Kingdom Hearts: Fractured(A.U. Kingdom Hearts RP IntCheck)[High Casual]
TLDR
Do Not post spoilers for Dream Drop Distance. Haven't played it yet.
This is an alternate universe Kingdom Hearts RP, meaning the events of the games never happened and the worlds will be different. Heartless, Nobodies, separate worlds ETC all work the same just with a blank slate for the story to play out
Shes going to try to use all original worlds for this RP, meaning she'll be making some of the worlds and would like players to do so as well so theres a nice variety.
High Casual, 2-3 paragraphs per post with everyone preferably posting every two days.(Not too strict with this as long as short posts don't happen too often)
Thinking this will be a smaller group of players to make planning together easier and keep things moving relatively smoothly. This wont be first come first serve but based on which characters she likes/feels will work best. Thinking four players at most counting herself.
Premise
Our world has been broken, the peace we knew shattered in an instant. Creatures we had never seen before began making themselves known in the wake of the chaos, things we could have never dreamed of existing, things that everything we knew would say could not possibly exist. Yet we've all seen them, and there is no denying their presence. Some of these strange new existences have even fallen into our ranks, beginning to aid us. The reasons may differ from person to person, but one thing is clear, we are all seeking answers.
Our story will begin on a large space station orbiting a world known as Pinnacle Precinct which is the current home base for an organization called the Horizon Institute for Research of the Heart, several months after the sudden breaking of the heart of the world itself. This organization as should be obvious from its name is formed of a group of researchers studying the nature of the heart and related elements. After the still mysterious event which caused the heart of their home world to be grievously damaged, the Horizon Institute gathered its remaining willing members to begin searching for answers and solutions to the worlds calamity.
Though the groups members have dwindled, over the first few months they had acquired a few invaluable, extraordinary members. Sentient Nobodies, and the Fractured, two beings which seemed to come into existence following the fracturing. These intelligent variations of the spices have begun to prove vital in the groups search for answers.
OOC Stuff
Alright so, this RP formed out of two different ideas, wanting to do a story about nobodies who actually have know way of learning what they are other then just figuring it out, and wanting to do a story involving individuals with broken hearts who somehow managed to live in that state(inspired by Birth by Sleep).
So with this, she wanted to do an RP more about discovery and character interaction then the normal struggle between light and darkness. There will be antagonists, but the main thing she'd be going for is character development. So she'd like players that are comfortable pitching and discussing story ideas of their own and moving the story/scene along with each post. In addition she'd also like players to be open to making worlds themselves since she'd like to do all original worlds. Would give a greater variety then just one person making them, heh. Also looking for dedicated players, would really like this to succeed and certainly cant do it alone, ha.
The nobodies and fractured in the RP will primarily be the ones traveling to worlds to investigate in effort to dig up answers for the Horizon institute but if someone just wants to play a human thats perfectly fine(they'd probably want at least one normal person on the expeditions anyway)
Anyway, putting a little history of the events before the start of the RP down below along with home world information, CS template and her own character. Thinking all the characters should be from the same home world as they should start as acquaintances to skip part of that awkward no one knows anyone part, but if a good idea for a character from another world came up she'd consider it.
One final thing, not use keyblades in the RP at this time, but again if a good case could be made for a character having one she may allow it. Anywho thats enough rambling from her, feel free to post any questions you may have!

Name:Abel
Alias/Title:None
Race:Fractured
Age:19
Appearance:
Weapon Appearance:None Weapon Name:None
Abilities: Being an older Fractured Abel has had some time to learn to control the strange abilities she had gained from her unfortunate state, or rather try to control them. She has gained a small degree of control over the shifting of her unstable form allowing her to do things such as harden her skin or produce tendrils of flesh. In addition to this Abel has shown the ability produce a disruption in things around her, causing things such as sudden changes in air pressure or technology to malfunction. This second ability however is one which still remains entirely beyond her control
Personality:Abel is kind, trusting person with a desire to help others in whatever way she may. However she is also rather timid and lacking in much confidence. As one of the Fractured she constantly questions the solidity of her own existence and the world around her, lacking clarity about just what type of being she has become and feeling she may simply fade away one day.
