Peace is in the grave.
The grave hides all things beautiful and good.
I am a God and cannot find it there,
Nor would I seek it; for, though dread revenge,
This is defeat, fierce king, not victory.
Prometheus, Act I, l. 638., Percy Bysshe Shelley.
Good vs Evil has been a concept as old as time itself, even if the matter of who is 'good' and who is 'evil' depends on perspective. Traditionally it is the good that stads triumphant, evil defeated and driven away. Perhaps this was best seen in the Superhero movement that began in the 30's and carried on until the 21st century.
A villain would appear, usually with some sort of mundane goal, like robbing a bank or trying to take over the world. Obviously they never succeeded. Some dashing hero would rush in faster than a speeding bullet and save the day, taking down whomever had the nuts to try take over the world.
A definite status quo was present. Hero smashes villain, villain retreats to lair and plans again, and then the cycle begins again when the villain returns.
A status quo can be a fragile thing however. So easy to overturn. And that's exactly when the superheroes dropped their guard, believed themselves indomitable.
At the stroke of midnight on the 31st of December 2013, the end of 2012, a secret cabal of supervillains put their plan into motion. Hired assassins from the hitman guild murdered the most influential politicians in the United States, severing the ability to direct the armed forces. Thousands of soldiers in the US army were placed under the control of mind control parasites and helped seize their bases from any non-possessed soldiers. 35 minutes after the attack began, the entire US nuclear arsenal was in the hands of the cabal.
The heroes rose up, wanting to put this villainous takeover down as quickly as possible. However against the forces of the US army, the Hitman's Guilds superhuman assassins, and the members of the Cabal themselves, many of the heroes were either killed or imprisoned in the conflict. Only a handful of the superheroes managed to escape, fleeing from the iron fist of the Cabal.
By Febuary of 2013, the Supervillains had the entirety of America in their control. The land was renamed as The Empire of Gods, with Washington being renamed as Golgotha. Through the use of super science, the people of this new nation had access to all manner of new technologies and vaccinations. They could lead much healthier lives here...if they were willing to give up many of their former freedoms.
And so the Cabal sat enthroned in what was once the USA. Enemy countries watched their every move, fearful and cautious of a continent ruled by supervillains. The founder and leader of the cabal, Magog, is still not satisfied. He will have the rest of the world under his command, or he will see everything other than his domain burnt to ash.

Pyrokinetic metal-head reporting for duty.
It’s not on the menu, but might I suggest the ‘I got my ass kicked’ martini?

Name:

Alias:
Burnout
Age:
29
Appearance:
Yes. That's a fire-mohawk.
Powers/Abilities:
Pyrokinesis:
He is able to generate and manipulate fire.
Super-strength:
Able to press 600 Kg, 2400 KG in Molten Form.
Small-arms fire phases him in normal form, RPG's / High caliber hurts him in Molten form.
Molten Form:
When he uses his molten-form, his skin burns off him, giving him a magma-like look. His overall power is increased about four times when he is molten. He also get's the ability to make lava from his body, however, the lava is only usable for a short-range.
Obviously, he does not like water or extensive cold, and of course, he needs oxygen to use his powers. His powers also consumed quite a lot of carbs.
Background:
Born and raised into the biker-culture. He spent most of his childhood riding on the back of his dad's motorcycle. Hanging around bars and other joints. He learned how to fight, and how to hustle pool before he was 10 years old, he had his first beer on his 12th birthday. He never attended school, but he did pick up a little education from the year and a half when his dad was dating that crack-addict teacher.
He began running with a biker-gang at the age of fourteen, becoming a muscle due to his more than average-size. He got into trouble with another gang, and it ended with him being burnt to a stake, however, little did they know that the place where he was burnt was an old dump-site for radioactive waste. An explosion errupted, and there the 16 year old boy stood, covered in flames, but they didn't hurt him, they only made him stronger.
In the coming four years, he took over the West-coast's movement of the biker gangs. They were now known as " The Burnout Tribe." He joined the Cabal as one of the earliest members, and helped them establish their relationships. He offers the role as the powerhouse over the gangs, as since the takeover off the U.S, the Burnout Tribe operates as the police forces all around the state. Making sure that no one sells drugs or is into the trafficking business without the Cabal's say-so. He's the chief of security, and his seat of power is Vegas, the home of vices where you'll find him drenched in liquor and women.
