(IC) Two Worlds, One War

Mariya ran over the roofs of the under world, she was dressed to hunt. Today she was scheduled to be on the hunting party, so she decided to take advantage of that. Her first assignment, find the spy. She had tracked them down to a isolated location. And with her on their trail, she was sure they wouldn't get away. Scowling she jumped roof to roof, her hands on the but of the swords attached to her back. Her pale white eyes scanned the area around her as she neared the area. Putting her hands on the side of the roof, she took a acrobatic leap from the roof, bending her knees as she landed. Staying in the shadows Mariya made her way to the door, kicking it in her daggers slid into her hands like they normally do, a perfect fit. Being a skinny girl, allowed her to do a lot of things. Like being able to move as nimbly as she was now. Slipping through the door, she made her way down the hallway. Mariya smiled as she came near where they were hiding out. She wasn't being paid to take anyone alive, though she knew she would get paid double if she brought the ring leader in just harmed. Kicking in the door, her grin grew wider as she rushed the room.

~Back at the headquarters~

Mariya sat at a table in the corner by herself, holding up a piece of paper that she was reading through. It was a detailed mission, one that would lead her to go to the upper world to check things out. She could pick a team, or go alone. Mariya had absolutely no idea what to do. She was used to working alone, but maybe a team was good? She could blend in with them in the upper world, learn some new things, after all she has never been up there before. Crossing her legs, still in her huntress uniform, she went through the paperwork. Either way she would have to find some way of finding things out about the upper world. If she was going to have to go up there and act like one of them at least.

Delit was grinning ear to ear as she dragged her prey down the streets of the underworld. Her mission had been beyond easy at first look, but her prey, had been somewhat tricky, not that that mattered, she always got her prey. The bugger, the bugger she was currently draggin down the street by the collar of his shirt, had tried to ditch her by running through to different villages, across streams and through forest, but to no avail. He was well built, blonde hair and had a charming smile; he was a deserter. He was a usual deserter too, she had caught him many times. People avoided her as per usual as she walked down the crowded street. No body offered help to the bound and gagged boy, if they did, they would have to answer to her and to the top of the underworld. After dropping off her catch, and officially completing her mission, Delit stood leaning against the wall outside of the Order, at least that's what she refered to it as. The 'Order' is where she gets her missions, where she drops off her prey and so on. As she has no friends, Delit had the rest of the day off to herself. 'This is going to be dreary...' she sighed, and popped a sucker in her mouth, green, her favorite. She stuck her hands in her pockets and watched people come and go.

Haven sighed, back again. He had been dragged back, humiliated, and then furiously lectured by one of the heads of the Underworld. Delit always took delight in taking him back to the Underworld in the most humiliating of ways. One time she even stripped him right down to his underwear, which caused some girls to faint. After walking out of the building from getting yelled at again, Haven sat on the adjacent stairs with his head in his hands and sighed. This was going to be one boring day...

Sighing Mariya stood up, folding the papers and tucking them away as she headed up the stairs to her quarters. Where she quickly changed into her knights outfit, she slide on the heeled brown leather boots and put the papers in the pocket inside her jacket, then ran down the steps hooking her sword to her belt and ran out of the headquarters building. Looking around, she made her way down the steps onto the main street. She had a meeting to attend at the palace, concerning the matters of a kid that seems to keep running away. letting her arms go relaxed as they smoothly tapped the but of her swords she made her way up toward the palace. She looked back and forth, seeing if she was being followed, an old habit of her own thanks to the old days. Walking up to the giant gates, she pulled her sleeve down to show the marks on her arms. The guards opened the gates and she walked in. This would be a rather interesting meeting she presumed. Making her way up the steps to the castle, she walked through the double doors and up another set of stairs, heading down the east wing toward the giant meeting hall. She was rather late, but she couldn't help it. She had a job to do before she could show up to this. Heading up to the door, the guards pushed the double doors open and she walked in. Taking her seat at the rather large round table with a hole in the center. There was well over 30 people here, all having something to do with how the city ran correctly. She of course comes to the meetings on occasion, but rather only when she is called upon. Like today. She was rather perturbed as to how the meeting was going to go, and why this rouge kid had anything to do with her.

