    Used books

Do any of you like buying them? All the books that we have have pretty much been bought used/at a discount (even Mike's Three Kingdoms books that I got him, even if one of them was still in shrink wrap, it was advertised as used and in "Like New" condition). Do ya'll buy your books used, or must they be new?

I like the smell of books, so either way is fine with me.

I'm lazy and poor and hate spending money, so i usually DL them anyways. :x

Easier to put it all in a device than carry around a book.

Most of the books I own were previously owned. I've got nothing against buying used books, so long as they're not in shitty condition. I do prefer new ones, but used is fine too.

I collect a lot of old books (like 100+ years old), so I suppose those count as being used. XD

For more recent books, though, I frequently buy them used. (I'll usually get them through ebay.) Sometimes I'll buy them as digital versions for my Nook, if they're going to be lighter reads. (It saves on clutter -- I really only buy hardcopies of books that I really love now, just to save space.)

I mostly buy new, but now that I can easily ride my bike down to a used bookstore, I may buy more from there.

I have a Graphics Shop now. Graphics Shops are cool.
I run a roleplaying site too!

I have to buy them new or else the book feels entirely different and I won't enjoy it.

As long as there's no writing and highlighting in them (I'm even okay with a few dogeared pages) I'll buy them used to save on money. As Kyuki pointed out, some books I have to buy new because they're new releases.

My old book collection is a whole different story and I have no excuse for spending more money on a moldy old first edition than purchasing a mint 23rd printing other than the fact that I'm an addict and I love owning things that make me sneeze.