It’s not on the menu, but might I suggest the ‘I got my ass kicked’ martini?
Never consider yourself a ugly person, consider yourself a beautiful monkey.
Count me in as the resident insane sorceress.

Merp. Character sheet will be up tonight. <3
Hurrah!
Name: Ben Adams
Alias: Magog
Age: 38
Appearance:
Powers/Abilities:
-Quantum Constructs: The cosmic gem embedded into Ben's chest allows him to create objects of solid energy and light, able to forge devices from his own imagination. Anything from melee weapons, blasts of light, energy barriers and small forcefields that allow him to fly and protect him from the vacuum of space are available for him to use. The two key drawbacks of the cosmic gem are that he needs to have full access to his mental faculties to create complex constructs, and that the gem needs to be regularly recharged with Ben's custom-built Quantum Battery so that he can draw upon its power.
Notable Equipment (If applicable.):
- The Cosmic Gem: A fragment of the heart of the universe, filled with incredible power. It's been forcibly bonded into the flesh of Ben's chest, the energy permeating throughout his entire body. As grand as the abilities are, the gems power is not infinite.
-Quantum Battery: As a result of the Cosmic Gem's finite power, Ben personally created a device that would allow him to restore his energies. The Quantum Battery is a small cube filled with white light, able to tap into a near-infinite power source that can refuel the Cosmic Gem. While small enough to carry around, Ben traditionally stores it in his private chambers.
Background: Tragedy has been the driving force of Magog's whole life. Since he was a child he was known to be a prodigy of science, both as a practice and as a study. It was this seemingly natural affinity that led to him getting a spot in one of Harvard's most prestigious science courses. And it was here while studying that he met the woman he would marry, Delilah White.
Their relationship bloomed quickly, growing brighter throughout their college years. They were married before they graduated and both got jobs working at Raxon Labs, assigned to work on a odd junk of meteor rock. A giant red crystal that would become Ben's cosmic gem. Over the course of their work, Delilah would become pregnant with their son and gave birth to Michael Adams while Ben was on the cusp of understanding the nature of the red rock.
There was a shocking swerve in Ben's life then, a lab accident led to a chunk of the red gem hurtling off and embedding itself into Ben's torso. Shockingly it didn't kill him, it...well it fused with him, a symbiosis effect. He found himself developing strange powers as a result, he found that he could build things with the power of his mind.
He did nothing with these abilities at first aside from practice with them in secret, and focused more on doing his job and raising his family. However a side-effect of the gem soon became apparent. For whatever reason his wife was developing a new form of cancer from exposure to the gems residual radiation, and it soon became apparent that modern medicine could do nothing to help her.
Growing desperate, Ben adopted the guise of a supervillain known as 'Magog' and started robbing from banks to fund his research, and tech companies to gather any parts he needed that were unavailable. He could see the cure in his mind, he could save his wife if he could just finish his machinery. But, Ben was hounded every step by 'heroes' the people who wouldn't listen to his motivation, saw things solely in black and white. Their repeated attacks against him were a distraction, kept him so busy that he couldn't finish his machine. His wife died from her cancer, surrounded by inferior minds that couldn't help her.
It's that loss that drives him now. Magog intends to create a perfect world, a world formed by his superior mind. It's the utopian world his wife deserved to be a part of, one where she would still be alive in. He keeps his son under very close guard, the last thing that gives Ben any sense of mental stability at all.

HEX
Name: Cassandra Bisset | Alias: Hex
Gender: Female | Age: 24 | Hometown: New York
POWERS
Hex draws her powers from a realm parallel to our own; The Hexplane. It is a barren land - an endless plane of rock with no natural life of its own, its skies a deep and unsettling purple. Some would say that this empty realm of existence was of no use; and, for the most part, they would be correct. However, using the innate magical abilities passed down through her bloodline, Cassandra learned to harness the ambient power within the vacant world.
The most notable of the powers she attained in doing so is the ability to flit effortlessly between Earth and the Hexplane. As time does not pass in the Hexplane, she is effectively immortal; able to preserve her youth simply by remaining in the strange dimension. Furthermore, to her, the Hexplane is like putty in her hands in that she can mould it to her will - in this dimension, she is omnipotent. When coupled with her ability to transport others to the Hexplane, this allows her to put her enemies through intense mental trauma by submitting them to an eternity of horrifying events. Unfortunately, any injuries sustained within the Hexplane are not effective when the individual is returned to Earth. Should one be killed in the Hexplane, they will simply return to Earth. Regardless, subjecting her enemies to immense mental trauma - which remains even when the individual has left the Hexplane - is one of her favourite pass-times.
