Attack Lancer Pilots: Max 2, and I'm one of them. Will explain more below.
Seven hundred years in the future, earth is now a barren planet. The seas have dried up, the ice caps now exist only in fairy tales, and water is the greatest of resources. Sand is now common in all reaches of the world, as are the ancient buildings of the old world. The people of this new earth are proud people, their hands calloused and their feet tough. They have worked hard over the past three hundred years to carve a livelihood out in the deserts, creating several settlements to live in. One or two of them are even as grand as the old world metropolises. There have even been advances in science and hydrology, a term used for the field of science devoted to water and new ways to gather it.
However, even in this new world where it seems there could be no wrong, there is plenty of it to go around. Bandits, raiders, dangerous creatures, and old world products of experimentation left to fornicate and create whole new types of creatures unheard of. The most terrifying of all being the vicious Blood Hawk. To combat this, leaders of militaries in the largest of cities devised a new way to deliver supplies to outlying settlements and to deal with the persistent dangers that threaten the future of the settlements: The Lance.
The Lance (Lance/Lancer for short) is a large type of machine based on dune buggies used by other settlements, but much larger. The old world term for A Lancer was "Mechanized Warrior". Utilizing old world fuel and fuel made from water and several other chemicals, The Lancers proved to be invaluable, and a group of protectors was born: The Excubitor.
The Excubitor are a group of well trained individuals that travel from settlement to settlement to trade various goods such as water, extravagant food (whatever food they don't take for themselves XD), arms, and mundane supplies to the village, in exchange for fuel, room and board, and other pleasantries. Also, they deal with any and all issues that threaten the town, such as bandits, monsters, and sometimes they have to delve deep underground to explore ancient ruins that have been uncovered. Whether these explorations involve their Lancers or not does not matter to them, they are always happy to do it.
That is who we are, we are a group of Lancemen, traveling from town to town, city to city, home to home, trading and doing everything we can to make life a little easier, but it's not just work. The journey from town to town is always fun, always discovering new things. No two roads are alike in this desert, things are always changing, new creatures are always popping up, and you never know when a new ruin will be uncovered by the ever blowing wind.
But as for us, we do not have to worry about them for now! We just left the Hagar settlement and are now bound towards the city of Jermane, with the sun high in the air and not a single sight of a danger for miles, it looks like it'll be a quiet trip.
In our group, we have a wide variety of people along for the ride. Each one is vital to the survival of the group.
General Lancer Pilots: Max 2. Will explain more about them below.
NOTE!: You are also able to have a Co-pilot if you are a Lancer Pilot! Whether this is another player or a secondary character is up to you!
Caravan Drivers: There is no Lance without the Caravan Drivers. They carry not only passengers that seek escorts to other towns, but trading supplies as well, from water and exotic food to guns and ammunition. They are the most vulnerable part of the caravan and are the targets of almost all bandit attacks.
Soldiers: Standard foot soldiers, they are needed not just to look cool, but to delve deep into ancient ruins. Though the Lance drivers are often trained as soldiers as well, the foot soldiers are an integral part of the team. Without them, a lot of dangers would have to be skipped.
Mechanics: Where there is combat, there is somebody to clean it up. The mechanics keep everything moving and help clean the Lancers at night. They keep the caravan buses moving and keep the Lancers from breaking down, even during a fight! Often times, they are also experts in old world machinery and delve into ruins with soldiers to pry open doors and reactivate old machinery.
Demolition experts: One of the biggest problems of the sands are hidden mines. Bandits and raiders love hiding mines in the sand and attacking when they go off. Mines more often than not cripple Lancers and caravan buses alike. Demolition experts make sure this doesn't happen.
Traders: Max of 2:What would a trading caravan be without the traders? They are the merchants of the group and are tasked with getting the best prices for goods to trade with the next town as well as trading away the Lanceman's own precious cargo.
Doctors: Highly prized in the wastes by both Lancemen and citizens alike, they are quite literally the stitches that hold everybody together through thick and thin.
If you have any other fields of expertise you wish to suggest, feel free.
Also: if you wish to have two professions, feel free. But no more than two, don't want some mary/gary sue stuff goin' on up in here...yo.
Variety of Lance:
For now, there are but two types of Lancer for you to choose from, however this is subject to change if people suggest something awesome that works.
