Lost Voice
Bone's Short story and fail writing corner.
Yeah, So I've been writing for a year now. I suck. So yeah give me feedback and stuff. Do note that these are pretty rough with pretty much no proof reading really so yeah.
Falling
The meadow sprawled across the known horizon as a young man sat staring at the many stars in the night sky. His hay colored hair blowing in the wind was the grass around him echoed the sound waves of the earth. Sadly unheard by most was that earth night melody that played for the young man, weaving in and out of him just as it did the grass. Closing his eyes he no longer sat in the meadow alone, but with images of people he had always known.
There where a group of lights but he knew what they were. Spirits of the past he had severed long ago. They called out to him and covered their help, but the young man refused for only he could hear this melody, and only he could save it. But the spirits of the past are fickle things, they offer help at first but they turn against you in the end. Tormenting was the plan for them tonight, but the young man didn't play that type of game. He opened his eyes again seeing the dancing colors of the cosmos that where now even brighter then the stars. The silent melody only he could hear gained tempo as he felt something next to him.
He stared at a spirit from a time long ago, she wasn't like the others. No hands of help, just eyes of pity bore into him and his soul. She didn't say a word, just took his hand in hers. She kisses his cheek, and whispered goodbye but for him his soul had stopped. The young man didn't know that when you stop moving from within, things stop moving around you. The melody was lost in the night, and only his tears hitting the ground could be heard. Time had stopped and he could only feel his pain. Trying to stand the ground held him, like a void he could not escape.
Betrayed by the meadow the grass had gone away, now was nothing and that nothing would never let him go. He tried to fight the meadow, but how does one fight something that isn't? He fell, into a void that no melody he knew could reach. He could never tell how long he spent falling, for there was nothing to compare it with. One day tho, it stopped. He had hit a solid ground in the void.
Did it matter? He couldn't take to the sky, no wings could be grown for him to find his way back to the start. That's when she appeared, a light that shone through the void and his sadness. The beauty of the light repaired his soul. The melody had started again, so distant the sound but it had finally started again. It was different this time, he could tell the song meant something more. He felt that it was no longer a song that only he could hear, but the light could also listen.
He chases the dancing light as she made her way through the void. He didn't know where she was taking him but he wouldn't stop following the light which had brought him back from being alone. She finally appeared before a door, gold and wood that stood alone in nothing. The light turned back and told the young man to take her hand. She stretched out fingers pure and pale towards him. He remembered the spirits of his past, but he knew that she would be different, for she shared the melody with him.
He grabbed her hand and stepped by her side. He could feel the melody stronger then ever coming from the other side of the door. He took the handle and swung it open. Light poured over him and the person holding his hand. They both took steps forward into a new meadow, not of night but of day. Filled with the melody and filling their hearts. They danced an eternity away.
Forever Knights
The crimson sunset faded through the window as I watched the last setting of Sol I'll ever see. My body ached from the abuse of training I did at the base just a few hours ago. My palms where clammy, guess even I get scared when you know your about to kill of your body. Yawning I moved away from the window and looking about the dusty wooden house. All the furniture was covered in plastic and the electricity was out so the house was pretty dim, with only the faint flicker of light through the shaded windows. Guess it's time, tomorrow this world would be gone even if I didn't take the pill or not. See Humanity had lived up it's time on Earth. Earth was dying, no... it was dead. Tomorrow was the last day, and mankind had seen it coming for a long time now. So they created a pill, they found a world we could live in. But it required people to kill the body they had, the pill would then place our "spirit" in a type of program. Then it would generate us a new body on a world that people only heard rumors about.
I smiled at the thought of it, a world where humans where no longer human. A new life, a new body, a new clock on how long you lived. From the rumors that world was filled with magic, things we couldn't believe or understand with science. It was like a world from Lord of the Rings, but it was real. They've been sending people in Waves for over 100 years now. I was part of the final wave due to me being a military cadet. But when the world was only a few hundred thousand people you really didn't feel anything about being one of the last thousand.
