The only position that leaves me with no cognitive dissonance is atheism. It is not a creed. Death is certain, replacing both the siren-song of Paradise and the dread of Hell. Life on this earth, with all its mystery and beauty and pain, is then to be lived far more intensely: we stumble and get up, we are sad, confident, insecure, feel loneliness and joy and love. There is nothing more; but I want nothing more.

Changed the character app to only require a 2 paragraph sample post, including 2 lines of dialogue.

    Roster has also been updated.

Character You Would Like to Play: Clint Barton II/Hawkeye

Character Alignment (Hero, Villain, or Walking the Line): Hero

Appearance/Costume (Briefly describe or post a picture of what your character's costume looks like):

Basically like this, but replace the white with purple. And with more bow and arrows, of course.

    http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TnQtW4Jbo7...+wallpaper.jpg

Outside of his suit, Barton is the spitting image of his great grandfather.

Origin/History of Your Character and Their Personality: During the Great Cataclysm, Clint Barton, the original Hawkeye, was on a mission with Mockingbird, his then ex-wife. The two survived, and eventually made their way back to the shattered remains of SHIELD. The remaining heroes of the country strove valiantly to keep the country together, but failed, leading to the rise of the Corporations that now have carved up the country.

Knowing all was lost and they would be a threat to the new regimes rising, non-superpowered SHIELD agents went into hiding, changing their names and blending into the background. During this, Hawkeye and Mockingbird found their love for each other once again, and remarried, having a son in the process.
Clint Barton, not being one to sit by and do nothing, trained his son in his combat arts behind Bobbi’s back, and even went on espionage missions against the new regimes for a clandestine SHIELD initiative led by the surviving Nick Fury.

Barton and Morse’s line continued on for two more generations to get to today, but not without bumps. The current Hawkeye was born a mutant in Philadelphia, a part of L-Corp’s territory. He was marked as an X-gene positive at the time of his, and his twin, mutant sister's, birth and was going to be taken for experimentation as all X-positive babies were in L-Corp territory.

But his father would have none of that. Using the family’s trademark skills, he smuggled his family out of the city limits and into the badlands. Unfortunately, he was killed in the process, leaving his wife, babies, and older son alone in the desolate area. Luckily, they were found by the being known only as “The Wanderer” and were taken across country to Las Vegas, which mutant kind had turned into a haven against the outside world.

His mother named the child Clint Barton II, after his great grandfather. When he came of age, his older, teen brother Eric began teaching his brother and sister Lana the skills his father had imparted to him before he died, and Clint took to them like a fish to water. His supreme physical attributes made him the perfect soldier, and the leader of the Vegas commune took note of the entire family. Lana had a mutant ability of her own, able to control her vocal cords into a powerful scream and the ability to change her voice at will. Eric volunteered to help the city out by making runs into Corp-controlled areas to gather supplies and intel under the name Arsenal. And when Clint and Lana came of age, he entered into the X-Men program.

Vegas’s leader, Xi'an Chi Xan, had reformed the team as a rallying cry for mutant kind, and a way to protect his people. But he saw much more potential for young Clint than being a member of a team, and began forming a plan for a new, covert team to strike at critical Corp targets and supply lines.

The time came for Clint to lead such a team after Eric was killed in Cobra territory searching for a new weapon they had developed: a brand new combat suit that would give Cobra supremacy in the Corps war. Eric managed to get the info to Las Vegas before he was found and killed.

Clint and his team, dubbed X-Force, were dispatched into Cobra’s territory, managing to capture the battle suit as well as destroy its production facility. The suit was then modified and given to Barton, who is now the city’s, as well as mutant kind’s, most powerful and deadly warrior.

Clint's personality is similar to his great grandfather, with a quick wit, sometimes to a fault. That being said, he's dedicated to the mutant cause, and is determined to fight the oppression of the Corps. He also keeps a secret vendetta to destroy Cobra for killing his brother. But he loves his mother and sister with all his heart, and sees his other teammates like family.

Powers and Abilities: Clint’s mutant abilities give him superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, and endurance. His powers are similar to those of the legendary Captain America. On top of that, Clint has been trained to be the best marksman in the known world, as his father and his father before had been as well. He’s also proficient in hand to hand combat, making Clint deadly with almost any weapon known to man.

