Fallout: End Game [RP Idea]
Hey, guys. So, in the few weeks or so that I've been here, I've started a couple of roleplays. There was my Walking Dead roleplay, which I, shamefully, kinda dropped out of without warning. You know how it is; life got in the way, and I didn't have time to run that and my Elder Scrolls roleplay, which is still going strong. I also have my own original fantasy roleplay that I created about a week or so ago, but that didn't really pick up the amount of people I needed for the initial plot, so I'm hoping that might pick up in the future. Whilst I love my Elder Scrolls roleplay and have no desire to let that one die anytime soon, it isn't the fastest moving of roleplays, so I think I might have some free time to co-ordinate another roleplay, somewhat of a favourite of mine: Fallout. I'll post a breif idea before, and you guys can tell me what you think. I'm looking for middle to high casual, and a decent number of characters, but we'll see how it goes.
War. War never changes. After the horrors of mankinds greatest war, humanity began to rebuild in the rubble; settlements began to grow and flourish in the nuclear wasteland, and in all its stubbornness, mankind refused to face extinction. However, mankind were the only ones to rise from the fires of the new-found world; mutants, spreading like plague across the land, as the FEV virus created an entire host of nightmarish beings that plagues the remnants of humanity. From the desolate wasteland of the Capital, to the bright lights of Nevada, humanity was left in a hell of their own creation, living in towns and settlements, and fearing both the mutants, and each other.
The year is 2290. Nearly ten years ago, the NCR defeated Caesars Legion in the second battle of Hover Dam, destroying their greatest threat to their established way of life. With Vegas under its control, the NCR flourished, expanding throughout the region, and taking over or destroying whatever it found in its way. The city grew, attracting many survivors of the wastes with the prospect of wealth and fortune in a city that never slept. However, in the midst of all this, they discovered a long awaited threat; the Brotherhood of Steel. Barely a shadow of what it once was, the Brotherhood did its best to fend off the newly powered NCR, retreating from the safety of their bunker and moving across the wastes, in a month long retreat that resulted in the loss of nearly all of their people. The battle eventually finished shortly outside Nevada, in a long forgotten relic of the pre-war world; an underground train system, which upon still being under construction when the bombs dropped over two hundred years ago, the Brotherhood had been secretly pain-stakingly working to repair. With the station now in NCR hands, they devoted all of their resources to finishing the train system, which seemed to stretch off in one single narrow tunnel endlessly. Upon completion, they sent down a squad of their men to investigate, and what they found leads to a new chapter of the story of the wasteland.
The Capital Wasteland.
The idea began before the great war; a single subway tunnel, five carts in length, each capable of holding thirty people, stretching from the east coast to the west. It was never completed, but with what was left, the NCR managed to get it functional, using it to travel straight across to the Super Mutant infested wasteland, where they met a long forgotten group; the East Coast faction of the Brotherhood of Steel, disgraced by their western brothers years ago. Under the command of their leader, Sarah Lyons, the Brotherhood had held a strong presence in the Capital Wasteland since they defeated the Enclave thirteen years ago, with a great thanks to their giant machine, Liberty Prime. With the fresh water flowing into the central river in the Capital, DC isn't the complete wasteland it once was; its many settlements now grew slightly, and between Rivet City, Megaton and Tenpenny Towers, the region had reached a slight period of prosperity, especially with its Brotherhood protectors.
Unfortunately, the NCR didn't take kindly to the unwelcomed sight of the Brotherhood. Setting up a small embassy in DC around the enterance to the subway tunnel, they pumped forces into DC in an efforts to destroy the Brotherhood quickly. Unfortunately for them, this faction of the Brotherhood was stronger than the scavengers the Nevada faction he become, and easily managed to hold off the initial attack with minimal loses. They lauched a counter attack, importing forces via Vertibird to Nevada in a series of five-year battles that saw no end in sight. The Brotherhood were stronger, but even with Liberty Prime, they were helpless to the NCR's seemingly endless numbers. Eventually, a stalemate was reached, neither side gaining ground on the other.
And this is where out story begins. The years is 2290, five years after the NCR reached the Brotherhood. With both sides attempting to build their forces to beat the other, war continues and seems unending. That is, until both sides reach an inevitable conclusion, the same conclusion mankind reached hundreds of years ago; to win this war, either side would have to go nuclear.
And here you fit in. You were born in the wasteland, and one way or another, this war affects you, whether you are connected to either side or not. You will play a part in either helping to save the wasteland from another nuclear fallout, or aiding in the final push before history repeats itself.
Because war... war never changes.
So, that's the basic idea. The roleplay will take place in both Vegas and the Capital Wasteland, with characters able to travel between the two via the train system, or if you're apart of either faction, vertibird. You don't have to be apart of either faction; you can be whoever you want to be. That is merely a setting, so I'm sure there will be plenty of other stories going on throughout the roleplay.
