Angels can’t do magic. Sorry. Miracles can trick the eye and Tamers can trick the mind but they can’t do magic. Weather angels can control their element but can be controlled by it just as easily turning them in more of a channel for nature’s forces than an “element user”.
Demon magic can’t create matter. It could shape and reform, bend together and alter, but not create. Most often their magic requires the energy of a living being, demons working for a weak magic, humans for quite a decent one, and angels… well, let’s say the Council do their best to not offer demons any chance of obtaining the bodies of their deceased.
I will allow for humans to be able to master magic if that’s requested, but you’ll have to consult me about your ideas. So far there are NO human magicians or holy and unholy artifacts.
Angels, Demons and Humans. If someone wishes to play a Council member, feel free to consult me.
There is no info on any demonic structures, shapes or abilities because there are thousands of demon types and I'll leave it up to the players who wish to play demons to shape their own type out.
There is also no info on the humans as I didn't deem that necessary and I haven't thought about them too much. If you wish to discuss and add them, be my guest. ^^
1. Please, for the sake of everyone, try to be active. I’m sure all the characters will be unique and interesting an assure for a good read for all of the others, so be polite and don’t leave us hanging too long. Especially when you’re interacting with another player, your activity plays a vital role and every day of waiting is loss of interest the way I see it. So try to post every 3-4 days and warn us if you’ll be away. *I’m very happy that you join us but if you’re inactive for a week I might need to spank you.
2. Apply your knowledge of the universe of the RP in any way you can think of. You’re as much a GM as I am, so don’t be afraid to contribute. Think of side-stories, quests, anything. I personally love surprises and don’t mind challenges so if you want to unleash a demon NPC my way, be my guest. Also, I love a good tragedy so that’s encouraged too.
3. Still, try to stick to the rules so we all know what’s happening. If you can pull off an exceptional character that would be a great contribution but do it well so it makes sense why he/she’s exceptional.*
What I encourage
4. Character depth.
5. Various interpretations of the worlds and rules – every one race has their own standards and understandings of ethics and such. I would love to see all the misfits we can come up with.
6. Surprises, both good and bad. Personally, I don’t mind people meddling with my characters’ story – go ahead and try. ^^
7. Using Council NPCs when you need them.
8. Feedback. I’d love it if you tell me what I can do to upgrade my writing style or what I should be doing better as a GM.
9. Contribution - I can use any help I get. ^^
What I don’t encourage so much
1. Biblical references – this is an RP with angels and demons but it’s an alternate world that has almost nothing to do with ours. Don’t mistake the two.
2. Holy chainsaws and holy chainsaw arms.
3. Holy weapons overall, although I’m willing to negotiate (with anyone but Rtron ).
4. Depending on the GM to move your character’s story along. I’m not capitulating from my duties but I won’t have the time to move everything along.
Remember, there are two equally revered gods here and they’re not like God and Lucifer where each is respectively the god of one race.
Gods (pl.) means that you respect both gods equally; most living beings should unless they have their own take on things. God (sg.) means your character doesn’t accept the sharing of power between Lucy and Aauris and only respects one of the original sides - the pure demon Lucy (Aaurus’ passionate creation before it became more objective and cold) or Aaurus (the original Creator who doesn’t have the notion of feelings).
PS I'm a sucker for two things: feedback and brainstorming. Extra love points for anyone who provides any of the two. :3

The surrounding trees, I now noticed, all appeared burned jet black, but their leaves were instead a deep red. The ground was firm, but also seemed to carry some strange energy.
I've not seen anything like this before, but this reminds me of what my mentor used to tell stories about: the sites of demonic rifts. During the Great War these were apparently used en mass to allow demons to shift between realms with ease. Since then, most demons have forgotten how to use them, or the art has simply been lost as many elder demons died in that war, and good riddance to them. This...this however is worrying, because if memory serves me well, and it does, only very old demons remember how to open these gates.