Hawkeye has also stolen a sophisticated battle suit from Cobra, and has fitted it to suit his own needs. It allows him to tap into Corp communications as well as other stealth and black op functions.

    Supporting Cast (If Any):

    -Lana Barton/Mockingbird (twin sister)
    -Heather Barton (mother)
    -Lemuel Halcon/Bloodhawk
    -Diamonda LaSalle/Sham

Sample Post (must be a minimum of 4 paragraphs with at least 2 lines of dialogue from your character):

Clint Barton was used to situations like this. Hell, far too many people were in this day and age. Danger was around every corner for people like him. He almost laughed as he thought of that. People like him? There were no people like him. At least, not any exactly like him. Because he was a mutant, the most oppressed people in an age of oppression. He wouldn't lie and say it's easy, but at the same time, he was proud of how hard they fought.

And the explosion that rocked the wall to the building next to him reminded him of the battle he was currently fighting.

"Hey, Bloodhawk," he called into his microphone, "a bit of a warning next time?"

"Maybe next time you can pay attention!" the flying mutant responded above.

"You wouldn't talk to me that way if I could fly!" Hawkeye responded, returning fire at the L-Corp supply shuttle they had just downed. He hit a direct strike on one of the security drones, and the trick arrow exploded on contact, destroying two more.

"I think I would, shrimp!" the gargoyle-like beast screamed as he tore apart a squadron of robotic drones.

A sonic blast then ripped through another group of flying drones, and Clint's sister Lana, codenamed Mockingbird, came through the speakers, "You two done with your pissing contest?"

"Only if Bloodhawk says I won," Clint smiled and winked, rushing towards their recently stolen cache.

Approved, and very nice. I like the mutant/X-Men twist, and the inclusion of Bloodhawk as a main NPC is icing on the proverbial cake.

Thanks. Bloodhawk is awesome. I couldn't NOT have him on the team.

I look forward to wrecking some corporation ass with trick arrows and crazy mutants!

Also, I'm deciding on a second character.

Character You Would Like to Play: Kraftur Otakmarkaour [Concept = Son of Fenrir, By Relation also meaning Grandson of Loki][Could also just be a son of loki]

Character Alignment (Hero, Villain, or Walking the Line): Hero [By choice], Villain [When Overwhelmed]

Appearance/Costume (Briefly describe or post a picture of what your character's costume looks like): .

Origin/History of Your Character and Their Personality: [I will admit the history feels a bit lax, but that may be because it's almost midnight ^.^ I'll add to/Redo it in the morning If It's dissatisfactory]

Kraft and his brother awoke only a short while after the Cataclysm had ended, shocked from their motionless slumber by the unimagineable destruction that took place. From a Tomb in which their Father had hidden them for some reason they emerged to find this place, 'midgard', Torn asunder and in utter chaos, a world in which they quickly blended into the residents of.

They have sense taken up residence within the Kingdom of Asgard, on the same Island of which their Tomb had been hidden, though their lineage and purpose is unknown to the leadership of this land, else they likely would have been under-fire from the beginning. However, The brother's both knew of their lineage from information stored within their minds and Written in the tomb in which they awoke, Making it seem quite suspicious when a 'son of loki' was revealed to be the Ruler of this kingdom of Asgard. They soon began working with the Church of Thor, Though their Reasons for doing so are actually unknown, It's assumed that they can use all the help they can get.

Kraft, as a human, has a habit of appearing unnaturally 'stoic', which is actually because of his efforts to keep his emotions 'stable' and avoid his power going out of control due to becoming enraged or something. Despite this of course, he is actually very emotionally active, just resists showing it as often as possible, though when 'calm' and in his beastial form, he can actually on occasion be described as a 'big puppy', albeit a very intelligent and incredibly dangerous one. It is quite likely that he inherited his grand-father's calculating intelligence, though his predecessor obviously did not use it to it's fullest potential given his obsession with the throne. His brother on the other hand, Has inherited a lot more of their Grand-father, though he has little reason to use those powers for evil reasons yet, he has no real allegiance to 'good' aside from helping his brother. Both Brother's actually hold each-other in much higher regard than they do any other being, and the only one neither will fight for any reason is each-other.

