    Introduction

The year is now 2487. It has been over five hundred years since the world was lost to an abyss known only as The Abyss. Mankind now faces extinction, its civilization divided and struggling to survive. Those lucky enough to find themselves blessed with fortune have wound up in the few remaining fortress-cities in the world: giant self-governed metropolises protected by massive walls and barriers of light to ward off the horrors of the Abyss. In these cities, the survivors live in safety; sleeping soundly while shielded from the shadows beyond its walls. Others less fortunate have been abandoned, braving the blinding dark on their own. These poor individuals have survived scavenging what they can find from the old world, while banding together and battling the shadows lurking in the black fog. It is said that some have become a part of the abyss; their bodies fusing with the darkness as they become the very horrors that they have attempted to elude.

Despite the wasteland outside, the remaining cities have become self-sufficient and prospered to a certain degree, allowing its denizens to live in relative safety and comfort. With the discover of Merlin's Library, mysterious bookshelves filled with knowledge spread throughout the world during the spread of Abyss, mankind has obtained the tools needed to ensure his survival. The massive Fortress-Cities, protected by barriers of light and formidable weapons, have stood their ground against the spread of the abyss for hundreds of years. Nonetheless, the spread of the Abyss has claimed many of these seemingly immortal metropolises. Of the 20 Fortress-Cities that originally existed, only five remain standing to this day. These 5 cities have managed to stay in contact with one another despite the vast distances between them, trading vital resources and information with one another through dangerous pilgrimages in the darkness between them. Spearheading these expeditions are the Vanguard, the last fighting force of mankind. With the arsenal granted to them by the blessings of Merlin's Library, and united under the remaining five cities of mankind, these men and women face the horrors beyond the walls time and time again with an iron will and a loaded rifle. Many have sacrificed themselves for an uncertain future, but through their efforts mankind has continued to persevere.

Is there a ray of hope beyond the fog of obscurity that is The Darkness? Only time will tell as these individuals struggle to secure a future for humankind in such a bleak future.

So I'll just add this in as a start and an interest check. I'll flesh out the world more as I write more and brainstorm more. Just want to get a following going before determining character sheets and whatnot.

    Races

    Humans:
The average human. They have about average strength but make up a majority of the population in Fortress-Cities and survivor groups.

    Vanguard:
The fighting force of the United Nations of Mankind. Trained from a young age, they are humans that have undergone chemical and muscle stimulation in order to boost their abilities to the peak of human fitness. Vanguards are about two times stronger and faster than a normal human. In combat, they wear the Luminance Suit, a form-fitting battle suit designed to boost their abilities, and utilize advanced Prism Light weapons developed from Merlin's Library.

    Sub-Humans:
Sub-humans are mainly survivors who have been mutated by the Abyss. Often, they resemble beastkin, although there exist those who have become more horribly disfigured by the Abyss. Sub-humans exist also within the Fortress-Cities, although they are greatly discriminated upon by the majority of the populace and are often the subject of study by laboratories. Sub-Humans possess above-average strength and reflexes, and can also "sense" the Abyss.

    Neo-Humans:
Humans that have evolved due to the influence of the Abyss. In addition to the advantages of sub-humans, they possess strength and reflexes that rival that of the UN's Vanguards and also many forms of telekinesis. Neo-humans are natural-born people, although in some rare cases normal humans can evolve into neo-humans.

    Neo-Vanguard:
A special branch of the Vanguard that consists of neo-humans and sub-humans. They work together with the Vanguard on operations and sometimes conduct special operations of their own. Like non-humans living within UN settlements, these people also face discrimination by the majority of the populace. Nonetheless, many have found comrades among the Vanguard who fight alongside them.

    Abyssal Demons
Creatures that emerged from the dark. Deranged and grotesque, they are said to represent all the evils and fears of mankind. Most are unintelligent, but seek out light-emitting beings as light impedes the spread of the dark. It is unknown whether or not there exist sentient demons, and some UN scientists theorize that the neo-humans may be the evolved form of the more primitive Abyssal Demons. They can take many forms, and range from extremely agile to possessing tremendous strength.

    Technology Tiers

    Tier IV:
Hyper-advanced technology beyond all human comprehension. The only forms of tier 4 technology exist as ancient relics of Merlin's Library. The Tomes of Merlin's Library are the most common example, while within the Abyss there exist entire artifacts with great and mysterious powers.

    Tier III:
State-of-the-art technology developed by the United Nations of Mankind to combat the Abyss. A prime example of tier 3 technology are the prism weapons, utilizing the newly discovered Prism Light that is hazardous to abyssal creatures, and the Luminance Suit used by Vanguards. Small arms fire prism-charged physical rounds, whereas larger calibers utilize detonation charges and pure prism light. Tier 3 technologies are only available to UN players initially, while they can be scavenged off the bodies of fallen Vanguards by other factions.

    Tier II:
Old technology that was abandoned from the late 20th to mid-21st century. Tier 2 technology consists of the weapons we are familiar with today. Assault rifles, cruise missiles, battle tanks, fighter jets, and the like fall under tier II technology. Tier II technology is available to all factions. Human forces in the UN still rely upon tier 2 technology to a certain degree, although slightly modified with the recent advancements of Merlin's Tomes.

    Tier I:
Clubs, sticks, and ancient century muskets fall under this category. To brave the abyss with such weapons is considered suicide. Tier I technology is often utilized by Abyssal Demons. They have little intelligence and possess incredible strength and agility in addition to varying degrees of claws, tentacles, and the like to tear their foes limb from limb.

Woot! My first follower! Haha, I was worried that no one would be interested. Well, if you have any questions on character creation feel free to ask me. I have some more ideas on my laptop that I haven't published yet.

And now you have another follower! You can count me in! ^-^
When all hope seems lost, and the weight of the world comes crashing down, you fall to your knees utterly defeated. But in the darkness that is the world, a single star shines. You realize, that there is always something worth fighting for. And thus, you raise your sword and shield, stand tall among the fields of carnage. You think of your lover who waits for your return. Your enemies may be numerous but in the end, your will to live and your lover's touch will guide you to victory ever lasting.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

I'm still accepting. And it depends on what you mean by crafting your own tier 3 weapons. These weapons are very advanced beyond what we currently have in the 21st century and would require the proper materials and tools to create. You can have your own unique weapons, but just double check with me to make sure. On another note, as a survivor you can easily loot these weapons off of dead Vanguards. Discarded weapons are common on the battlefield, and ammunition can be scavenged off of Vanguard corpses.