History: Being one of the Fractured, Abel's memory is twisted and disjointed at best leaving her always unsure if what she does think she remembers is actually true or not. She has memories of the Burghs and the Arbor but they frequently cut in and out in a fashion which makes following them impossible. She was discovered by a researcher by the name of Wies during the Horizon Institute's first research expectation. This is however something she only knows because it was told to her upon gaining lucidity, only having a blurry muddled memory of the days before hand.
Relations:
Abel is most trusting of Researcher Wies who had first discovered her and currently oversees her care.
Name: Pinnacle Precinct
Landscape: Pinnacle Precinct was a bustling futuristic city which uses a variety of technologies to keep it running smoothly. Buildings rose tall into the blue sky, the monolithic structures coated with a special holographic paint composed of liquid gummi compounds which allows video or images to be projected upon the buildings while still providing those within a clear view of the outside. The city as a whole was kept clean by automated machines which were also capable of repairing small damages such as sidewalk cracks.
The city was set up in layers starting below ground and moving upward. The first layer, referred to as the construction block was in fact several layers of its own in which construction and assembly was done, such as the assembly of the airships used as public transit within the city.
The next layer upward was the cities surface layer, referred to as the Arbor. The area is for the most part an area designed for relaxation and recreation. It consisted of things such as parks, pools, artificial lakes, outdoor restaurants/cafes and the like. There were a small amount of highly expensive homes in this area, occupied by the most well off in the city.
Next up was the midlayers, a series of suspended enclosed walkways and platforms at varying heights which connected the large towers of the city called the burgs. The enclosures were a transparent material which provides both safety and visibility. This area was mostly residential with some small businesses and shops intertwined. The suspended platforms often had retractable ceilings to let in fresh air and are furnished with things such as chairs, tables and potted plants as well as images being able to be projected onto the material much like the building sides.
The final set of layers for the city were the top most sections, the research and administration division. This area was reserved for those such as city officials and researchers. Much like the residential layer below this area had a series of inter-connected suspended pathways and platforms which served as areas to travel between or take breaks. The towers at this height mostly held large sections dedicated to research laboratories and offices.
However with the fracturing of the worlds heart the city has suffered significant, even devastating losses. The population plummeted in an instant, many of the towers toppled leaving the areas below littered with flames and rubble. Much of the construction block has been destroyed or abandoned leaving those still living within Pinnacle Precinct with little ability to repair the massive damages.
Denizens: The people of Pinnacle Precinct were a people used to living a fast paced city life. People worked hard and strived for innovation all around and even those with the most seemingly menial jobs had a part to play in keeping the city running smooth. The culture of the world was largely one of science, logic, reason, even what those of other worlds would merely call magic was another science to the people of this world. Because of their desire for advancement the people of Pinnacle Precinct are also a stubbornly determined bunch, even if it would take many years, everything has an answer. You just need to know where to look. When the mysterious circumstances which caused the heart of the very world to break occurred, many of those fortunate enough to live through the calamity endeavored to stay within their home and repair the damage rather than run to other worlds.
Land Marks:
The Construction Block, The Arbor, The Burgs, The Research and Administration Division: See Above
Old Horizon Institution Labs: The former labs of the Horizon Institute for Research of the Heart which had been abandoned following the breaking of the worlds heart. Much of these labs now sit as rubble from the collapse of the towers. Small portions which happened to be within towers that did not fall are still largely in tact but left abandoned all the same.
Horizon Orbital Research Station: A space station constructed of high quality gummi materials originally designed by the Horizon Institution to keep more risky research experiments off the world proper, such as research dedicated to the heartless and ways to purge the darkness from a captive heart. Since the fracturing of the worlds heart the remaining Horizon researchers have relocated to the station to avoid the new found hazards caused by the events while searching for answers. The station is a massive construct with everything needed for extended living on board. It is laid out in sections much like the city itself, with recreation, cafeteria and food storage on the bottom floor, living quarters in the center, and research, the largest portion on top.