And old hellions tend to be incredibly powerful. Let us hope this is merely a human experiment gone wrong.
Following this report, many more Rift sites were located. More show up as the years pass, but incidents do not always follow.
First Incident Report – The Riots:
Signed Esthelo; Status, Battle Angel.
Time Frame Reference: Eight years ago. One month following Vioca's report.
Message Delivered Personally by Esthelo to a Seraph official.

The hell is even going on! There has to be some explanation for this, humans don't just up and rebel like this...right?!”
The Riots lasted for three more weeks before people seemed to just simmer down, as if they had forgotten why they were rioting. The angels never figured out the cause for the riots as no particularly violent deaths by angel hands had occurred before their onset. There was not very much buildup for the event, and the rate at which it ceased also appeared sudden, as if something had simply stopped influencing their behavior. Many of the Rioters, after those five hellish weeks, reported bouts of memory loss. When others were asked in more recent years to recall the events of those five weeks, they remembered either none of it at all, or tiny fragments and emotions. The most disturbing recollection however, came from a young woman who could only remember being kidnapped several days before the riots. After that point, she said the only thing she could remember was pain.
Second Incident Report – The Shadow Murders:
Signed James Bran; Status, Human(A guardian angel's charge).
Time Frame Reference: Eight years ago. Two months following Esthelo's report and The Riot Incident.
Message Delivered Personally by James to a Seraph official after much delay:
”Something is obviously going on. They may not be your kind, angel, but some...creature is murdering humans in very specific intervals. It appears to be morse code of some convoluted sort.”
Mr. Bran's plead for angelic intervention led to only more deaths. Eventually the deaths stopped completely, but only after exactly one hundred and twenty five murders had occurred. On some days there was one death, on others two, three, four, or even seven. However, even though there could be multiple deaths in a day, there were often days without deaths. Eventually, after many hours of figuring and decoding, Mr. Bran sent in this pattern of morse code to the angels, along with a letter detailing that it was the message that had been delivered through the long...long string of murders. A spree that had lasted all of eighty seven days.
When translated, the message reads as the following:

There were no further murders and thus no messages to follow. The only conclusion that the council could come up with, was that a hellion of the Nightwalker class had somehow made its way onto Surface and that it was responsible for the murders. However, this was altered to more than one Nightwalker class hellion, as many of the murders took place almost simultaneously in different locations, suggesting more than one of the blasted demons!
After The Second Incident, nothing of notable value happens for all of three years.
Third Incident Report – The Vanishing Feathers:
No specific individual.
Time Frame Reference: Five years ago.
Messages were not delivered by a specific individual:
During a space of three months, over twenty four angels vanished and reappeared mysteriously. Some angels were gone for nearly a week, some only a single day. However, what linked the cases were that none of the angel's could remember what had happened to them, and their feathers held no memories of the occurrence, as if it had never happened at all. Several of the angels did not reappear for weeks on end. However, upon their reappearance, the angels were either insane, or horribly traumatized. It appeared that these particular angels were, in some fashion, forced to remove more than twenty feathers, or forced to attempt past life recall without the proper support or time. The only conclusive statement that the council could make was that it had been caused by demons. The council never figured out who was the one behind it, though they did apprehend, and kill, several surface demons who claimed some form of responsibility. Oddly, none of their deaths made any difference. After the end of the third month, the incidents simply stopped. Only three angels never reappeared, two battle angels and a weather angel. They were presumed dead.
Fourth Incident Report – The Dark Brands:
Signed Availus; Status, Seraph Angel.
Time Frame Reference: Five years ago. Three months after The Vanishing Feathers Incident.
Message Delivered Personally by way of Feather:
I had been hunting a specific group of Surface Demons, nasty bastards, led by several lower class hellions, probably from the western region of hell. I'd counted at least two Nightwalkers among the ranks of the leaders. I had been assigned this task along with two tamers and a rather renowned battle angel. As we flew, stealthily of course, we made sure not to let the group out of our range of feeling. The battle angel's senses were sharp you see, so we had more than our eyes to track them with.
