I live in a universe where I figure if I'm not sure what I've written is what the teacher wanted, then writing nearly twice as much ensures that somewhere in there I'll probably have something he wanted.
And considering he said that this exam is basically half of your grade and if you were to bomb it you'd fail, I'd like to be sure I get a decent grade on it.
Doing this in my Uni will guarantee you get a 'waffling' comment somewhere on your essay.
Which equates to an automatic fail, pretty much.

This is the same at my college. Which equates to being quite difficult to give them a consice (Spelling?) and indepth essay when they want less then 220 words. I usually write my psychology essays to at least 300 or 400 words, lol.
For anyone who hasn't heard a Somerset accent, please listen to this if my character is stated to orginate from there.
