Spirals Of sunlight just managed to filter Through the low hanging clouds that promised rain later that day , Splashing uneven patches On the world below. A lone Staraptor wheeled in a Circle just under the clouds, sharp gaze sweeping The landscape far beneath it from beneath its signature red head feathers. With a screech, it turned Towards Mt. Cornet In the distance, It's progress followed only by one set of eyes From the quiet Settlement of Sandgem Town. But With a blink, Scott Returned to himself and his feet planted On the ground, a long sigh Escaping him that sounded heavy and full of regret. With one last look After the soaring avian, he finally Stepped away from the Pokémon Center. How he wished he could simply pluck a Pokéball from his belt And call forth his own bird Pokémon to take him soaring into the sky. Sadly, he had neither of these, still unofficially a trainer Himself. At This idea, his dark violet eyes sparked With determination, his jaw tightening with resolve.
Scott Hamilton had Just had his eighteenth Birthday the day before, the taste of freedom finally at his fingertips. Without even a backward glance, he had Settled his backpack onto his shoulders And set off from his hometown of Oreburg The very same day, his Parents not even caring to watch him go. For years he had begged Them to allow him to go on a journey, to receive Pokémon of his own. They had vehemently Refused every time, insisting that working in the mine was a much more practical goal. His pleas Steadily grew less frequent, The distance between himself and his parents ever widening, until he simply stopped asking. Without their knowledge, he began to collect and save every penny he could get, planning out every step he would need to take to finally have the one thing he truly wanted as soon as he didn't need their consent. Putting a Baseball cap over his dark brown curls, He had determinedly walked straight past the waiting miners hat That was his present, ignored the stony expression on his father's face, and traveled all that day just to reach where he was now. And after spending the night in the Pokémon Center, he was more than ready to make his dream a reality
Stepping through the automatic doors Of the laboratory, Air-conditioned coolness washing Over his body, Scott felt His spirits thrill, his heart began to pound. Almost instantly, his eyes began to Flickr around the interior of the front room, the equipment on the tops of the tables, the multitude of cabinets, and most Importantly the handful of Pokéballs Nestled into a container on the table piled high with Pokédexes.
"Prof.?" He Called out tentatively. "Prof. Palm?"