Not only able to travel to and manipulate the Hexplane, Hex is also capable of siphoning its infinite magic supply at will, using it in battle situations on Earth. Here, she is significantly less powerful than in the Hexplane, and her magic is limited to blasts of energy, flight, protective forcefields and teleportation. She is also capable of remote viewing, allowing her unprecedented views of the Earth.
ABILITIES
Cassandra's main weapon, aside from her powers, is her ability to manipulate others with ease. She has a particular affinity for manipulating men, who become ensnared by her beauty; but, she is more than capable of persuading women to do her bidding, too. She is a very cunning and tactical foe, able to plan whole sequences of actions quickly, even when under pressure.
Unfortunately, despite her magical and manipulative prowess, Hex is a very weak opponent physically. When involved in direct hand-to-hand combat she is almost destined to fail - especially if she is somehow without her magics. As a result, she is notorious for using her swift teleporting abilities to evade foes and her protective forcefields to deflect damage, choosing to cast her offensive spells from afar.
BACKGROUND
The Bisset family have lived in New York for decades, moving to the Big Apple almost a hundred years ago from Italy. Originally, the Bissets were a travelling group of Romany gypsies; they made their fortune reading palms and selling charms, amongst other things. After settling in New York, the next generation of Bissets continued the family profession by opening a clairvoyant parlour in which they would claim to tell to futures of their clients. They were, of course, frauds - yet, such a thing was unheard of in New York, and so their business thrived and built upon the family's already impressive wealth. However, this pattern was soon to be interrupted.
The birth of Cassandra Bisset marked a significant change in the bloodline. For, as miraculous as it may seem, the girl soon began to display truly magical abilities. She was able to divine from a young age, which allowed her to describe vividly events that were taking place elsewhere and pinpoint their location. This magic trick opened up new possibilities for the Bissets financially, and their wealth continued to grow. Unfortunately for Cassandra, her relatives grew greedy and splurged constantly whilst she saw not a penny. Regardless, she persisted to work despite her unhappiness, and even did some business with the police, who would pay her to track and locate particularly evasive fugitives. However, it all grew too much for Cassy. She grew to resent her family and trust no one. All she wanted to do was get away.
And, just like that; as soon as the thought entered her mind, she did so. One moment she was sat at the dinner table, eating a measly portion of spaghetti - the next, she was in a strange and twisted world. Her wish had been granted. It was at this moment that she realised she possessed powers outside of her remote voyeurism, and - upon the discovery that time did not pass at all in this land - she spent the next sixty years in what she eventually called the Hexplane, perfecting her use of the magical powers she had been born with. However, like many people upon whom power is thrust, she became corrupted by her destructive potential. No longer was she a sweet, young girl who would be taken advantage of. Now, she was a sixteen year old with unthinkable power and over seventy years of pent up rage at her dismissal.
And so she returned to the Earth, intending to wreak her vengeance upon the family that had taken advantage of her and robbed her of a childhood. However, though she had not aged at all whilst in the Hexplane, the Earth had. New York was a very different place - not to mention one in which her family did not live - having died of old age, surrounded by the wealth earned by her daughter. At this moment, full of anger, Cassandra vowed to never again be taken advantage of, and to make the Earth suffer - just as she had.

✰✰✰ As American as a fly shitting on your apple pie ✰✰✰
Name: Lucille Marx. (Luce)
Alias: Sparrow.
Age: Nineteen.
Gender: Female.
Appearance: I'll find a damn picture when I have the time to. Ugh. Picture-hunting is so time consuming. -_____-
Abilities: Little Luce can make you see things that aren't actually there. Push thoughts into your head and make an illusion so realistic that you begin to believe you are wherever she chooses you to be. Luce is known for creating illusions, pressing visual images into a person's head only to make them see all that she wishes for them to view. It is a power that ranges from an organism such as a mere insect, to a whole city beyond deception. With this particular power, there are endless possibilities for Luce to share, allowing her the opportunity to flee without being spotted. It comes in handy when weapons like guns or tranquilizing darts play a deathly role, but it is usually a last resort, a thing she rarely ever turns to. The reasoning behind this – is her power's genuine strength. Luce is more than capable to make a dream a reality. While she cannot read the minds of others nor control them in a sense, she can enter them. Fiddle with them. Envelope them. Altering their minds to link with hers, only for them to see and even feel what she desires. This, however, takes sheer concentration, and an exorbitant amount of effort and energy. As of now, there is only so long that Luce entrusts her power with her safety, relying on it for only a short while before she knows it will turn off for her power does that occasionally. Being that illusions feed off of energy and concentration – both of which she strongly lacks at times – it never seems to last as long as she would like. That being said, she is wary of using it, and only does so in panic-frenzied situations.
