[Advanced RP] Game of Thrones - aSoIaF

A Song of Ice and Fire: Game of Thrones - Dragonbane

    OOC THREAD
    Chatroom

Focus of the RP is not to lose ourselves in game mechanics, instead this is a game of logic, reason and collaborative writing. Our goal is not to have an overly competitive game, but to immerse into a nice creative experience for all parties. We write a story with each other, not against each other.

Generally, players will either pick up a canon house or create their own house and roleplay with several members of it. This means each player is entitled to several characters per house. However, they do not all have to be members of said house by ties of blood. Instead you can use several types of characters as points of views.

Naturally there are other options in the world of Westeros, such as Septons, hedge knights, spies and spymasters, mercenaries, merchants from across the Narrow Sea, and many more. Additionally, as spots fill up or the need arises, players are allowed to play as more than one house or take over a fallen one.

    OOC Rules and Guidelines:
    • GM is myself. Feel free to contact me whenever should you require assistance or information.
    • Advanced standards; common sense approach; game of logic and collaboration.
    • Character Sheets should be posted on the OOC (though they can be sent via pm as well) for approval/disapproval. Not all decisions will be made public.
    • You are assumed to be an adult by submitting a character for this game; please act like one.
    • Players playing Great Lords will have the chance to weigh in on applications for Minor Lords under their Great Lord.
    • Applications may take a few days before a decision can be made. Generally issues will be resolved over pm.
    • Players are encouraged to play typically one-on-one scenarios, large battle scenarios, cloak-and-dagger scenarios, small plots and large plots. To be creative, and to interactive with their fellow players on their own to plot. Take initiative.
    • Players are allowed to play as more house than one, however not in the same territory or region. It would also not be allowed if players wished to take up more than one Great House.
    • House Targaryen is currently being held for storytelling purposes, though if you have an idea or request, run it by us.

    IC information:

The year is 141 after Aegon’s Landing and King Aegon, third of his name, sits on the Iron Throne. Though the Dance of Dragons ended in the crowning of a single king and reconciliation of both sides by marrying the daughter of Aegon II. Still, the scars of the massive conflict remain. Aegon’s rule is strained by the fact he is only twenty-one and just entering into manhood.

The Lords of Westeros have kept the peace more so out of necessity than will, though ever since Aegon’s coming of age four years ago, there has been an increase in control and influence that the Iron Throne exerts over six of the Seven Kingdoms. Several troublesome lords have been brought in line and hear the young voice of King Aegon III.

With the power of the dragons broken, House Targaryen has had to look elsewhere for a means to stay in power and it has become more than evident that with the last true dragon gone, the balance of things has shifted considerably.

However, Aegon seems intent on re-establishing Targaryen supremacy over Westeros by any means necessary. Will the High Lords respond loyally to his efforts? Or have the years of low regal authority fanned the embers of independence?

    Words are wind.

    OOC information:

The lords and ladies of Westeros have enjoyed much freedom in the past decade while Aegon was being kept well guarded and protected in the Red Keep. The remaining dragons are small, deformed and sickly and do not tend to live for much longer than a dozen years. The pitiful creatures can only produce moderate fire and seem unable to take to the air for long periods of time.

The Realm suffered great losses during the civil war and ever since the coronation of Aegon III, people have worked to rebuild. Now, the Kingdoms are comparably of the same strength and prosperity as before the great conflict.

This takes place way before any of the books (and series adaptation). As such you would need to check for canon information on the wiki. Though many things are the same as they are in the timeline of the books, there can be slight differences. For example: Dorne is not subjugated to the Iron Throne. The Reynes of Castamere, Tarbecks of Tarbeck Hall and Darkly of Duskendale are still around.

Greetings sinistred, perhaps I can throw my hat into the ring for a great house?

Remade Lord Randyll answers the call if so.