The station was nicknamed HOURS by those who had worked there from the abbreviation HORS, and a bit of an inside joke being “You could lose more then a few hours working up at HOURS.” due to the potentially dangerous work of researching the heartless.
HeartKeeper Lydia's Apartment: A home within the outer edges of the Burgs which was lucky enough to be within one of the towers which remain standing. It is a large apartment with a view overlooking the city. Though once neat and finely decorated it has been left in disarray since the fracturing. Furniture lay in pieces, cracks line the walls and floor, and an oppressive silence covers the room. The room has been left barred and locked since the investigation into the location of Executive HeartKeeper Lydia had fallen cold.
Notable Persons:
Executive HeartKeeper Lydia:
A small statured young woman with long brown hair, bright crimson eyes and a pale complexion. Lydia was a responsible, clever and helpful person who held the title of “Executive HeartKeeper”. This title meant that as the person who the duty of watching over the worlds heart had fallen to she would be closely involved with many of the affairs of Pinnacle Precinct. Being the only person who had access to the heart of the world she was of great interest to the Horizon Institution and often worked along side them, but despite numerous requests to allow them to see the worlds heart, she had apparently always declined. Since the fracturing of the worlds heart Lydia has gone missing, presumed to be one of the casualties caused by the catastrophe.
*OOC: Lydia is equivalent to a princess of heart within the canon Kingdom Hearts story, the title Executive HeartKeeper being the title the people of Pinnacle Precinct use to denote this.
Terms/History
Horizon Institute: Post Fracturing Log #001: “Relocation”
A few days after the fracturing and we are already gathering the remaining willing members to transfer all of our research to the HOURS facility. It seems the heartless have found this world an easy target with the heart broken, making it too dangerous for us to stay here. In addition some new creatures have begun appearing, ones we've never seen before. They seem to have some sort of rivalry with the heartless. We will have to investigate them after relocation is complete.
Horizon Institute: Post Fracturing Log #002: “Arrival”
One week later and we've finished relocating to HOURS. The group is smaller then any of us would have expected, we've only got about twenty counting those who were already stationed here. Some of us stayed behind to try and help rebuild some form of settlement or to investigate the strange new creatures. We're keeping regular contact with them.
Horizon Institute: Post Fracturing Log #003: “Expedition and Rebuilding”
The survivors have grouped together and are setting up in the remaining towers. If the people of Pinnacle Precinct are anything its stubborn. They'll manage to hold out even with the heartless and those other monsters running around. A few of us are heading down tomorrow to move towards surveying the epicenter.
Horizon Institute: Post Fracturing Log #004: “Surveying”
We've been here a few days now and have already seen a lot but haven't managed to figure that much out yet. We've managed to capture a few of the strange gray creatures that began appearing after the fracturing, they're just as tricky to keep captive as the heartless, if not more so. We have noticed they seem quite hostile to the heartless but the heartless themselves don't seem to have any interest in them. We're sending the samples back to HOURS for study.
Horizon Institute: Post Fracturing Log #005: “Losses”
We...lost two of the expedition team members today. While traveling to the epicenter we were attacked by heartless. The guards that accompanied us managed to push them back, but they got a hold of one of our researchers before hand. We're all mourning the loss, but the recording may help us learn more about the heartless effect on a heart. We've captured the heartless that appeared from his heart.
The second casualty occurred when arriving at the epicenter of the fracturing. The ground was jagged and seemed to be disintegrating, we could see blue particles floating off into the distance from what we had to assume was the heart of the world. Everyone, even the most strong willed of us professed to feeling a great unease at the sight. The area was very chaotic and unstable, for a moment it seemed the laws of the world changed. In that moment we lost our second member. She was seemingly pulled out into the vast emptiness and fell out of sight. We had no way of helping and were forced to retreat to set up camp a ways away.
