"Ahh.. This is the life.." Marku thought as he leaned back against the rock he was sitting against, looking over at the beautiful. He sighed a breath of relief, settling back into his mossy-stone seat. He took another deep breath and untied the strap of leather he kept around his head, allowing his long and pointy half-elvish ears to burst forth from their prison. Closing his eyes, he leaned back and let the sun warm his body, slowly draining the teenage boy's pains and aches. The warm glow of the sun warmed his entire body and filled him with a serene energy... Or was that just the Kiruchin, the mystical magic force that controlled everything in Lytherina? Still, it didn't matter to Marku, as long as he could bask in the sun and enjoy a nice day. He heard a crinkle and remembered that he had something special prepared for lunch. Slowly, he sat up and unwrapped a piece of grilled fish, which was previously covered in parchment. He smiled as the sweet smell of grilled Salmon filled his nose and opened his mouth wide to take a bite of the already boned and skinned fish, when suddenly he heard a familiar voice call out to him.
He chuckled quietly to himself and slowly stood up, using the large rock as a way of balancing himself. He then dusted himself of all grasses and made his way slowly to his little sister, who was currently crouched on top of a tree stump, crouched into a tight little ball. Her eyes were jammed shut and her face was scrunched up in resistance. "Hey, Saia-kun... What's the matter?" he asked in a kind and sweet voice, looking down at his cute younger sister. She shook her head in fear and pointed towards the ground. "GET IT AWAY FROM ME, NII-SAN!! ITS GROSS AND ICKY!!" she exclaimed, before her large purple wizard hat twitched and out popped Toshini, who shook its head rapidly. "Icky, Icky!! Gross, Gross!!" the adorable small orange magic creature repeated, standing on her head. Marku felt a shred of embarrassment come over him and he looked downwards to discover his sister was pointing at a black garden snake. He rolled his eyes and removed his sword from its latch on his belt, holding the hilt of his sword outwards to pick up the snake. The snake slithered onto the hilt, wrapping itself around the end before Marku picked it up and walked about 12 meters away from Saia, before he placed the sword on the ground and allowed the snake to slither off. "There you go buddy... Sorry about her, she doesn't really understand... You and I are judged a bit too harshly, aren't we?" he asked as the snake turned to look at him, tilting its head to the side. Marku smiled and said "I mean, people just don't seem to like either of us... You're a snake, you frighten people. Me, I'm just.. Well, lets say I'm a bit of a mix, alright? Now then, you'd better slither away, otherwise Saia's gonna freak out. Trust me, I'm doing you a favour by taking you away." he said with a chuckle before he petted the snakes head lightly and turned away, grabbing his sword while he prepared to walk back. What he didn't realize, however, was that the snake discretely snuck into his bag and his there, obviously having grown fond of him for some reason.
When he got back to their little campsite, he stared at Saia with disbelief. She was still scrunched up on the stump and he let out a deep sigh. "You know, sometimes you're a real pain, Saia-kun. It was just a garden snake, totally harmless. It probably had a best nearby or something and was guarding its eggs." he explained casually before he realized his mistake. Saia's eyes popped wide open at his words, before they scrunched up even more and she let out the highest pitched scream he had ever heard. Marku had to cover his ears as she screamed. Saia began to rapidly shake her head in total fear and yelled "AGAGAGAGAHHHHH!! WHY ARE THESE GROSS THINGS EVEN HERE? THIS IS A PLAIN, NOT A SNAKE-BREEDING GROUND!! PLEASE NII-SAN, LETS GET OUT OF HERE!! I CAN'T EAT WITH THE THOUGHT OF ALL THOSE ICKY SLIMY SNAKES WANDERING AROUND AND LAYING EGGS RIGHT BY MY FEEEEET!!" As Marku tried blocked out his little sisters annoying screeches and while Toshini tried to quiet her down (even a magical sprite-thingy couldn't handle a scream of that caliber) he groaned in annoyance. She always freaked out about animals like snakes and rats, calling them gross or slimy. She was such a Girly-girl, especially for a Mage who was supposed to have so much power. She couldn't even LOOK at a rat, much less turn somebody into one was punishment. While her screaming continued, neither of the three realized that sooner then naught, their lives would change forever... But realistically, not by much. In fact, there was another Marku who was listening to his sister screech about finding a rubber spider in her locker. Both versions of him only thought about the one thing, though:
"God, I hope my Salmon stays warm.."
