stay in the shadows, something that in a way only makes it even more passionate.

A few weeks ago Omarion got a text message from Laydina, she said she was going to Loveland Texas but she have since vanished. Omarion is worried about his beloved's safety so he have gone to Loveland as well, apparently Laydina is not the only one who have vanished and Omarion know he have to solve the mystery to get his woman back, preferably without any other mages figuring out that he was actually there to look for a Nephandus, a Nephandus he shares bed with quite often. Yes the pressure is on, but Omarion know he will do everything in his power to figure it out and rescue his beloved before it is to late.

Equipment: Omarion own a apartment at his Chantry, a collection of occult books, a simple wardrobe, a few modest pieces of jewelry, a few ritual items, a bank account with about 20 000 dollars on it. With him to Loveland Omarion have his old blue Audie, a book where he records things to do with his magickal studies, a few other occult books, his valet, a Iphone 2, a laptop, a few shifts of clothes, some pepper spray, a little framed picture of Laydina and another of his mentor and apprentices and a few other personal odds and ends.

I will cs when I get on my laptop. I'm phone accessing now
I have come to be known as a walking sin on this forsaken world. A world where apparently all these gods control our wakes, our lives. I challenge those gods, dare them to put themselves against me. Karma has not bitten me in the ass for what I've done. God has not struck me with his almighty hand. The Jews are trying to sue me but they try to sue everyone so that doesn't count. I will challenge any god who steps forth into this world for they have no power, their only ability is to make idiots think they are worthwhile. I say proudly that these gods are worthless, I will scream it from the top of the world to the end. I am a walking sin, and I live in happiness.