I stretched and let out a yawn as the last bit of light came through the window. Lighting a candle that was siting on a dusty piano I walked into the bathroom. I put down the candle on the sink and look into the cracked mirror for what I assume will be the last time. Dry skin, shitty low cut red hair, black sores like everyone else now a days. My one good bright blue eye was turning grey, and before I turned 32 would probable be filled in white and I'd be completely blind. Guess I should be thankful I lived this long in the first place, most people eat the dirt before 30 nowadays. I played with the pill in my pocket... what if they lied? The thought of dying scared me, but I was doomed with less the a day, and at least this way I might have a chance.
Without any more thought I shoved the crystal like pill down my throat. At first nothing happened but then I felt a blast of energy hit my head and it was nothing but darkness. It felt like hours, but then a sudden rush and the darkness was pulled away as quick as it came. The light hit my eyes like a ton of bricks as I tried to shade my eyes on reflex... yet my hand didn't do anything. Looking straight through my hand, made of pure energy a short girl with pink hair and glass silver eyes stood in front of me. She wore pink and white striped suit and had her pink hair in twin tails as she looked at me with those dead silver eyes.
Looking around all I could see was white, this place seemed to be a cube of light. Suddenly a song started playing
"In a far away land~
A princess sits, will you lend a hand~
She sits next to an empty throne~
Oh Knight Forever, are you the one?
Poor Knight Forever, Immortal and alone~
She awaits, she paves a road~
Only the King of Knights will be welcome as a god in the heavenly home~"
The song was sang beautifully by a women with such a pure voice. Maybe I should ask the girl?
"Who sang that... it was amazing."
The girl smiled at me.
"Well silly the princess of course, who else?"
I wonder if energy can make a look of stupidity because I'm pretty sure I pulled it off right then
"Oh..."
Still smiling the girl seemed unfazed by my lackluster reply.
"Well Major" She smiled even brighter, which I honestly thought was impossible.
"Welcome to the Nexus. It's the portal between Earth and Xix!"
Fade
Darkness, It was the only thing I knew. I don't know how It came to be, or why... it just is. I sat in the darkness, for how long? I don't know really, I sat as I am right now. I would say the darkness was lonely, but I was never alone. Something was always there, right next to me... waiting. I don't know what this thing is, or why it is here with me, but it speaks and I know that one day it will eat me. I remember, well... I remember a time when I was in the darkness. I had always known that something was in there, always watching. Always waiting for me to finally sleep. I could hear it move... but on this day it spoke.
I felt something draw next to my face, I felt something cold and wet run along my cheek towards my ear. I heard it whisper. I still don't know if it uses a voice or it was in my head, but it sounded like death itself.
Scream it whispered.
I screamed, yes... I screamed for such a long time, that my throat went raw, I still screamed in the darkness until blood trickled down my throat. I screamed til I had no voice left, and only soundless air would come out. The thing in the darkness was happy about that, and it always makes sure I know it is there.
At times, it would run it's claw down my body, it would breath down my back, it would torment me. Always it whispered, never loud.
You are mine, You are me, and I am you. Embrace and close your mind.
I would shake, it wasn't cold... or was it? I don't know, but I sat curled up and shook. Was it true, was that thing me? I don't know, but if it was.... what do I look and sound like? Why am I in this darkness? Why do I exist.
In one point in time, I started digging at the ceiling, it angered the thing in the darkness. It would beat me, but never break me. I don't understand why, but it always made sure I had the choice to give myself up to it. I would cry, as I bled on the ground. Then the next day I'd dig again, get beaten again, bleed again. After awhile, my fingers where filed down to the bones. It hurt every time I started to shove them in the dirt, but I didn't care.
I looked up at the ceiling, a ray of light in a pin hole was there. Could someone finally save me? Is somewhere there? Or am I alone with this thing. I stood up and made my way towards the whole. The thing in the darkness shrieked.
You fool, you'll end up killing us both.
I didn't care anymore, I reached up towards the hole, and stuck my finger into it. Then my hand, then my arm. It hurt so bad, I was crying, it burned but it also felt like it was cleansing me. The thing grabbed me, tried to rip me away from the hole but my hand could feel the air. Sound escaped my lips
"Please" I could barely hear my own voice.