Delit sat slouched in a meeting with her arms crossed. They were going to be discussing Haven again. This time she hoped she would at least get a raise in her salary. It took up a lot of valuable time to track him down every some week. And hopefully they would punish him somehow, make him feel important, give him a freaking mission or something, but then again, he would need a babysitter. 'And they'd probably choose me...' she sighed and sat up in her chair. This was important, she couldn't just shirk her responsibilities and look lazy or anything, it's important to look 'professional'...

Haven, out of breath, sat next to Delit. He totally forgot about the meeting, which was very unlike him since it was about him. He had ran to the meeting. The atmosphere in the room was somber and almost immediately his smile faded, today was going to be different. Today, he might actually get in trouble for this...

Mariya had seen the boy come in late, but choose not to show she had seen it at first. After a while of listening to the others talk, she stood up a little furious. Putting her hands on the table and leaning forward she looked around at the 30 odd people that ran their underground city. The only person that "wasn't" here was the princess, the only living heir to the royal family. Sighing she looked down at the papers in front of her. "Silence! Lets be reasonable about our decision." She looked around again, there was 2 kids here that she didn't recognize, but could see they were from the headquarters themselves. Which meant this was about the boy who had come in late. "It says here that the Boy hasn't had any missions, or runs away from post." standing up and crossing her arms. "Well. I've heard what everyone has to say." Now leaving her spot and walking around the table toward the other side. "Why is it that he ran away from post? Why is it that he's so defiant? Obviously the Council yelling at him every time isn't helping. So they sent it up here, to us, the Order." She stopped and looked at an elderly man across the table. "Yes Markus? I there something you want to say?" The elderly man sighed and stood up.

"This child is a harm to everyone! Stealing documents, royal documents, stealing anything of royal value and trying to reveal us. Then running off in the tunnels to the upper world. We can't afford such things to befall upon this world, to the innocent people that live here." Mariya crossed her arms, and started walking again, staying quiet. "If you put it that way...." She stopped for a second, then cocked a smirk before chuckling. "What I have in mind will solve both of out problems." She turned, now back at her spot as she pulled out folded papers from her jacket pocket, and held them up. They were neatly folded and had the royal crest on them. "This is a mission from the Royal family. As you know, since I am a Huntress for the Order, I am part of the Royal Family's council. I meet with the Princess and listen as she hands me a new mission. Ones that are too big for the Hunters of the Headquarters. This mission details out that I should work with a team of my choosing." She looked pointedly at the two kids. "I choose these two over there. As punishment for his crimes, he will go with me and the girl, plus another, up into the upper world deep into the Zone. He will see what it is really like to live in the upper world compared to down here. Along the way he will learn discipline." She looked around the room at the Order. "I will take full responsibility, as the Order's Huntress, into the matters of the boy. The girl is free to choose to come along." After she got done talking, everyone started shouting at once, trying to get their displeasure of the plan in, but Mariya didn't care. She made up her mind, the Order usually lets her do what she wants. Se turned and walked out of the meeting hall, and started to make her way down the hall toward the stairs. She had a lot she had to do.

Delit was amazed, the Huntress, THE Huntress had chosen her to go with her in a mission to the Upper World, a mission given to the Huntress by the Princess. She looked to Haven in amazement. The room erupted in noise as everyone started yelling. Delit stood up and looked at everyone, a good third of the people attending were old, they had never had a mission, they didn't know what faced them if this goes wrong. She looked to Haven who looked back at her. He stood up as well and they went to leave. Before she walked out the doors to the room, Delit turned back to the room and yelled, "Oi! Shut up!" The room went silent, the only sound was the door closing behind her and Haven.

Haven sat in his chair eyes downcast until he heard the one woman's speech. He looked up at her, scrutinizing everything. Finally he could go to the Upper World! Finally he could see! Crimes...he sighed deeply as regret filled his chest, making it tighten. He didn't want to endanger anyone specifically, he only wanted to go back. He heard that he had been brought to the Under World as a baby, but he had no idea who his family was. He thought that if he brought a document or artifact proving the existance of the Under World that they might accept him and love him. He banished those feelings and instead excitement filled its place. He was going on a mission! With Delit. He turned to look at her and found that she was looking at him. He stood up beside her, and together, they walked to the door. She stopped, to let him go through, then she followed after yelling at the geezers.