Notable Equipment: The girl adores using weapons, especially against other people. She tends to wear a black, lacy suit that expresses her figure with her hair in a loose braid. Despite how skin-tight the body-suit may appear to be, Luce still manages to tuck away weaponry such as knives and such. She personally had a specific kind of ring designed for her that carries a thin laser within it, activated by a button that is nearest her thumb. She is also equipped with tracking chips which can be placed on vehicles, clothes, or even skin directly. Luce has a total of three throwing knives hidden beneath the sole of her boots, and a small compact gun loaded with about a dozen bullets packed at her thigh. She is an experienced martial artist, knows several different fighting techniques, and is immensely agile. It is not only difficult to defeat her, but hard to catch her. Appearance wise, she may look innocent, but she is anything but as such. Luce is utterly ruthless and if it hadn't been for Ben keeping her under control, there is a great chance she would have been on the loose, doing whatever she pleased whenever she felt the need.
Background: To say that her life was fulfilling is an overstatement. Luce hardly remembers much of it at all beyond the age of ten. Before that is nothing but a vague blur and causes her to have severe headaches even considering it. As she grew older, Luce inherited the trait of simply not giving a shit. She stowed away all of what consisted of her past, and went ahead with life. She does, nevertheless, recall her mother and even hints of her step-father. Her biological father was never really apart of her story, and having not even the smallest idea of what he looks like (if she turned out to look like him at all) she never bothered to even mind his existence. Luce does somewhat remember not going to school very much, and having slim to no friends at all. Her mother was a prostitute of some sort, and her step-father worked at their local grocery store. Luce had been in prostitution from a young age, and drugs had been a big part of her day-to-day life. She assumes the reasoning behind her forgetfulness was due to all the drugs, but she knows damn well that she is not even close to being a virgin.
Luce was forced into sex-slavery, and was oblivious to realize that it was illegal with such a faltering education. She'd always been taught that this was how they earned their money, and being that she was old enough, she had to chip in with her share. So she had. Her body had always been used to the point where she even began to think it was apart of life. She saw nothing wrong with it, and even though she was terribly uncomfortable, the drugs always helped her forget. Things continued on like this until the age of fifteen, when her mother and step-father alike were arrested for illegal behavior. She, being a minor, was put under the care of a foster home where Luce was introduced to other children her age. She despised it. Wherever she went, she could never fit in. Her body was caked with scars of abuse, and was outrageously scrawny, more so than any other occupant there. Children often stared at her with beady eyes, and spat mean words. The foster families always resented the fact that they'd been stuck with a child who had an awful past, and often times pleaded that she be exchanged for another. Luce grew to hate people even more. Not only that, but hate society. Hate the police for taking away her parents. Hate everything that existed and stood in her pathway.
Around seventeen, Luce abandoned her final foster home and lived primarily off the streets. She'd grown accustom to the surroundings of bad territory and iffy areas … so much that she even acquired abilities that protected herself and brought forth meals. She had no problem stealing things that she needed, or breaking and entering houses just so she could sleep in a warm bed for a night. Although most people would call that breaking the law, Luce thought of it as providing herself with the things any other person found necessary to life. But, unlike them, she hadn't been born with such wealth, and like any other greedy being, she wanted it. And she wanted other people to suffer. Just like she once had.
Luce came about the Cabal no more than a few months after and offered her power with reluctance. She hadn't ever grown accustom to it, and ignored it more than she did use it when she was younger. She introduced herself to the others as Sparrow, and assisted as a spy and even a helping hand. Luce was always the one who tagged along and helped the team get where they needed to go. She was an excellent fighter, and stood beside her teammates even if she did not trust them all wholeheartedly.
She loved what they did. And really, she wouldn't want it any other way.
