Xen-El was born within the Imperial City Prison in Cyrodiil, he was sent away to live with his godparents, who were Bretons living in Chorrol, so as not to be raised within a dungeon. By the age of five he was extremely interested in tasting edible ingredients that he would find and learned some basic alchemy skills from his godparents, who would travel to Hackdirt to help the locals to rebuild their small settlement that had been destroyed. When he was the age of ten his godfather felt that he should learn to protect him and others from the harshness of the world and taught him how to wield a blade. Xen-El seemed to have a natural talent for swordsmanship and left home to be a traveling sellsword by the age of 16. He mostly traveled between Chorrol and the Imperial City to try and earn coin and experience in the world. One day along the road to Skingrad during a job that he had been contracted to do he met a Dark Elf named, Alvul Ulvani who wanted nothing to do with Xen-El and threatened to turn his bones to ash. When bandits attacked them they were turned to ash by Alvul's intense destruction magics and from that day on Xen-El was forever mesmerized with magic. He had never used magic before though nor did he seem to have any ability for it, no matter how hard he tried he could never do even the simplest of spells. Feeling down with his luck in not being able to cast magic he returned home at the age of nineteen and joined up with the Mage's Guild. Xen-El began to study magic and how to harness its energies for his own, he grew to love trying to unravel the mysteries that Aethereus kept but slowly rose through the ranks due to not having any magical talent whatsoever.
Feeling like he didn't belong Xen-El left the Guild a year later and joined up with the Fighter's Guild next door and was given his first assignment which was a test of skill that sent him to a nearby Ayleid ruin. This was his first time ever exploring a ruin of any kind as he had been taught that they were dangerous even for the most seasoned of adventurers. While traveling to the ruins of Elenglynn between Chorrol and Skingrad, Xen-El encountered necromancers and fought his way through them. Once he entered the ruins he found strange blue glowing stones that hummed and resonated with magicka, the stones interested him greatly making him want to return to the Mage's Guild for their library on the subject, so he filled his pack with all that he had found and quickly finished clearing out the ruins. As he was leaving however he was ambushed by two necromancers that had been hiding and both struck him with lightning spells, but instead of being hurt and turned to ash he felt a great power surge within him, thinking nothing of it he struck down the two confused necromancers and became an honorary member of the fighters guild. Showing what he had found and telling what happened to him to Teekeeus of the Mage's Guild he was told to cast a simple spell on a summoned scamp. Doing what was requested of him he attempted a simple fire spell and accomplished the feat burning the scamp; Xen-El was awestruck and didn't know how such a thing was possible. He was told about special cases where those born under the sign of the Atronach could not regenerate magicka naturally but by absorbing an enemy’s spell they could add it to their reserves. He was also informed of what the glowing blue stones were being told that they were a perfect match for him seeing as by crushing a Welkynd stone between ones hands would completely fill a person with magical energies.
With his passion for magic restored he traveled to Anvil to train under Carahil and learn to become a battle mage when he was at the age of twenty-two. He soon found out that he was actually quite talented in magic use and excelled quickly in conjuration magic with a bound sword spell that he was taught in Chorrol before leaving for Anvil. He began to practice dual wielding his swords, with his one steel long sword given to him by his godfather and his new bound sword that he was now able to conjure. When he got to Skingrad he met the famous alchemist Sinderion who showed him a few tricks on alchemy in exchange for a rare bottle of Tamika wine that he had to pay a great deal of coin to obtain. While stopped in Kvatch he entered himself in the arena and won by the use of his knew found skill of being able to use two blades at once which threw his opponents off balance every time sword would appear in his other hand. After earning a nice sum of gold in Kvatch, Xen-El arrived in Anvil and studied healing magic before being allowed to train as a battle mage. Together with his talent for being able to effectively use a one handed weapon in each hand he was allowed to study under Carahil directly, she taught him about ward spells that acted as a shield against harmful magic and taught him of a mage’s battle tactics, which were completely different from that of a battle mage. She told him that if you know the way the person you are protecting fights then you can effectively work together and build on the other’s strengths while guarding their weaknesses simultaneously.
At the age of twenty four the Oblivion crisis was on everyone’s minds and the Guilds were called to combat the threat of the Daedra, Xen-El was an honorary battle mage as well as member of the Fighters Guild, he was sent on Legion skirmishes as an emissary for both the Mages and Fighters Guilds. Traveling to Kvatch to aid the besieged city he aided the Hero of Kvatch in saving the city from the remaining Daedra after the gate had closed and healed those who were in need of his healing skills. After a few months had passed everything in Cyrodiil had changed what with the death of Martin Septim and defeat of Mehrunes Dagon in the Imperial City. The Champion of Cyrodiil was rumored to become a knight of the nine and disappeared within the strange island that was said to cause madness to all who entered and was never heard from again, some had said that his adoring Wood Elf fan murdered him in his sleep.
After another year had passed Xen-El decided to travel to all the Mages Guilds and earn their recommendations to gain access to the Arcane University where he would be taught to enchant and create his own spells. He spends two years gaining all the necessary recommendations and gains access to the University where he learns how to enchant. Traveling back to Anvil he buys Benirus manor and discovers its dark past from Carahil, but having already known its dark past has begun to experiment outside the guild by using Welkynd Stones and some Sigil Stones that he had accumulated during his travels. He tried to find a way to constantly have magicka and used deals with the Daedric Prince Hermaus Mora to learn of a way to constantly have magicka. When the Daedric Prince delivered by giving him a special ritual that would allow all the magic that he would ever gain in the future to be added to his reserves in the present, which was obtained after he had trapped the souls of every race in Tamriel as well as collecting all of the elven bloodlines blood samples. Once back in Anvil Xen-El attempted to perform the ritual but ended up being raided by the Mages Guild lead by Carahil. A stray spell struck him while in the process of completing the ritual and instead of gaining constant magicka he was thrust into the future from the ritual unable to be completed.