After several minutes, we were in the optimum position so I commanded Kealn, the battle angel, to send the group into disarray. I would allow no cooperation among their ranks, after all, our numbers were less than theirs, though our strength was surely greater! They were merely lowly demons anyways!
So Kealn swooped down upon them, using his odd choice of weapon –a set bow an arrow with enchanted arrows made to explode on contact, but never to destroy themselves-- to split the group in three ways. The manuever was successful, so I landed and began to deal with one of three groupings while the two tamers unleashed their pets on the bastards.
One moment we were doing well, and the next moment I remember only darkness. I remember hearing the screams of my kin being cut off suddenly, and I remember being unable to move.
When I awoke, the demons were gone, and I was unharmed, as were the others. We returned to headquarters in Loom, ashamed and confused. I sent the others off, except for Kealn. I spoke with him briefly, and then he departed.
- - - - -
The next day, I was told by an acquaintance that there was a strange mark that appeared to be burned onto the back of my neck. I thought it merely a scar or something left behind by the demons who had escaped. However, the very next day I found that it had spread and had extended across my back.
Several days passed and it only got worse. Eventually, I could not maintain focus on my duties for I was so maddened by the markings that crisscrossed my entire body except my face and my wings. I hoped neither would be touched, but of course I was not so lucky.
The markings began to sully my wings and spread over my face, even into my eyes, depriving me of sight. I could feel the accursed things pulsating on my flesh...in my bone.
I was sent into quarantine and I remember little after the markings covered my wings. Only flashes and snippets of phrases, various shocks of magic and the like. I remember hearing that those who had come along to hunt the pack also had these...these dark brands. I felt a prisoner in my own body. Partially conscious, but never aware and never in control. I am still as such, but now I am sealed in onyx...for the safety of others.
Thirty Two documented cases of these dark brands were located and taken care of. However, not all angels effected by the brands fell into the unconscious state. Some went raving mad and attempted to harm those around them. Others seemed to mutate, their bodies twisting into horribly disfigured masses of flesh. For some the markings simply ceased to spread. The luckiest of the victims found that their brands receded and eventually became inactive, though they retain the mark even today.
What the brands are is unclear, but it is apparent that they originate from the western region of hell. This was determined by a wandering human mage knowledgeable in the art of Athriohm who identified the chaotic power within the marks. This power originates from the western region of hell and can only be effectively used by demons from that area, primarily(there are exceptions). The brands did appear to be magically contagious unless they receded or became inactive, the reason for such is unknown.
Fifth Incident Report – Uniting the Underground:
Signed Vioca; Status, Seraph Anel.
Time Frame Reference: Five years ago. Six months after The Dark Brand Incident.
Message Delivered Personally by Vioca:
Strange activity in the underground of Loom has been occurring of late. While murder, rape, and demonic infestation were fairly normal, there appear to be some form of conflict transpiring. It is as if several lesser known gangs have begun to eliminate or assimilate the others. Marks akin to the Dark Brands of just six months ago have been made as graffiti on many structures. It seems to be the sigil of these rising gangs, though there are slight differences in each one, four of five individual versions to be specific.
This conflict in the underground lasted for three years, dying down and flaring up off and on over that time. The angels wrote it off for the most part.
After The Fifth Incident, nothing of notable value happens for all of three years.
Sixth Incident Report – Knowledge Lost:
Signed Mark Gaines; Status, Human scholar.
Time Frame Reference: Three years ago.
Message Delivered Personally by Mark Gaines' guardian angel Fiormen lasa:
Over the last couple of months there has been a bizarre series of occurrences all centered around the Loom Memorial Library. Due to the library's dire financial straits of recent, an anonymous individual appears to have offered some form of contract to assist them in their dilemma. I have been unable to ascertain any information about this individual. While there have been others who have sought to help, they have all died or given up due to various circumstances. Some have died, others gone mad, or fallen ill. Only one of them appears to have survived, but all of them reported strange...sounds and other phenomena within the walls of the library some time before their death.