"Please, Someone save me!" I shouted with all my might.
Tears rolled down my face as the thing shrieked and tried pulling me away. I was shacking, my hand felt like it was being burnt away, but then something happened. Something grabbed my hand.
I'm being pulled from the monster, the dirt ceiling was collapsing around me. My eyes where blinded by light so bright it seared my face, I closed them and opened again and there was a woman with wings holding my hand. Pure white wings sprawled in the air behind her. Her hair was golden and tumbled down her face. Her face was sharp and kind, she smiled at me with not only her mouth, but her bright green eyes. There was something else in those eyes tho, I could see it... it was pity. I looked at my hand she had grabbed, it was burnt black and turning into dust.
I looked back up into her smiling face, tears welling in my eyes and running out of hers. A smile spread across my face as I lipped Thank you.
"I'm free." I whispered as my body turned into smoldering dust, and faded away.
Baby Blue
This is a tale, a tale of growth, a tale of gods and courage, of pain. In the beginning there was god Obserus, he was nothing and everything. All was him yet all was empty and for billions of years it continued as such. Obserus in his loneliness and boredom created a new god to fill his void. The god he created was named Sol, and with a big bang threw parts of herself in the void that was Obserus. Obserus soon fell in love with Sol, seeking more of her he started expanding himself on the edge of reality, but as he expanded Sol's parts drifted further away from each other. Saddened by this she started merging pieces of her matter into twins that spun around each other. Obserus grew mad in envy of this, he gave each part of Sol age.
Sol would die and be reborn, a repeating process of pain and a brutal explosion of death. Yet, with age Sol came to find mortality a blessing. She fell in love with Obserus all over again, each time creating a child. That child was named Gaea. Gaea Loved her mother, so she circled around the most powerful part of Sol. Yet as time went on and on, more children came into being, making Gaea jealous. Gaea was no longer the biggest or the closest child to their mother, so she besought Sol for something unique. Sol gave Gaea a gift for being the first child, she gave her the gift of life. Gaea created the god of nature Elren. Elren was the most beautiful of all creations. He created color, giving it to all. Sol loved her grandson for giving her parts color, yet she became angry with how Gaea had been transformed into forests and plains of life she could never have.
In Sol's anger she shined her light down in rays on Gaea burning her surface into sand and glass. Sol's other children launched parts of themselves at Gaea putting craters into her. Gaea in her anguish created another god, a weak god named Blue after her favorite color. Blue grew and grew, he turned into a blanket that surrounded his mother. Her heart at her core kept him strong, he burned up the parts the other children threw, and decreased Sol's rays from being too harmful. Elren however was almost dead, and his mother was scarred so badly that he began to weep for his brother and mother. Blue created something new with his sadness, a liquid he named tears. His tears ran down onto Gaea and Elren, His brother grew stronger, and thicker. His mothers scars where filled with his tears until they pooled. Gaea was so happy that she gave gifts to her sons, She gave Elren Animals. They inhabited his trees and followed his will of law. For Blue she gave him Humans. Created from her surface, and given life from his tears. She gave them souls and a heart. So that when there time came, they could join Blue in the sky.
Blue loved Humans, yet he could see there flaws, for they too had the same problem as the gods. They in basic nature where good and kind, yet tempted with emotions that he could never feel such as anger and envy. He was sad by this so he gave them age. Hoping that they would mature and at some point in their lives would reach understanding enough to join him. Humans began to hunt the animals of Elren and Elren retaliated by using nature against them. Blue knew that this was right yet he was pained it had come to this, so he shed tears for the humans. The humans used these tears and created farms. They prayed to Elren to give some animals, and in return they would take care of some too. Elren was reluctant at first, but he wished for his animals to know something besides the cool truth of his nature. So humans lived on Gaea in peace, under the watchful eyes of the gods. While Blue hovered over them, always waiting for their return home.
