She wore a mask everyday. She loved that everyone in class, and even the entire school, envied her. She was a perfect student. She got the top marks in class and did the best in sports. She was friendly and helpful and kind and was always so proper and controlled. Everyone thought she was perfect and wonderful and yet she was fooling them all. Underneath her mask, she was a hardworking, selfish, ugly girl. She was only perfect due to how she was raised. When she did well, her praised ended up fueling her so much so that she threw away herself in order to be the best girl she could. She woke up early every morning to train and study and look her best for school. At home she was a slob, lazy when she could be, and often loud mouthed. No one knew she was really just putting on an act for the sake of being the most sweetest popular girl around.
Until she met someone like her.
He too was perfect, polite, smart, handsome. And yet he was different. He was really perfect. As far as she could tell, he was the real deal while she was now. And soon the new boy was beginning to take her thrown away. He was smart and made things seem effortless. She became obsessed and began to harbor deep hatred for him, as well as envy. Something she'd never admit to. He didn't notice her spite and tried to befriend her but she resisted. Over time she decided she could best get under his skin by playing nice and so when he came over to her house suddenly after after school he saw who she was. The opposite of her image.
He used this against her.
Knowing she was so shallow, he used his leverage to majke her do all of his work. And she was face to face with the truth: he was not perfect. He was using her. She had no choice but to comply but bit by bit she began to see him in his true light. He was haunted by his own need to be the best. Unlike her, his need wasn't out of greed, but out of stress and a need for acceptance. Sure, she loved the love but he needed it. He was adopted by a wealthy family of doctors and the typical hardworking type. He was slowly crumbling and she was in a sense, helping him. He was so afraid that if he didn't live up to expectations, that his adoptive parents would leave him like his real one.
But she wanted out.
He'd never talk.
He let her go and promised to keep her secret safe. Together they decided that slowly they were to be themselves. Soon they would grow close and let each other see bits of the real them. Soon the school would have to see the truth that the Perfect Prince and Princess were only human like everyone else.
