Time of War [WW2-esque RP]

I noticed there weren't many World War 2 sort of RPs up! So I decided to make one that incorporates all the technology, tactics and general story of the war! This is all a work in progress, and if you have any suggestions, feel free to give me them.

The Setting - In an alternate world that has an uncanny resemblance to Earth, there exists two major superpowers; the Osean Federation(based on the United States) and the Union of Yuktobanian Republics(based on the USSR). Both are locked in a war that has engulfed the bulk of the world, but the two have yet to really engage in direct battle, instead using a series of puppet nations and proxy wars to get to each other. Until now.

Operation: Red River - The Osean Federation's ally, the Republic of Emmeria, is in danger of being overwhelmed by both Yuktobanian forces and it's allies. Knowing that if the Emmerians are defeated, a major foothold near the Yuktobanian homeland will be lost, the Oseans draw up a plan to relieve their allies; an amphibious assault on the Eastern coasts of Estovakia, a Yuktobanian-backed nation that makes up the bulk of the invaders marching into Emmeria. However, in order to quickly move off the Estovakian beaches and push inland, strategic roads and bridges must first be captured.

This is where we will come in. Users will be stepping into the shoes of the untested and inexperienced Osean Airborne formations that will be dropping ahead of the invasion force and securing key locations. We will be then stalling enemy forces attempting to counter the amphibious assault before linking up with allied units and joining the push inland. The Operation will not be won through just one battle, but a series of them. Classic technology used by the Allies during World War 2 will be available to us; M1 Garand, the Thompson submachine gun, the M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle. The works.