Mariya stood at the bottom of the steps, talking to a group of guards. She seemed to be in deep conversation with the two, but then started laughing with the others. Looking up she waved the guards off, and crossed her arms turning to the boy and the girl. "You must bet Delit and Haven." She smirked at them. "You must already know who I am. Of course its not hard to guess." Turning to the boy. "I saw you come in late, just letting you know now. If your going to go to the upper world, you must listen to what I have to say, and be on time. If your not I'll have them fetch you and bring you back down here." She turned to Delit. "As for you, your welcome to tag along if you'd like. We leave in the morning." Turning she headed for one of the side doors, before looking back at them. "Meet me at the Headquarters main door I'll take all questions then, be sure to be packed and ready to go. I'll have a friend along with me." Waving her hand over her shoulder she headed through the doors and down the hall to large double doors. She pushed them open and walked in, and up to the curtains that covered the person identity behind. Getting on one knee and bowing her head. "Your majesty......."

Delit and Haven returned to their homes to pack. Delit packed the essentials; water bottle full of water, some flint to start a fire, some non-parishable food tems, and blanket. Haven packed a telescope, a change of clothes, a lighter and a blanket. After eating, they both went to bed. Delit tossed and turned in her bed, she was worried about what might happen on the mission, she knew they might not make it back. The Upper World is filled with dangerous people, and infilitrating that, would be incredibly difficult.

Mariya sighed, leaving out of the room and heading down the hall, heading out one of the servant entrances so she could go out undetected. Looking both ways, she grabbed the black cloak that was hanging by the door, putting it on she snuck out into the night pulling on the hood. She headed down one of the side streets, and down an ally where she stopped at a poorly lit door. As she reached for the door nob, she was wirled around by hand on her shoulder and stared up into the face of someone from that gang she had attacked earlier. Without her other weapons she was useless, until the shot rang out, and the guy dropped cold to the ground. Blinking, she looked up as a guy with a gun slung it on his back and climbed down the fire escape. Smiling at her "Mariya. Its been too long." She smiled back and nodded. "It has." He opened the door, and Mariya followed him in, pulling the hood off. He walked into the tiny space and looked back at her as he place the gun along with all the others. "So what brings you here. You usually don't come to me, unless something major is going on." She took her cloak off and draped it on the couch/bed. "What if this time I only came to have a nice little chat?" She shrugged. "I guess your right. There is something." She sat down on the pull out bed and started pulling off her boots. "There's a mission in the upper world. The princess is sending me on it." He nodded. "This isn't something new yes?" She chuckled "Your right. But this time, its with rookies. One is known for running away. And the other thing is that this kid is originally from the upper world. I need help watching him." He nodded, taking his jacket off and putting it over her cloak. "I'll help, you didn't have to tell me so much. I would have helped either way." She smiled up at him. "Do you mind if I stay the night? I really don't want to go home tonight." He nodded, and crawled onto the pull out bed next to her, facing away from her as she took off her jacket and laid down.


~Morning~

Mariya woke up and sat up. He was already and sitting at his table cleaning a gun for the trip. Next t the door was his small bag, which held everything they would need for the upper world. She grabbed her jacket and put it back on, buckling the belt as she stood up. She went into the a joining room, which was his gun room, but also held all her clothes. She changed into her clothes for the upper world, and walked back out. He was back at the door, ready to go. She walked up to him and smiled, fixing her hair as they walked out the door. She messed around with him, flipping his hood up and what not, as they walked to the Headquarters, where they were to meet the two younger rookies. As they walked, they talked and laughed about old times, and their first mission upstairs. And about other stupid times.

Delit slung a dark brown, deep-hooded cloak around her shoulders, then clipped her bags around her hips and thigh. She sighed and looked around the room. Haven sighed and flung his backpack around his shoulders. At the same time, both of them left their apartments, locking them behind them. Haven was excited, this was his first mission. Delit looked around one last time, she knew they might not make it back. They both walked towards where they were supposed to meet Mariya. Delit sat crouched on the ground with a straight face, while Haven leaned against the wall grinning from ear to ear. 'I wonder how this is all going to end up...' Delit thought to herself.
