If I have to say anything about looking around this place from the lookaround is I feel overwhelmed and that's to say something since I wandered Gaiaonline through it's size and... issues for half of a decade. Call me a glutton for punishment, I suppose. Anyway, I've been looking for a new community that I can repair this gaping writers chasm that I haven't been able to remedy for about a year now. I got recommended here when an old favorite message board died out so here I come to this place. I feel like a fish out of water, but that's probably due to me not wandering internet forums out of curiosity for three years now.
That said, I'm a little bit of a pretentious snob but not to the extent where I'm not labeled as "doesn't play well with others" and like much of the population (I assume) I'm an amateur writer looking to carve out something inbetween other general hobbies which for me are media-related for the most part; ranging from anime, novels in general, video games, cinema, music (which I've spent the most time sans writing on), and television. So a typical adult who experience the 1990s and 2000s in full.
So, yeah, I don't know where else to go from there or here and I've convinced myself I'm just dreadful at "Introduce Yourself" threads. So... hello?

To that end, I always recommend new people, whether new to RP or just new to here, check out the guide here, it fills you in on how things are done around these parts. Thank you everyone. At that point, I have looked at the guide already but I imagine it's pretty much standard protocol to drop it to those who don't seek out rules and guidelines to a forum. Though, even with knowing how things work around here, I can't help but still be overwhelmed and find myself unsure of a lot. From what I've read I'd qualify as "high casual" or "low advanced". The interest threads are so much more than what I'm used to as the board I was from had dwindling activity before it died quietly in itself.
It'll take a bit, but I think I'll be comfortable here real quickly.

It is pretty standard to drop that in everyone's lap, it can save a lot of hassle. It is good to hear you'd already read it. As far as level, Advanced isn't really all that difficult here. The site standards are: Advanced Roleplay - Elevated standards. Advanced RP focuses on longer posts that include character development and elaborate plot development. Minimum 2-3 paragraphs per post. You'll find longer for certain but if you can do that, you can be in advanced.

Yeah, I've been reading some advanced level roleplays and it seems like something I'd have to work for, but is attainable, and I prefer to work for my fun as odd as that may seem to some. So it's likely I'll end up posting in casual to get a feel for all of it and move on to advanced occasionally when I feel like I can write large-sized posts with depth. I haven't actively written on the forum in some time so I suppose you could say I'm out of practice, haha. Again, thanks for the welcome and the notice.

I love both casual and advanced and some of the causal RP's I have been in could have been in advanced. Just go where the fun is.
Fair enough, on that point before I dwaddle off: I didn't notice any guidelines to reaffirming interest in older threads and reviving them by posting, on some forums it's a no-no and on others it's okay if you add to discussion value and spark re-interest.

well if it is a dead RP then best let it lie. You could always PM the GM to ask about it. Because this place is so busy there is almost always new RP happening so we tend to let the dead lie.
The only reason I asked is I seemed to post interest in one RP that hadn't seen an OOC or IC post in about a month and a half and I'm not sure if that was a misstep or not.
