Oh my god yes. Ahem. I mean... I am very interested in this. I like SAO very much and would like to join.
Hello, all! I've just finished the series so I'd really like to get a SAO RP going. I'd really prefer to keep with OCs, since canon characters seem to put people on edge. OCs give us some more creative freedom anyway. Once we have a few people interested, I'll start an OOC board.
Anyone is free to join, but there are a few things I'd like to mention:
- I'm not overly picky with spelling/grammar mistakes, but please try and use spell checks when possible.
- No one-liners.
- If you're going on hiatus/can't reply for a while/etc, let us know.
- Keep the drama IC!
To anyone not familiar with the plot, here's a short summary from Wikipedia:
If you have any questions about the plot or anything else, feel free to post here or PM me or anyone else who joins. Like I said, once it seems we have a few people interested I'll begin the OOC board.![]()

Sign me right up. SAO has had me full of RP ideas since I was watching it at release.

Well, uhh, that was quick. ^^
Let me get some lunch (I haven't eaten yet...oops) and I'll get to work on the OOC board and character sheet outline.![]()
These type of rp's are a pain because its based off a game with stats like HP and such id suggest cutting out every stat in the game and make it so its completely player skill based (unless you have a system worked out for the rpg system of coarse)
I'm still interested!! Save me a spot![]()
I'm interested... I tried to join an SAO game when I first joined... but it sadly fell apart before it even started.
I agree, although there are some elements that might require an assumption of stats. Say, for example... carrying heavy stuff. In the anime, it's implied that a character with higher strength can carry heavier items. For this RP, it would be easiest to just say that higher level OCs are physically stronger, without specifying exactly how much stronger. That way, as you say, player skill and imagination plays a bigger part than the OC's ingame level.

There is a way to do "levels" in forum based rps. I'm in a couple that actually have a level system. They each have different ways of gaining experience and such, but they both work well. I don't quite understand the taboo with stats in forum based roleplay, I mean I can imagine why people don't like it, but if done well there really is no difference between having stats and not. All it does is set parameters for you to roleplay your character well while keeping them balanced. So long as it's all done intelligently and in a way that doesn't inconvenience gameplay all should be well and good.