Much fear has been caused by these strange events and the library is seldom visited now. Of course, as of tomorrow, it appears that the library will never open again; something about the fine print of the agreement that the library's administration has signed with the two remaining benefactors, one being the anonymous individual, and the other being a woman by the name of Lily Qarin. While I am not sure of how, I am certain that this somehow relates to the previous incidents. If you do not recall what I refer to, I mean the incidents that appear to occur every three years.
I may be a mere human in your eyes, but I implore that you do further research on the possibility that the past five incidents are all connected. I'd advise that you contact me, but I must disappear, I don't think I'm safe anymore. I know too much....

All attempts to locate her have been unsuccessful and the reason for her disappearance is a complete mystery.
After The Seventh Incident, nothing of notable value happens for all of three years.
Summary of Knowledge: Read The Incident Reports First Please
In terms of the strange demonic being known as 'Szayeis', the council has decided that it is a demon upstart of some sort, considerably powerful and certainly a notable threat. However, the council is unsure of his rank in the demonic hierarchy, though they think it to be somewhere between Warden status and the status of a Lord. Most of the above incidents appear to have been caused by the same being, the one aforementioned in this summary, but we are still unsure as there are only some indicators. We know that this being, if it is indeed the primary one responsible, is at least old enough to have participated in The Great War as it must have been to know how to open Demonic Rifts. Additionally, its abilities seem reminiscent of Nightwalkers so it is likely from the Western Region of hell, but this could be incorrect. It is plainly incredibly intelligent, we must shamefully admit, as it has avoided all attempts on its life and to discover its true nature. The likelihood that it is a lord or a being near that level is very strong as the first incident report indicates that it may possess the infamous Eyes of Praestigia a trademark of every Western lord since the beginning of our our historical records...or rather, those we still hold.
While we cannot be certain to Szayeis' exact level of power, political influence, or even race, it is certain that the demon is a threat. If a demon with the eyes of Praestigia is sighted, do not engage, flee and report to the council immediately! This being is to be treated with extreme caution.
Side note: Information regarding the rifts is subject to change somewhat.
Since the split of the specializations started 5000 years ago he'd have to go at least half the time back to get anything beyond one type or class. And that wouldn't necessarily mean becoming stronger - in fact their certain set of skills is more advanced now than it used to be. Imagine it in biological terms.
Basis difference (Archangels being the monkey) (yes, seriously. xD):
Specific sets of skills (types or classes):
What being a Seraph offers you is:
1. Possible insanity and mental breakdown (for remembering all the losses you've had in your life and being stuck with your past self and all your mistakes in your mind.)
2. Possibly bigger wisdom (or bigger insanity). => making you more prone to thinking about the big picture rather than the small.
3. Better understanding of the human world and it's history.
Whether this is beneficial? For most angels - not really as it could only hinder their day-to-day jobs. That's why they don't do it. But it's useful for trying to run an institution like the Council.
So... Cel, Yosh, and I wanted run our ideas by you first before we make full blown character sheets.
Yoshua would like to recycle an old CS of his for this RP: A vampire named Mairyell (thus making him a demon). He has blood powers/magicks.
Celaira would like to play Mairyell's younger human sister.
I would like to play the younger sister's Guardian Angel, who was recently assigned to protect her and so has mixed feelings about it (because of Mairyell). I also wonder what RANK my type of angel (guardian) would be. I'm assuming a common angel?
Also, I do not know if the fact that a demon and human are blood siblings is, you know, problematic. If needed, we can fix it as needed. But yes, we just wanted to run our ideas by you so we don't have to redo like 75% of our CS's or something.
