He is roughly 6'1" in height, has a masculine facial construction and athletic build. His skin is fair. His eyes are a bright blue, nearly white. His hair is white and is medium length, usually straight. He wears a black hooded jacket, gloves, jeans and boots that allow fast and free movement.
He is very calm and collected almost all of the time, you could barely ever see him get worried or angry, unless you really cross the line. In which case, he appears calm, but if you go too far, he will get hostile, but it rarely ever happens. He also doesn't talk unless he thinks he has to, leading some people to believe he was mute. Joseph is also bilingual, speaking English and Italian. He plays guitar, too. He usually plays his electric guitar to himself, alone. Unless someone got him to perform, then he would play for other people. He can be a bit shy about his singing, although it's really good, which he doesn't believe himself.
Joseph grew up normally, but as normal as he was. He didn't speak to people much, and would stay outside and play his guitar to himself. If he was sure he was alone, he'd sing along with it, but it rarely happened. He didn't have much friends as a result. Although he lacked being social, he was very intelligent and athletic, earning respect from his peers growing up in Death City. When he was 16, he started attending the DWMA to learn to be a Meister and harness the powers of a Meister. His parents were both former students and both talked to him about it. After they all agreed, they mailed a letter to Lord Death with Joseph's information and both his mother's and father's signatures. A few days later, they received a letter saying that Joseph would be attending the next school year.
One year later, this day had been looked forward to for a long time. Joseph's parents gave him a suitcase with his belongings and a goodbye. As he climbed the stairway, he saw many faces through his hood, most of them his age. He just kept treading upwards. When he reached the top, he was given a pin that said "Meister" and was let into the gathering hall with a crowd of people, but he was told he could roam around. He walked up to a balcony and played his guitar in a slow but fast tune.
