The Legend of Creath: Return of the Vordom

Drayhul Alcov: The Phonetic translation for "Winged Fury" in the Ancient Script. They resemble large reptilian four-legged beasts with scales stronger than perfectly-tempered steel. Accordingly, they use wings to travel great distances in a short amount of time. They rain death upon their victims from the air, using their breath for many different things.

In other words, dragons.

Our world lived as a harmony between man and dragon for ages. The dragons respected our species, and we respected them in turn. As we became more civilized, our lands were divided into eight great clans. These clans were divided by the types of dragons that lived in the area: Freas, Waresh, Trastol, Aileith, Ienox, Grolton, Daerta, and Lireh. The clans governed themselves, trusting each other to keep themselves in line. Peace assumed its place on the land.

As time wore on, the relationship between us and dragons became closer and closer. Eventually, a phenomenon was found. Some of us were able to speak to the dragons, and the Ancient Script called them Drayhul Vishta, which translated to “Dragon Whisperers.” The ones who were blessed with this ability were able to actually speak with the dragons, but not through the tongue—through the mind. They would form deep bonds with dragons, bonds that were as strong as stone. Instead of treating the dragons with a translucent formality, these men and women acted as brothers or sisters to the dragons. This brought us even closer to the noble race.

After a peace that seemed almost infinite, a violent earthquake shook the land, causing a massive crater that was bordered by steep mountains to expand from the center. The crater had an eerie red glow to it, and plumes of smoke constantly plagued the air above it. A new species of dragon spawned from this crater, and with these new dragons came demons to ride with them.

This new clan, which was called Vordom, waged war upon the other clans. Unfortunately, Vordom had greater power than all of the other clans combined. None of us could withstand their incredible numbers or superior dragons, and all hope was lost.

That is, until Creath, the Great One and his dragon, Kylah, the Magnificent fought back. We had never seen a bond so strong between the two of them! They were inseparable, and all of us knew that their minds were constantly exchanging words. When they fought, it was as if their movements were perfectly synchronized to fit each other. No words could ever describe how close their relationship was, but it inspired hope into us that we could see a day where the world is filled with dragons and men like them.

The two of them led the battle, and we finally drove the Vordom back into their lands. As we were pushing them back into their accursed lands, however, Creath fell to the ground with a sword through his chest. Kylah appeared at his side almost instantaneously, and as he died, she felt her heart die with him. As he let out his last breath, Kylah let out a mournful cry that caused all to fall to the ground in pain. Then, in an unbearable rage, she flew into the air, releasing a beam of golden light upon the ground. She flew all around the crater of Vordom, tracing the border with this beam of light. Suddenly, a massive infinite golden wall of light was created from the border. When it was finished, she spoke to all of us through her mind.

“You shall fight no longer. The Vordom are now imprisoned, and no one may enter their territory. Now, live in peace, so that you may not be forced to endure what I did.”

With that, Kylah let out another mournful cry and flew towards the setting sun. No one saw her after that.

Years passed, and Vordom still remained untouched by any of us foreigners. The demons and dragons that were bound within shrieked and pounded upon the massive walls of golden light that were around the crater but to no avail.

The clans, however, grew restless with each other. There was an uneasy tension in the air, and all of the clans were pushing their boundaries. Finally, we broke out into warfare again, but this time, it was with ourselves. Due to backstabbing and deception, the clans constantly changed sides. No one knew who to trust anymore. The Drayhul Vishta were growing fewer and fewer, and many of the ones who were left were joining the conflict.

The result was this: Waresh, Trastol, and Aileith became the major military clans. Freas and Lireh were minor military clans, but they still had an influence. Grolton and Ienox, meanwhile, were forced to submit to the other nations’ wills and demands. Daerta, however, has remained entirely independent from those affairs, defending themselves from any attackers.

The barrier between Vordom and the world has been falling as the Golden Wall has started to fade. However, the clans have been too busy with their petty battles to notice the imminent invasion of the Vordom. The Drayhul Vishta have to bring peace to the clans, unite them against this great evil. Otherwise, the world will bow down to the will of the Vordom.

Dragon Types
----------------

Freas: Means "Fire." This type of dragon has a very powerful breath of fire, and it is usually a shade of red. It can pass through fire without being hurt at all, and it can fly in lava with some burns. It is a moderate size.

Waresh: Means "Water." This type of dragon breathes a pillar of high-pressure water, and it is usually a shade of blue. It can easily transition from swimming to flying, and it is the second biggest kind of dragon.

Trastol: Means "Earth." This type of dragon is much bigger than the other kinds of dragons, and it has some control over the element of earth. It is usually a shade of brown or green.

Aileith: Means "Air." This type of dragon is very agile, but also very powerful with the wind. It can breathe great blasts of wind and cause massive gusts from its wings. It is usually white or silver.

Ienox: Means "Ice." This type of dragon freezes its victims with its breath, and it is usually a shade of blue that is different from the Waresh dragons. It is also a moderate size, and it can withstand extremely cold temperatures.

Grolton: Means "Nature." This type of dragon has healing abilities for itself and others, and it can use plants or other forms of vegetation to assist it. It is usually a shade of green, and it is one of the smaller types of dragons.

Daerta: Means "Dark." This type of dragon is nearly invisible at night, and it is also the fastest type of dragon. It can also fire short bursts of concentrated fire that cause a small explosion rather than an even stream of its breath. They are midnight black, and they are a moderate size.

Lireh: Means "Light." This type of dragon can fire concentrated beams of light from its jaws, and it is golden. It is one of the bigger dragons, and it can temporarily blind its enemies using its scales.

Bio: Thomas was raised with his father and his sister outside of any clans. When he was 16, his family was attacked. Thomas grabbed his sister, who was 12 at the time, and ran, following his fathers orders. Thomas and his sister traveled to the Aileith clan where they hoped they could live. They were accepted into the Aileith clan. When Thomas was 18, he found Abi. She was a small, black egg. Thomas picked her up and raised her, forming a strong bond. Maybe one of the strongest of all Human-Dragon bonds. Abi is a different dragon. Unlike any other Dragon, she looks like a Vordom Dragon even though she isn't. Her egg was in the Daerta clan before being ditched in the mountains. She refuses to say why. Thomas lives in the Aileith clan now. His sister, another clan in which he doesn't know.