I also have a question: what powers do the typical guardian angels have? =o
Yosh has a question, too: how powerful can our magic be at the start? I'll probably have Mairyell start moderately powerful/between moderate and 'beginning'
Wind, I'll be using my old characters, maybe I'll have to tweak John if Exastris doesn't use Michelle again.
Other than that,
Right, my computer is going to be down and out for a couple days, so heads up.
RL HAS DECIDED TO DEVOUR MY FREE TIME. AS SUCH, I WON'T BE ON UNTIL 5:30ish(CENTRAL TIME) AND WILL BE GETTING OFF FOUR HOURS LATER ON THE WEEKDAYS. WEEKENDS ARE BEING DEVOURED AS WELL. I'LL BE SLOW IN POSTING. UNTIL MARCH, WITH SOME EXTENDED PERIODS OF FREE TIME IN BETWEEN.
OK Rtron, I'm off to the seaside Myself but I'll get this started first.
Don't be surprised the first posts will be the same as last time but I'll add new things as we go. Also I added a lil bit on the bottom of the angel department on the site.
For the others, I'll revise your ideas later today. I'll also try to start the IC in the next 38 or so hours.
Double posting, but anyway. I put quite a bit extra information on the site. Sorry if some of it is sloppy but I hope it gives you a vague idea and enough info to start with actual character sheets. I won't be able to lead long and deep discussions after those 12 hours before I have to leave to the seaside, so if anything is unclear, it's best to ask me ASAP. You can also consult ExAstris as he's a veteran and Rtron is absent.
Mikael, all the ideas are fine by me, if you can make them work. As stated, humans will be the hardest to play because it's "an eye for an eye" world but if you guys think you can manage it, I'd be happy to see it work. ^^ Having a Guardian will surely help and ensure for sufficient drama, it seems. As for the rank, choose any, but if you want them to be treated with respect it has to be at least a Grey.
And one important remark, in this world we have two gods, so it's not "in the name of God" but "in the name of the Gods". Also the Bible doesn't exist.
Just a quick message, I'd like to suggest something different and new. Never tried it before, but tell me what you think.
Players have a choice of two approaches.
1 – Pawns. Being manipulated by another player. That means the storyline you’re following will be controlled by another player, responsible to lead you to your destiny, manipulate you into taking the right (or wrong) decisions and presenting the challenges you face.
The pairings will be decided either by you (if you request being linked to a specific player) or by chance (say by drawing matching numbers).
All the storylines will be kept secret from the Pawns but would have to be done in good moderation – you can try to attempt to cripple a Pawn but you need to give it a fighting chance. Ultimately the Masters come up with the storylines but the Pawns are responsible or taking the decisions for themselves.
Being in this position however might mean you being lead down a path you don’t necessarily wish to follow. It’s a battle of wits where the careful manipulation of your Master might result in your own demise – one you didn’t see coming.
2 – Masters of their own Fate (MFs? xD). That’s the usual approach where you think of your own storyline and follow it through. You can do so by creating linked characters or playing a demon character.
I'll definitely be going for the masters of Fate playing style, just because it fits with the themes i'm playing with (went over all that with you in PMs Wild Wind ) Though i don't expect to have any pawns, don't have any reason to need them at this point. As the character does his own thing and just interferes when needed
Alias:"Blackhawke the Apostate", "The Lord of the North"Note: He keeps his alias and true identity hidden for good reasons. As such he won't be recognized upon first seeing him
Social status: A fallen King and a vagabond, spurned and hated by many.
Relations: He has no immediate family
Duty: Wanders the world and observes the conflict between the Angels and Demons. Having been connected to their clashes and politics before.
