    Problems and Solutions [PandaNerd and Firesoul01]{Legend of Zelda}

The clack of her boots echoed down the halls as she walked. Her hair flowed behind her as her eyes glanced at everything. This afternoon was the guard's trial. It was a test that every person who wanted to be a royal guard of Hyrule had to take. Once outside, she started to check to make sure that everything was in order.

"Princess Zelda," a guard said sternly.

Turning around, the girl looked to see a rather old guard. His name was Makarov. He was a wise guard in his sixties who has always been there for her since she was young. Zelda smiled and laughed, "Sorry, I know you told me to leave the inspections to you, but I wanted to come outside for a bit. Saying that I was checking in on everything was the only way that the scholars would let me leave."

Macarov sighed and shook his head, a small smile growing on his face, "You might as well sit down. The trial is about to begin and you need to be here to examine everyone anyway."

    Zelda nodded sternly, "Of course."

Link sat, watching Zelda's every move. He had been hired to kill her, but killing her in daylight like this would be near impossible to kill her and not get caught.
But he had an idea, pulling out his dart bow and arrow he held it at ready, pointing it at the weak spot in her guards armor.
He held it steadily and then let it fly and ducked down so no one would hear them. The screams from the crowd where enough to tell him he had got a bulls eyes and her guard was dead.

"Loki: So, I'm no more than another stolen relic? Locked up, here, until you might have use of me!
Odin: Why do you twist my words?
Loki: You could have told me what I was, from the beginning! Why didn't you?
Odin: You're my son. I wanted only to protect you from the truth.
Loki: What? Because I...I...I...I'm the monster that parents tell their children about at night?
    Odin: No! No!
Loki: It all makes sense now. Why you favored Thor, all these years! Because no matter how much you claim to love me, you could never have a Frost Giant sitting on your throne of Asgard!"

Zelda's eyes widened as she watched Makarov fall backwards. He fell to the ground with a loud crack, the noise coming from his head roughly hitting the ground. For a moment, she went through shock as she tried to understand what had happened. Quickly, she was on her knees at his side. Holding back tears, she yelled for the guards to get the medics while she ordered a few others to find the person who had fired the arrow.

Grabbing hold of Makarov's hand, she begged, "Please don't die now... Of all the ways to loose such a dear friend, it can't be like this..."

Makarov smiled slightly, using what was left of his strength to place a cold hand on Zelda's warm cheek, "My princess, hearing those words from you has made this old man happy. Please be safe, Princess Zelda. You shall lead this country to greatness. I am sure of it..."

His wise hazel eyes then lost the life they once held. The hand on her cheek fell to his side and his breathing became weak before stopping altogether. Blood pooled on the ground around them, dirtying Zelda's dress. It seemed as if his life was drained from him. Makarov's appearance - that had once seemed full of life - looked as if the life had been drained from him. The hand Zelda was holding went limp and felt as if it was slowly going cold.

Zelda let go of his hand and stood up. Her bangs covered her eyes while the wind whipped her hair around. The front of her dress from her knees downward was covered in blood. Suddenly, she looked up at the guards who were still standing around. With fury and determination in her eyes, she spoke, "I want this assassin found and brought before me! I will kill him myself!"

With that said, the rest of the guards quickly scattered. Looking at the new people who had come in hopes of becoming a guard, Zelda sighed, "Please return tomorrow at the same time to take the test. It seems as if we must use today to aprehend the assassin. I am very sorry for any disappointment you may have."

(( I thought it would be cute to add Ariel from Wind Waker into this. ))

Link smirked to himself and jumped off the roof with a swish of his green colored cape.
Although all the other assassins in his "clan" wore, black or white. Green suited him best, and he was never one for rules.
He jumped on his horse and kicked her and she started to run off, he pulled down his hood and held onto the reins as Epona ran back to his hideout, only a small ride from here. He held onto the reins with one hand and fixed his blonde hair with the other.
It was almost dark now and the full moon shone in his blue eyes.
Ug a full moon, that means Arial would be cowering in corner somewhere.

When he got to his hideout a young girl, only about 14 was hiding in the corner. "Go away! I'm not tasty." She squealed.
"Arial it's me." Link said, taking off his cloak. She jumped and grabbed onto him "I thought you where a vampire! Or a werewolf!" She cried, she had blonde hair like his and blue eyes. "Arial, there is no such thing." He said, slightly annoyed.
"Okay big brother, but when a monster eats you don't come running to me." She said, getting off of him.
    He sighed, silly superstitious girl.

"Loki: So, I'm no more than another stolen relic? Locked up, here, until you might have use of me!

    ( Ariel! )

As the moon shone in the sky, Zelda stood sadly on the balcony in her room. Standing barefoot in her white nightgown, she bit down on her lip. Tears threatened to spill, but she quickly wiped them away. As the moonlight made it seem as if her skin was glowing, she closed her eyes and folded her hands in front of her.

She silently prayed for everything to be alright. Zelda wished that the assassin would be caught and that no one else would be injured or killed. It was then that she sword to kill this assassin no matter what. Swearing to herself that she would make Makarov proud, she turned around and headed into her room. Closing and locking the balcony doors, she then flopped onto her bed and fell asleep.

