The world has changed. By now, people we considered 'mutants' have grown in numbers that the government cannot denie their existence. They have become an everyday companion. Some enjoy the luxury of looking human, others might take it bad if you give them stares. Like all the 'normal' people, they enjoy life and participate in all that works itself out in society. Even in crimes, one can find mutants and humans in equal. Terrorists with mutations have been greater threats, yet their strengths have never been a nuisance for too long.
Even war has taken in mutants like their brethren. The tactical use of powers has integrated into all sorts of strategies and brings new facades to the fights. Mutants are nothing new anymore. There is no fear in the population that certain people are mutants and might run amok.
Nevertheless, there are powers even a mutant cannot control. Political powers loose and tighten. Groups rise and fall. All of them, accepted or not, try to collect a ground-level of consensus, what is right and what is wrong. The accepted groups fight those that have been deemed wrong. Nothing new. A struggle for survival in a world as we know it.
After all, we fight fire with water.
If a group rises and is showing a great resilience, governments send in forces that can take care of this. Special Forces nonetheless have gained a lot of growth from mutants. Their powers aquire a lot of new ways to get a job done.
It is 2015. The world is enjoying prosperity after many conflicts and disasters. For those aware, this is a facade. Behind the scenes of life, there is war. Terrorists take over military bases, nuclear weapons or other things that were better off locked away or in good hands. Special Forces clean these problems up quick and easy. To bring the strength of mutants to the field to their best potential, groups of Special Forces have become solely based on mutants. They work perfect.
In the United States, one Special Forces group has gained a lot of interest in particular. 'Novus'. The latin word for 'new' was a common term given to a mutant grouping throughout the American society. The Special Forces team Novus is the oldest and best team the U.S. has at the moment.
As of late, countless reports on lost weaponry, armed conflicts and sightings of enemies have spread through conflict areas around the globe. An organisation has formed in the open and calls to a war. They fight against the system of Capitalism, Democracy and Dictatorship. An anarchist legion has formed. Their performance in operations equals those of modern military ones. An equal enemy on the battlefield. This is a threat that the government cannot take for too long, especially that this terror cell is looking for a revolution on the ground level.
Special Forces teams abort operations, drawn back and/or killed. More and more people leave the military, because they cannot take the endless struggle that has been going on for months. The last card has to be played. Novus is brought into action.
Rumors are that a mole is inside the military, leaking all the information to the terrorists to give them an advantage on the field. It will be hard to handle the fighting...
The terrorist cell known as 'Shade' has gained access and control of the testing facility "Dune Crawler" in the Sahara Desert. Multiple prototype weapons of mass destruction are stored in this facility. The 160th SOAR will drop in the team and allow extraction when needed. Satellite pictures show the facility has moved since it's capture towards the Egyptian borders.
The mission is to recapture the facility and stop it's current movement.
Unknown numbers of enemies and/or weapon equipment. Proceed with great caution.
Soldiers of Novus Special Forces:
Name: Richard "Wolfhound" Matthews
Powers: Shapeshifting. Richard can physically alter his body to become a wolf. The size of the wolf resembles his normal size, making the beast slightly larger than normal ones.
Weaponry: A HK416 with silencer and typical gimmicks. A Colt 1911 pistol and a knife for backup.
History/Bio: From childhood until entering the army, Richard had a typical life with ups and downs. He enjoyed the little wealth his family had, but never felt accepted by his parents. After enlisting himself into the army, Richard found himself drawn to the wilds. With his powers best used for scouting, the young soldier earned himself a great trust among his comrades. The operations always went smoothly. During the Middle East conflicts, this power had proven less efficient, but Richard still showed a lot of strength in stealth. Approached as scout for the Special Forces, this man received the seat of team leader of Novus during operations.