They are the work horses of the Lance. They often carry crates and supplies on their backs or shoulders that the caravan vehicle cannot carry themselves. They also carry extra fuel, ammunition, and repair supplies for the group. Many are constructed in such a way to reflect the sun and create a shadow for others to use when camping or refueling. They are vulnerable, but not entirely. They are fantastic for general, stationary defense and are powerful against foot soldiers, but they are weak versus heavy explosives and require constant maintenance because sand can get in their gears and can disable or break them after some time.
There are mainly three types of General Lancer: Human, and Spider.
The most common variant is the Human Model, Modeled as such because of the human's ability to handle any task outside of combat. They are all around utility bots and are great for basic defense. They do support light weaponry and light melee weapons. They also are the toughest out of the group so they can protect the caravan and each other. Not to mention they are the most fuel efficient as well.
The spider however is much different, modeled after the Arachnid because it is able to carry much more than the human variant and can climb obstruction much more easily. They can even climb up canyon walls to put themselves in a secure place. They utilize special drills and hooks on their body to scale walls. They however have no fighting capabilities what-so-ever and have no armor as they need to remain as light as possible so they can scale walls.
New to the lineup is the Walker mech. These are created for one purpose and one purpose only: Defense. Designed with only a legs and torso, they are vulnerable to being knocked over. They can also come in "insect" varieties. They should be catagorized as Attack Mechs, but they move much much slower, about the pace of a general mech. They are known to have weapon platforms and slightly weaker armor than the general mech. They are rarely employed because of their singular use, but when they are, they are a force to be reckoned with. They are also the one true threat to a blood hawk.
The Attack Lancer put the "Lance" in "Lancer". Limited to two for good reason, they are larger and more expensive than the General Lancer, but they require more maintenance than a General Lancer and are more vulnerable to mines and sand in their gears. Their one job is to take down anything that threatens the Caravan, be that danger be bandits, raiders, automated turrets, or large wildlife, the Attack Lancer can and will destroy it with extreme prejudice. However, the trade off is that the Attack Lancer is in fact weaker to attacks.
Like the General Lancer, the Attack Lancer has two mainline models it uses to differ each other: Canine and Feline.
Canine units are slower and tougher than Felines, but can support larger guns such as mini-guns, cannons, or long range weaponry. They also have a very strong melee and a short range booster to make their melee deadly.
Feline units are smaller, faster, and lighter than the Canines. Though weaker and more prone to weaponry, they can support smaller weaponry, such as light machine guns, grenade throwers, and heavy melee weaponry. They have the most devastating melee attacks and can use momentum to rend their targets much easier than the Canine units.
Both types of Lancer have few exceptions to the rule of model.
Also, please don't feel compelled to be a Lance Pilot just because it's what a lot of people want to be it doesn't mean that you have to be. Be who you want!
- - No godmodding, powerplay, metagame, etc.
- - You can be flexible with your character, but try not to make any super special snowflakes.
- - On that note, don't try and force your character into the spotlight all the time. Try and work as a member of the team, not the best of the team.
- - Try to stick with the setting, in both character and any little bits of lore you make up.
- - Try to be available to post at least once every 2 days.
- - I won't try and force you all into doing whatever I feel is the right course of action, but please don't try to completely derail the train just for the sake of derailing it.
- - Use common sense, please.
if you have any suggestions, they will be considered and possibly integrated into the RP if they will meld successfully.
Remember! If you need a catchup on events in the IC or you have any questions about anything, feel completely free to post it. I or the others will answer it as best as we can!
Please! I beg you! Spend as much time as you wish on your character! Make a character you'll adore and love to play forever! We will not leave you in the dust while we play!

One of the three metropolises that occupy the desert, Hampshire is not the largest, but it is the most fortified. Hampshire is the military capital of the land and is where most of the Lancers are built and is also where the Lancemen was originally formed. They are also in charge of Weapons R&D. Their population numbers in the 5-7 thousand.
The Pipeline is one of the most important-and most heavily defended-Metropolises in the known world. It is the center of Hydrology and is where most of the water comes through when it is being distributed throughout the wastes. As a consequence, the Pipeline is also where most food is prepared for the Excubitor to deliver and is also the target for a lot of the larger raider clans.
[/hider]The Muertes are the "Watchers" of the wastes. While not a giant threat, they have many experienced snipers at their disposal and are always watching their territory with scouts. They have confirmed access to Lancer units and use them for raids. Often equipped with grenade throwers and melee weapons, they strike fast and hide faster. They also often use EMP mines to disable enemy Lancers and strike as soon as they go off. Using Motorbikes in tandem with Mechanized Warriors, they move into a disabled group, kill or capture everybody, and take the Lancers for themselves.