    ----

It was the afternoon of the next day and she was once again outside. Looking over the training grounds, she was happy that the place had been cleaned. Slowly, the people who hoped to be guards filled into the area. Glancing over them, she stood tall. Guards were also in the area in case another incident happened. Zelda really didn't want to do this today, but she would do it for Makarov.

"Welcome to the testing for being an official Royal Guard of Hyrule. If you have came back after yesterday's events, than you certainly have the guts needed to be a guard. Let us see if you have the other qualities though," she stated.

Early in the morning Link got up and started to get dressed, Ariel sat up rubbing her eyes and looked at him. He must had shook the bed to hard when he got up and woke her. "Where are you going Big brother?" She asked, lowering her hands. He pulled on his shirt and boots and smiled "I'm going to the castle. I'm gonna see if I can get a job there." He said, trying to sound excited.
She smiled. "Thats great brother!" She said happily. Ariel didn't know that he was an assassin, he told her he just had a job to do to whenever he was hired. He sat down next to her and kissed her forehead "Yes. It is, now go back to sleep and don't leave the house, okay?" He asked. Ariel huffed "I don't know why I have to stay locked up in here." She said sadly. He looked down "Because, I want to keep you safe Ariel. You're all the family I have left and the only one I care about. I can't loose you like we lost mom and dad." He said quietly, still sitting next to her. She frowned and played with her feet "Be safe?" She said, half a statement, half a question. "Always." He whispered, kissing her forehead again. And then he left.

Getting on Epona he rode to the castle and tied her up outside it. "Who'r you?" A guard asked him as he walked to the castle. "I'm here to try for the guarding duty." He said surely. "After what happened to ol' Makarov i'm surprised anyone wants to take that job. Yeah it pays we'll an' all but." The guard trailed off.
"I'm here to try for the guarding duty." Link repeated. " a'right, a'right." The guard said wearily opening the door to let him in.
    "That was easy." He muttered.
He walked into the court yard just in time for Zelda's speech.
"Welcome to the testing for being an official Royal Guard of Hyrule. If you have came back after yesterday's events, than you certainly have the guts needed to be a guard. Let us see if you have the other qualities though."
    He heard, from the balcony.
He sighed, now it was time for the real work to begin. He had never worked so hard for a kill, but one had never paid so well.

"Loki: So, I'm no more than another stolen relic? Locked up, here, until you might have use of me!
Odin: Why do you twist my words?

"The first thing you shall do is spar against one of the other guards. If you win, you move onto the next test. If you fail, you must leave the castle immediately and wait until next year to try again," she stated. Zelda glanced down at the people who had stuck around. There were only ten people here compared to the seventy from yesterday. She sighed as she remembered last evenings events.

"Zelda," her father stated. Looking at him, she raised an eyebrow. What could he have to ask her that was so important that he was telling her personally. Standing up from her chair and the dinner table, she bowed before straightening back up.

    "Yes Father?" she questioned.

"After the events of today and Makarov's death, I have decided that the person who passes the guard's test will be your new personal guard. If there are several people, you will choose the person who did the best. Understood?" he asked.

Zelda's eyes widened. She was being forces to replace Makarov so soon? She didn't even have much time to mourn over him! This was rediculous. Knowing the price of talking back, she nodded, "Understood."

Biting her bottom lip, she subconciously balled her hands into fists. No one could ever replay Makarov. No one.

    _____-----TIMESKIP-----_____

After training, fighting and getting to the top. He was one of the eight who where left.
Harakat, a tall man with dark cold eyes.
Gregare, a short broad man with green, lazy eyes.
Iterity, a tall, scrawny man with brown hair and eyes.
And a few others, all were taller, stronger, a meaner looking than Link.
But he knew he was fast, but that didn't count for much.

He held his breath as a guard announced Zelda was coming to choose her guard.

"Loki: So, I'm no more than another stolen relic? Locked up, here, until you might have use of me!

Walking into the training area, she stopped and glanced at everyone. Most of them were tall and had quite a lot of muscle, but her eyes stopped on Link. For him to have come so far with little muscle, she knew he had to have both speed and strategy. Biting her bottom lip, she made a final choice. It'd be best to have someone who could strategize instead of run head on into battle.

Smiling slightly, she stood there and spoke, "Congratualtions to all of you! You have passed the test. Please follow the guards to the dining room while there shall be a feast in your honor!"

Her eyes once again landed on Link before continuing, "I need you to stay behind for a few minutes."

Soon enough, the other guards had led the new guards to the dining room. Standing there, Zelda's face suddenly lost it's smile and became serious, "I have one final thing for you to do."

Link bit his lip, a million things ran threw his mind. She had found out he was the one who killed the guard, she was going to kill him, Arial what about her, what if he didn't come home, she wouldn't have any money or or way to stay alive. Even worse, what if Zelda found out he had a little sister, would she kill her too?
He gulped and nodded "Yes your highness?" He asked quietly.

"Loki: So, I'm no more than another stolen relic? Locked up, here, until you might have use of me!
