Theme: Time

Explained: A story that involves time or time travel.

Components:

• The main character finds someone/something from his/her past.
• The story involves time manipulation (pausing, reversing, etc).
• The story involves a historical figure.
• The story involves an individual knowing the future.
• The story involves time travel gone wrong.

Rules of the Month For Casual:

• Components: 1 Required.
• Text Formatting: Allowed
• Word Minimum: 500 (Zero if Poem)
• Word Maximum: 1,500
• Grammar: Decent
• No Submissions Past: April 5th, 2013, 11:59 PM, PST
• The PM Title Must Be: WOTM #24 Entry: Casual
• In The PM: Your entry, a yes/no on receiving comments and a list of chosen components.
• PM Entries To: WOTM
• No Resubmits Allowed.
• No Mention Of Comments Assumes You Want Comments.

• Components: 2 Required.
• Text Formatting: Allowed
• Word Minimum: 1,000 (100 if Poem)
• Word Maximum: 3,500
• Grammar: Nearly Perfect
• No Submissions Past: April 5th, 2013, 11:59 PM PST
• The PM Title Must Be: WOTM #24 Entry: Advanced
• In The PM: Your entry, a yes/no on receiving comments and a list of chosen components.
• PM Entries To: WOTM
• No Resubmits Allowed.
• No Mention Of Comments Assumes You Want Comments.

I want to write for the Advanced bracket but I don't think I can bend the components enough to employ 2. For component #2, does time manipulation have to be a supernatural/science fiction sort of thing or can reminiscing or pausing briefly in a moment cut it? I would assume so but I'd like the official word before I decide on my topic.

I suppose narrative time manipulation would count, not just a character actually doing stuff to time, since the component basically just says "use time manipulation." Basically, so long as you could make a decent case for it fitting the components (such as I did with the first sentence), we're fine with it. We're pretty flexible about it, no worries.

Just make sure to quote a historical figure in the text, and you'll have component 3 along. *chuckles*

I've got a question though. Would finding something from an ancestor's life in the ancestor's time period count as finding something from the character's past?

You guys should really consider asking the specific questions through PM to one of the Contest Managers. When you ask those kind of questions in the thread, and then there's a story involving it, it takes away the anonymity.