    Powers and Abilities:
    Son of Fenrir:

    Mild Experience in Combat
Implanted Memories and Information about the world [Rather than experience, he has 'information' that he can think of at random]
Capabilities with Ice and Fire magic under certain conditions.
Capable of learning more magic when opportunity presents itself.
Has a 'bond' with his Brother
Highly Strengthened 'Senses' due to his physically Animal Qualities

Supporting Cast (If Any): His brother, Mikill Svikari, who unlike Kraft, Inherited power more akin to their 'grandfather' [that is, deceptive and morally negative types of abilities, I.E. poison, illusions, that such.] rather than The Raw power and rage that Kraft Inherited. [I actually wouldn't mind making a CS for the brother xD I just haven't decided If I want to make him an official character or have him stay as 'supporting'.

    Sample Post:

There is a small Tomb, Hidden deep under-ground beneath Scandinavian Territory, the area now known as the Empire of Asgard, Hidden many years before the Great Cataclysm took place, and within this Tomb something has awoken, stirred from endless slumber by the vast destruction taking place above. Stirring lights of blue and green become visible in the otherwise perfect darkness of the chamber, gathering into words that hovered over slowly awakening forms resting within Capsules, one of which was barely fit for his container.

    Kraftur Otakmarkaour

    Mikill Svikari

Within moments Eyes opened, Colorful glows so very similar to that which was visible above them, Memories and information instantly began to flow that they would be able to understand where they were, 'what' they were, and why they were created, only to find that none of that mattered as they were not bound by any form of magic to keep them there waiting to be used for reincarnation. They had been awoken by the pain of the world, The sensations of mass genocide that lingered on the surface, The Cries of billions of souls, Whether leaving this world or trapped within, and at last, by the death of their father who had originally sealed their existence there to be used.

First spoke a deep voice, one rife with Power and a tinge of Growl to it's tone "Hrrrmmm... It seems...Brother...That we have awakened without purpose..."

Next Spoke a voice that seemed to ooze Silk as though it weren't sculpted to manipulate the Whims of other creatures "Indeed it seems so...brother...Perhaps it is better... I prefer to have no purpose than for that purpose to be as a sacrifice for our now dead father."

"That is true...I would not wish such a fate on any... Though had we not awoken we would not have known... Perhaps we were given what we needed to awaken as individuals if our original purpose failed."

"That is possible... It is also possible that his plot was crushed by the event taking place far above... I can feel so much death lingering above... Perhaps we should go and help, yes?"

"That would be a good idea... Whatever it was seems to be 'over' for now, but it must have been truely devastating... Perhaps it is best we disguise ourselves first as well...It seems something... small and fleshy, is common in this world."

Moments later, both of them had risen, and moments of calm focus saw magic wreathing both of them, weaving similar human forms for each-other, though with subtle differences that would identify them, and both began to ascend a long stair-way that was devoid of light out-side of that which emanated from their bodies at will.

"My my, Father was very thorough with ensuring we would remain hidden... we are so very deep...I wonder how we should interact with those above."

"I would prefer if we try to be... I believe the word is, 'nice'... It would be much more interesting, and enjoyable, if we can be 'liked'... difficult as memories imply that shall be...It shant be easy for those like use to gain trust of anyone...Mortals will be wary of creatures of power... Other's of power will be wary of those who don't join them...This is going to be very trouble-some."

"Very possible, But if worst comes to worst, We always have each-other, no creature in this world is strong enough to turn us against each-other... And even if one did, I'd rather die by your claw than be used as a weapon again you."

The other remained speechless for a time, likely thinking quite thoroughly about what had been said, though never really replying before they got far enough along the stair-way to see light on the other end, and soon the Brother's emerged into a world filled with Chaos, intend on 'not' adding to it, at least for the time being.

I'll never understand people's fascination with colored dialogue...

In other news: Shoryu, I honestly can't stop just staring at your Avatar. I have to rip myself away from it to actually do other things. Very addicting to look at.