Falling Moon
Falling... I could feel the darkness creeping into my body. My soul screaming to let go of this realm, yet... It wasn't time. My body hit the ground with a thud, the beam sword falling out of my hand. Raising my hand to my visor it was covered in blood. Tears welled in my eyes. I stared out over the surface of the moon, the amount of bodies and debris was insurmountable. I could still hear the ships blasting away over the surface of the earth. The shields crackling under the pressure of the blasts, explosions that turned into screams as the energy projectiles ripped through the hulls of ships.
Ten minutes was all I asked of this body, Ten minutes so I could see the earth one last time. God it hurt so much, my heart was so heavy and the cold, the coldness of my body was so extreme. I felt a something grip my right hand. I turned my head with all the effort I could muster hoping to see my slayer. Yet, it was only my best friend. I had hoped that he had made it through the battle... Yet, here he was on the ground with me. His white armor stained with blood both red and green. A spear in his chest was the only thing keeping his lungs from filling up with blood. I couldn't see his face through his visor but I could tell his smile was there. The smile I've seen for 20 years, the smile almost gone. His hand grew limp on top of mine, and I couldn't help but cry silently while the shadow of the earth was creeping across the surface. Before the darkness took away my memories I had to remember them. I remember my friends face, sheepish with brown hair on the plains of north america. Him and his sister, the one I love. Kids so innocent in times of peace. On the brown plateaus of the plains looking up at the sun. Then one day it ended, that childhood and that peace was gone.
Our freedom and everything we had was taken when they arrived. So vast where the alien ships that it blocked out the sun. Their blue-ish complexion and scaly bodies came down from those ships. Human kind fought for years against them, years hoping for our colonies to still be alive, hoping that they would bring back our freedom... hoping just because hope was the last thing we had left. I grew up fast, a kid with a sword and a gun killing living things with families and personalities before I even knew how to drive a car. I learned how to fly fighters and how to fix in engine, yet I couldn't even farm land.
I remember her golden hair with the red like tint, I remember the dimples of her face and the amazing white smile she could still bring even when we where covered in dirt from running away. I remember it all and it makes the cold hurt just a little more. 20 years is so little I would like to think, but it's all I have and the longest I will ever get. I remember the day the colony ships had reached earth. Being able to take back the blockade.I remember loading in on ships chasing our fleeing aggressors through space to find their home world. I remember all the faces that have died next to me, and all the reptilian eyes looking into mine at their moments of death. I wish I could forget them, or of how we destroyed their planet when we found it. Billions of them dead in a second. We cheered then, we cheered for the death and destruction of a people. They didn't cheer in death however, that race still could kick even in death. Warping ships behind us with a dark matter bomb they had speed towards earth. Hoping to do the same as we had done to them.
All for our freedom right, all... all we both have lost for something so fleeting. I couldn't move anymore, I knew I had only a few moments left while the earth was only a couple away from few. One last time, I needed to see what I had fought for, why I lost my friend and why I'll never see her again. One last time I want to see what was worth so much. I could imagine the warmth from her skin, I wish I could feel it one more time.
I heard an explosion when a shock-wave blasted through the air, it almost seemed to shake the whole moon. The suns light went black and returned. Fear gripped my heart as I could only assume that it had hit earth, that they had still won in the end. A shape started blocking off the sun, My eyes needed to adjust to see in the bleak light. Was it a ship? No... It was earth, I could see the debris of the enemy ships breaking apart in the gravity pull. The red, orange, and yellow was profoundly majestic. A gurgled laugh tried to escape my lips, the pain shook my body, but I didn't care. With red teeth I smiled the first time since I was 8 on the day they arrived. She's safe, she has the freedom that we all worked for. Only she can keep it, and my future son will need to hold it firm.
My body began to relax. I won't be able to see my sons face, but when he's born he won't need to see death all the time. He won't need to kill.. He won't need his father, the killer, the fighter, the protector... just the freedom. Closing my eyes, I let the darkness in. The pain went away, I couldn't feel anymore. Yet the darkness didn't stop there. It started eating away my memories, I saw them all vanishing, yet I couldn't feel sad. My understanding was next, and finally my last thought was of nothing but darkness.
