Well, first, let me put out the most obvious rule of them all: No godmodding, autohitting, automissing etc. . For those few that don’t know what these terms mean:
Godmod(d)ing: Generally speaking, this is controlling other player’s characters without their consent. This includes anything from saying that your attacks hit without giving the other player a chance to defend from saying that the other character follows/looks at you without permission from the other.
Autohitting: In a way, this falls under Godmodding, but I’m detailing it here anyways. In short, this is saying that your attacks hit home and detailing their effect without permission and allowing the other player a chance to defend himself. Needless to say, this is a jerk move, no matter how minor the end effect might be. Repeated infra Note that, as far as I’m considered, this falls under a combat rule: Simply saying that “Bob was very enthusiastic and pulled Alice’s arm to make her follow him” doesn’t count as autohitting in my book. Still, it’s better to discuss these things beforehand.
Automissing: The polar opposite of Autohitting; declaring that your character avoids every single attack aimed at him, even when s/he has no possible way of seeing the attack coming. Blocking a punch is one thing, blocking an onslaught of hits by three different attackers is a no-no.
Powerplaying/Munchkining: Making a character specifically made to be strong in battle rather than gicing him/her an interesting backstory. This is already made harder by me deciding who gets what powers, but still: I don’t want to see any characters that I can see will kill by just looking at their bios.
Metagaming: In RP terms, this is using OOC knowledge IC. In other words, your character somehow knows about something that they have no possible way of knowing about. This is obviously a big no-no, not to mention borderline cheating. Using logic to come to a conclusion doesn't alwas count as this, but if the conclusion is too outlandish then it just might.
Now, with those rules out of the way, let me get on to some of the more game-specific rules. As has been posted in the Interest Check Thread:
1: First and foremost, none of the contestants even know of the existence of this "game". That means
no premade psychos. I want your character to be a human, not a killing machine. If I can tell from your bio/character sheet (which I'll write up when this garners enough interest) that your character is going to kill, then you're doing it wrong.
2: Every player will get a special superpower, which will be given to them by me, the GM. This is the only thing you are allowed to use to kill another person, though you are allowed to be very creative with it. (For example, the character that gets the power to control water could make makeshift shrapnel grenades out of glass bottles by filling them with water and throwing them, then sending the water at the target as soon as the bottle hits the ground.) In a shift from the first version of this RP though, I'm not making up all the powers. That's right, you, the player, gets to suggest some of the powers. It's best to leave them a bit vague though, as overly detailed powers would end up being very limited.
3: Weapons aren't allowed for offense. And by "offense", I mean specifically and connciously using something in an attempt to harm someone else. For example: Carrying a knife around counts as offense, randomly grabbing a knife because you were fighting in a kitchen doesn't, luring someone into a kitchen just so that you can grab a knife does. Furthermore, guns and such are inaccessible, as is everything else that doesn't have an everyday use. This involves things like axes, oversized knifes and other large blades, etc. Breaking this rule (grabbing a weapon) will lead to a warning, persisting (actually using that weapon) will lead to collar detonation.
4: As a corollary to the previous rule, you ARE allowed to use tools to strengthen your own powers or just for their intended purpose. For example, using copper wire to guide your power over electricity, carrying around bottles of water to always have a source of water to move around, etc. Also, another addendum: If your power happens to be 100% non-lethal, you are allowed to use minor weapons like knives and such. Of course, knives are very weak when compared to throwing huge fireballs, so there's at least some balance there, but I don't want to screw people over before they even place their first post. Please ask me whether or not your power applies for this though; most do not.
5: Going too far outside the borders of the city is not allowed during the Game. Attempting to do so will lead to a warning, persisting will lead to collar detonation. There's a small safe zone just outside the borders so that Players don't get their heads blown off by accident, but it's not really large; about fifty metres past the last house.
6: Trying to remove the collar or otherwise tampering with them in any way other than just adjusting their position will lead to them going boom. This is not restricted to tampering with your own collar; trying to remove someone else's collar will cause that one to go off.
7: If after 30 in-universe days (Which I decide the flow of to avoid quantom mechanical anomalies) there's more than one person still alive, everyone goes boom. Note that, as far as the PCs know, this rule only applies to those who haven't killed their target yet. They do not know initially that they'll just get a new target if their original one dies; whether this is by their hand or not doesn't matter.
8: PM me for permission to join. I will pretty much always allow you to join; this is just a safety net to make sure you’ve actually read the rules instead of making a character without knowledge of them.