Horizon Institute: Post Fracturing Log #006: “Survivor”
We split into teams to survey the area around the epicenter, but have made it a point to not get too close to fracture. We cant afford any more casualties, we're already short staffed as it is. One of our researchers returned to camp with a girl in toe. Apparently she was found aimlessly wandering the area. The girl looked dazed and would hardly respond to others, occasionally muttering incoherently. Some of the group reported feeling uncomfortable around the girl. We've attributed this to fraying nerves and concern for the survivor.
Horizon Institute: Post Fracturing Log #007: “Return, Unknown creature”
We've decided to return to HOURS with our findings and began the trek back to the remains of the city. On our way back we spotted another strange creature, different then the heartless and the gray creatures. It moved on all fours and held a vaguely human shape but appeared heavily distorted. We attempted to avoid it but the girl we had found suddenly began running in its direction. We gave chase but were unable to catch up to her quick enough. As we approached one of our researchers was noted saying. ”It almost... looks like her?” When we caught up the girl was on the ground fighting with the creature, each of them thrashing wildly and screaming. Our guards killed the creature and it faded away into a misty light. The girl returned to her dazed state after-wards and we returned without further incident.
Horizon Institute: Post Fracturing Log #008: “The Nobodies”
We returned to HOURS several days ago and began looking into what we had found immediately. The heartless seemed to have shown little change since the fracturing but we are not without new information. We've determined that the gray creatures that had begun appearing are somehow lacking a heart entirely. We have no idea how these creatures live in such a state but it seems they are drawn to the hearts of others by nature. We believe this explains why they seem to seek out and attack the heartless yet the heartless which are too drawn to hearts do not seem concerned with them. Their behaviors are similar to heartless but they are not identical as they show some semblance of thought in their movements rather than acting on pure instinct. We have taken to calling these creatures which live yet lack a heart Nobodies.
Horizon Institute: Post Fracturing Log #009: “The Fractured, Abel”
We've been watching and examining the girl we found down near the epicenter for several weeks now alongside our other research. If our discoveries on the Nobodies lack of hearts were not shocking enough, it has become apparent that this girls heart has been broken, fractured just like the heart of the world. We have no idea how she has continued to live in such a miserable state but it must be somehow related to the fracturing of the worlds heart. We have begun referring to the girl and others similar to her which we have hypothesized to exist as The Fractured
She has slowly been emerging from her dazed state becoming more coherent as the days go on. This has once again taken all of us by surprise as we could have never expected one with a damaged heart to gain any sort of mental clarity. During one of our examinations the girl began to scream and attempted to flee from those looking her over. In a single moment she seemed to become aware of her surroundings, demanding to know who we were and where she was in her fright. We explained the situation and the girl began to calm, eventually giving us her name, Abel, after some thought.
It should be noted that upon her awakening we believe she had exhibited some strange abilities causing some of the machines in the room with her to break down. There have been several more reports of researchers feeling uncomfortable when she is near, which is now being attributed as others innately sending her fractured heart. Finally though she has gained conscience awareness she still seems highly unstable and will occasionally fall back into her daze.
Horizon Institute: Post Fracturing Log #010: “Nobodies Growth, More Fractured, Moving Forward”
It has been some time since the original expedition. We have lead several more in that time and discovered various anomalous individuals in that time. To begin, one of the Nobodies we had captured during the first expedition had been gradually changing form seeming to gain more intelligence as it did so, its form becoming more and more human with each new stage. Finally it seemed to become a fully formed human, on the outside one could not tell it was not human. However though it had begun to communicate like anyone else it had still lacked a heart and in addition to this displayed little to no emotion in its speech. There is still much we must learn about the nature of the nobodies.
We have encountered more Fractured upon each expedition as well. They are far fewer in number then even the Nobodies which were already appearing in smaller numbers than the heartless. From what we have seen we have begun to theorize that the creature the girl Abel had fought with during the first outing was likely another Fractured as well as the majority of the ones we have found seemed to be such vaguely human looking beings. Though they each seem to display different mannerisms we had brought any would could manage back to HOURS for observation which in turn confirmed our suspicions. They are in fact beings with fractured hearts. As we have observed them we have noticed their forms, much like their behaviors are chaotic and often changing. Perhaps like the girl Abel their minds will eventually return. Many things are still left unanswered, only time will tell...
