A Coming of Age Tale About A Group of Urban Heroes

*Sister Roleplay to Curb Stompers*

Setting:
Gulf Bay City, California, U.S.A.: A large city located on the western shores of the United States of America. Within the state of California, the city has a large university located within it that within the last few years has become one on the leading research schools into self sustaining power sources as well as protection field technology. The University began research into protection field technology after a large number of meteorites caused substantial global damage a few months ago. The city is also home to numerous beaches which its many youthful inhabitants can be found frequenting throughout the year. The city has a large number of shopping centers which range from generic to down right obscure in and of itself. Restaurants are of international cuisine though you can still find a McDonald's every two blocks. The is home to several sports teams with the official mascot being the Gulf Bay Swordfish and is also one of the largest areas which holds an annual surfing competition. The city is known for having the most year round sunshine in all of North America but is also victim to heavy rain and often tidal wave or flooding threats. Snow hasn't been seen in Gulf City in over a hundred years as the temperature hasn't dropped below 50 degrees since 1872.

Gulf Bay City is primarily thought of as a safe city. However since the 1950's, The Bay (As it's affectionately known,) has been home to several varied gangs of different nationalities all with their own MO's. Drug cartels, and sex trafficking has been known to happen especially in the South end of the city but more often than not the gangs are only known due to their violet wars in the streets. Police have tried for years to curb the gangs in the city but each time they create a void it's filled in again either by an existing gang or a new one. For that reason in order to balance the power the police just keep the people safe until they can find a way to end all the gangs once and for all.

Gulf Bay City Districts:

The Beaches: The West side of the city built along the coast which literal is formed around a large gulf. The Beaches is one of the largest tourist attractions and stretches the entirety of Gulf Bay City, reaching south until it touches the property line between Gulf Bay and Coral Cove counties. The Beaches is also one of the wealthiest parts of Gulf Bay City with numerous high class dining establishments along with unique stores in its down town region.

The Suburbs: The East side of the city reaching back into towards mainland California. The Suburbs is the newer end of the city and is easily described as upper middle class. This area mainly consists of newly built neighborhoods, convenience stores, and some major chain shopping centers and restaurants. There are also parks here as well as a wilderness trail.

The Narrows: The Narrows is the North End of the city. Know for being the low end of Gulf Bay City, the Narrows is filled with industrial plants towards it's out reaches and slums as you go back into the city. As your reach towards Central, the setting of the Narrows moves closer to middle class, but it's obvious these areas are still more run down than the rest of the city.

The Rows: The Rows is the urban South end of the city. Not as new as the Suburbs but not as old as the Narrows. It also shares much of the wealth of the Beaches and is the closest point in Gulf Bay to Coral Cove City. In fact this area often consists of many commuters who travel back and forth between the two cities. The Rows has many more upper class houses, as well as various business and two local colleges. One of which is an Arts and Performing College where as the other is based around the Skilled Trades.

Central City: Central City, or just Central is literally that. The Central area of the city, the heart of life blood of the city. This is where you'll find large shopping centers and the main down town. The courthouse, police headquarters and of course Gulf Bay University and its residences are all located here as well.

Character Development Rules:

Our characters have two requirements.

Requirement 1)
They must be powerless at the start. No showing of anything superhuman, so they cannot be alien or born with powers, as no one else in history have shown to have any superpowers. However, you may call dibs on a power before the game starts, and I'll see to it that that's the power your character gets, that way ,you're free to change your power till the actual plot point begins.

Requirement 1.5) Their powers will develop overtime. Immediately after gaining them, you would hardly pull off amazing feats. You're not gonna go from increasing your track time by a second to outspeeding bullets over night.

Requirement 2)
Your character must be written so that he or she is driven into heroism before the start of the RP. Imagine something akin to Kick-ass. Of course, I'm expecting some originality here, everyone can't be nerds tired of getting bullied, or orphans who watched their parents getting shot.

Requirement 2.25)
No Batmen. The person who makes a character even relatively similiar to Batman. (I.E, trained by Assassin's, rich, Genius) Will get a kick in the crotch.

Requirement 2.5)
Their morale limit is not some 'Hero-Code' But rather their own personal compass. They will be teens, mid - late teens, and I for one cannot imagine there being many Teenagers who are able to commit homicide.

Additional Guidelines:

Correct grammar and semi-High Casual standards applies. Use your common sense for what you will put into sections that can easily go overboard, like Personality, Backstory and appearance. Only because you can write much doesn't mean it has good quality. I've seen regular Casual posts that has had better quality than advanced posts.

As for our human strength, take the realism with a cup of salt. You will not take out 3 gangbangers on your own. But you can still catch them off guard by the sheer bizzareness of your posture. I mean, really, who would expect someone in a costume to stop you from stealing from some random person? And take into account that the thugs aren't all armed to the teeth with guns. We'll most usually find switchblades or pocket knives in terms of weaponry, and we'll also be made to empathize on teamwork. I was planning on making the internet flare up with our costumed heroics. ( For a popular cultural reference, think Kick-Ass)
