"Hello, and welcome to the UNIT!" she said.
You are being escorted around a building similar to a 5 star hotel. The halls were made out of marble, with pillars that had gold in the etches. Ivy hung from plant-pots, cascading like water and twisting around these pillars. The beauty was...breath-taking.
There was a twitch, like a television experiencing static, and for a brief moment the loud noise of an alarm burst through your ear-drums and you're running across a metal floor with some other people, then you hear a familiar voice yell "GET DOWN" and then you're back in the beautiful hallway, being shown around by Robin.
Good, friendly Robin who's helping you out right now. She's smiling at you while she punches what appears to be an android square in the face, literally ripping it's head off it's shoulders as it falls to the floor, gushing oil or is it water? Yes, water coming from the fountain you've just passed. She's just giving you a tour. She's your tour guide, remember? You just arrived here - she was giving you a tour.
The image starts to fade, twitching and the voices becoming all static and crackled like a television breaking down again and you're in a massive, empty, dusty room covered in wires, pipes and other items. Robin's currently very busy welding the door shut with her hand, the metal turning to liquid the moment her finger crossed paths with it.
You feel like you've just woke up from a very, very long sleep. Your head is pounding and you can smell burning from the back of your neck. Your muscles - you can't move...what's going on?
Robin slid against the door, exhausted. She stared at her team. her group of...of humans, looking around like frightened animals. They are frightened animals. Goodness knows what's going through their heads.
"Hey, guys...you alright? Listen, the whole 'dear-god-I-can't-move' thing will wear off in a bit. You've been, uh, experiencing a simulated memory - the entirety of humanity's had that same two-minute clip on replay in their memory cores for the past...2000 years...give or take..." Robin looked at her team helplessly. She could sympathize with them - she was programmed to.
"I'm so sorry. You've been treated like filth your entire life. You were all born here, all of you. You've been powering the facility by jogging on treadmills, you've been...eating pills and taking pills for water that have been made from your own waste, you...I am, just so, so sorry right now."
Robin sighed, waving an arm around the big, dusty room. "This place is the Heart. I took you all to the Heart 'cause not even the Tour Guides dare get close to it. But I did, and everything in my programming is telling me to get the hell out..." Robin fell silent, staring at her team hopelessly.
How is she ever going to save them?