Heartless are creatures from the realm of darkness born when a persons heart is swallowed by the darkness. They are usually an inky black color with emotionless yellow eyes and deep colors such as purples and reds decorating the bodies of some subspecies. They act on instinct seek hearts and those killed by a heartless become one of the heartless themselves.
Nobodies:
Nobodies are creatures born from the body and soul left behind when a heart is consumed by darkness. They are inherently more powerful then the heartless as only those with a strong will can become a nobody giving them fewer numbers than the heartless. Lesser nobodies seek out the heartless in search for their own heart. Sentient Nobodies keep the memories of their life before losing their heart but lose their emotions. The heartless do not target nobodies unless ordered due to their lack of hearts.
*This information is still unknown within the current world as Nobodies are a very recent occurrence.
Fractured:
The Fractured are beings whos hearts have been broken into pieces by an unknown cause. Lesser Fractured are those with smaller fragments of the original heart forming them, making them resemble the original person but appearing highly distorted. For example, a lesser fractured may have similar hair and face to the original but with clawed arms and legs and spines upon its back, or they may lack eyes, the mouth replaced with a large maw of bladed teeth and arms replaced with twisted wings. A Fractured's form becomes less twisted the larger portion of the heart they have and those which achieve sentience may be able to control the distortion of their unstable bodies.
Due to their damaged hearts the Fractured, regardless of how complete their piece of the heart may be, are highly unstable in both body and mind. Any power they have would become quite volatile when used and their personality may be subject drastic changes in very short times. The Fractured suffer from broken and distorted memory, each individual formed from the pieces of the heart holding a different piece of the whole memory. Finally, if a Fractured sustains serious injury they risk more fragments of their heart splitting off, and as their hearts are damaged and thus weaker they could be more easily lost to the darkness.
*Much of this information is still unknown
Horizon Institute for Research of the Heart:
A once large research institution within Pinnacle Precinct dedicated to studying the nature of the heart and related things. Until recently much of the groups research has been on the heartless but with the fracturing of the heart and the resulting rise of the Nobodies and Fractured the group has been forced to take on ever more work with decreased numbers
Alrighty, CS can be posted here or PMd if you'd rather do that for whatever reason and she'll look them over. If theres any questions feel free to ask cuz shes not always great at describing stuff
Probably gonna wait two or three days to check out what kind of characters get posted, so no need for anyone to rush.
It mentions weapons would be on the futuristic side, would that include a Nobody's naturally, elemental-ish weapon they seem to posses? Or will the nobodies in this game not have that ability?
Well the connection between a nobodies element and its weapon is kinda loose even in the main series, usually just a color referencing it. Only one that really looks like the element to her is vexen's shield.
So the nobodies could probably have a futuristic looking weapon easily, just like, if it has fire for its ability it might have reds and oranges as colors of the weapon. But at the same time a nobody could end up with a less futuristic looking weapon considering their weapons seem to more represent something about themselves.
Well, I'm interested (mainly because I have almost no RPs going on right now). Is knowledge of the KH-verse necessary for this RP? Or would it simply 'help'? I have some basic understanding of Nobodies and alternate universes, but no idea on what the Fractured are...

Well it would be preferable to have knowledge on how the universe works but if you've got a knowledge of the basic stuff(heartless, significance of the heart in the universe, nobodies, the different worlds etc) you might be able to manage fine, and the Kingdom Hearts wiki has details on all that kind of stuff. Fractured are something she made up for the RP and don't really exist in canon.
Ah, I was wondering why 'kingdom hearts fractured' didn't have any hits on Google...XD
Do the Fractured have to experience some previous loss before becoming Fractured (such as getting dumped or losing their job), or can it just happen out of the blue to anyone, regardless of emotional status? And how powerful should characters be in the beginning? Or is that dependant on how long they've been a Fractured?
