'Keep smiling Mel, keep smiling' the words rang in her head over and over, mom always told her no mater how hard life got just to keep on smiling through it. Her life wasn't perfect, her dad died before she was born and it was just her mother who raised her her whole life. It wasn't till she was 13 was that she found a new man, let me tell you he wasn't the best one. Sure he acted perfect, sure he treated them kindly but when it came to wed-lock then everything changed, he treated her mother like a piece of filth and yet she didn't seem to mind it at all, even did it to Mel and no matter how much she complained her mother seemed blinded by it all. She was the focus of his drunken anger, always beat her when she seemed to screw up in his eyes called her many names that beat at her emotionally. Though no matter what she did what her mom told her and kept on smiling, but one day it just got to much for her and while in the middle of packing up in the middle of the night her step dad managed to catch her. He tried to stop her but she managed to take hold of the beer bottle in his hand and smashed it over his head, at first she cried thinking he might be dead and hearing her mothers footsteps coming she had no time to check. She jumped from the secondary window and then everything went to black.
"Hm?" Her eyes fluttered open and her lips parted to let a yawn through, lifting her arm she rubbed her eyes and waited for her sight to clear to see properly. She arrived here by a series of very nice people who picked her up and dropped her, hitchhiking was it called? She didn't have money for a plane or taxi she actually used her skates to finish the rest of the mileage and as she recalled she did about 20 miles along the highway. She tucked down in an alleyway behind a dumpster near a biker bar, witch she was surprised no one bothered her and fell to sleep soon after she settled. She stood up and stretched, almost falling over and not seeing she still had her skates on and slowly she moved out of the alley. "I'm hungry," she muttered rubbing her stomach and hearing it rumble loud even others could hear it if it was quiet enough and she looked towards the dumpster she was hobbled behind, did she dare try to take something out of it? Her body shuddered and she shook her head, "ew gross," and smacked her lips, leaning up against something she didn't even know what it was more focused on the map she pulled from her duffle bag, "let's see there's a nice place here." 'Clank!" She heard some sort of sound, metal against metal she believed it was and suddenly she was falling over. The clanging sound kept repeating and pulling her hood from over her eyes she saw what it was, motorcycles that were lined up toppling over like a line of dominoes, "no no no no!" She squealed and rolled over to the end of the line trying to stop them from falling, though even she tried hard her effort was fruitless and soon the line ended and most of them were scratched up. "What the hell is going on out here?" A big burly biker came out of the bar and not seeming all to friendly and Melanie was standing there stupidly at the end giving out a slight chuckle and a wave, "umm, sorry?" That didn't matter, he called for his friends and she was already racing down the street, literally square center of the street unfortunately for her it wasn't as packed today so they could easily slip through cars like she could. Looking over her shoulder she saw a whole gang was after her, she couldn't out speed bikes but she tried her best to, "I'm dead I'm dead," she repeated over and over and turned a sharp turn down a side street hoping she would lose them, unfortunately she was wrong.