Personality: Pragmatic and stoic, with a tint of sadness but is also very worldly. Knowing more than the average human about the battles between Heaven and Hell. He keeps to himself and refuses to let others get close to him, feeling that they would only hate him if they found out his true identity. His recent life as a vagabond has made him tough, and views both Angels and Demons with a level of suspicion and mistrust. But more important than anything else is his ability to keep his cool in tense situations and stand his ground against even the fiercest of foes
Biography: Modern Britain had fallen due to the pressures of the Heavens clashing and had reverted back to a more primitive Monarchy. Governed by the elderly King Richard IV, who was an idealist and desired to prove to the Angels that Humans could truly govern by themselves in a moral and responsible manner. And within a few years, Richard had pushed the idea of "The Eight Virtues" a simple code of ethics that people were encouraged to follow of their own free will. The virtues were:
Through these, an "ethical golden age" soon followed due to the strategic implementation of Richard's moral code. And it seemed the Old King was to die proving to the Angels that Man could govern and achieve moral bliss without their help. Beloved by both Angel and Mankind alike, his death brought a shockwave to the world but also reassurance in their new leader, Lord Blackhawke.
Blackhawke was a younger advisor and confidant to the King and was seen as his most trustworthy and wisest servant. His position as next in line could only be seen as a continuation of King Richard's policies.
But that was not the case, within six months of his rule. Blackhawke implemented a series of draconian laws based around the eight virtues. They were no longer simply a guide by which people could chose to lead their lives. Now they were enforced by the state, their original meaning and purpose twisted and contorted beyond repair:
Honesty:Thou shalt not lie or thou shalt lose thy tongue.
Compassion:Thou shall help those in need, or thou shall have the same need.
Valor:Thou shalt fight to the death in the name of the virtues, or be banished a coward.
Justice:Thou shalt confess to thy crime and suffer the punishment, or thou shalt be put to death.
Sacrifice:Thou shalt donate half thy income to charity, or thou shalt have no income.
Honor:If thou do something dishonorable, thou shalt take thy own life.
Spirituality:Thou shalt enforce the laws of virtue, or die as a heretic before the Gods.
Humility:Thou shalt humble thyself before thy superiors, or thou shall suffer their wrath.
Within a few weeks the tyrannical Blackhawke had brought the country to its knees. And the Angels were openly suspicious of his behavior, which was most unlike his demeanor when he was an adviser to the former King. Though they refused to intervene until it came to their attention that Blackhawke was in possession of an artifact; an unholy sword from the pits of hell.
By the end of his significantly shorter reign, a large amount of riots across the country began to amass and unify under one unnamed hero. Who challenged Blackhawke for power and overthrew him, with the crown going to a young Sosaria, a distant relative of Richard IV. Many (including some Angels) called for Blackhawke's immediate execution.
However a deeper investigation by Sosaria and like-minded Angels revealed that the cause of all the suffering was not entirely Blackhawke's fault. An unknown Demonic influence had been corrupting his mind. Which also explained how the fallen king had gained his unholy sword, which had conveniently disappeared shortly before the King was disposed of. With the presence of a large number of Angels however, the strange Hellish aura retreated and seeped back into the world it came from. Blackhawke returned to his wits, ashamed and mournful. The new Queen, Sosaria gave him a choice: to be judged by a trial of his peers, or to be exiled from Britain for the rest of his days. Fearing death, Blackhawke chose exile and has lived the rest of his life as a vagabond up to this point. Being able to fend for himself with his skilled use of firearms and of course his trump card: His sword, which he somehow retrieved again, as if it was bound to him.
Blackhawke is hated and reviled throughout the world as an Evil Tyrant who destroyed the one chance the Humans had to prove themselves to the Angels. Angels too, are disgusted by him for his demonic influence (even if it was against his will) and his horrific sword: a rusty, nicked Silver saber from Hell. Which, while it looks ineffective is incredibly powerful. Not only is he able to wound both Angels and Demons, but the wounds linger and cause extreme irritation and pain to the victim, which would only slow them down and make them open for a more lethal attack.
Due to his infamy, Blackhawke has hidden his identity and now calls himself Julian, which is his generally unknown first name.
Extra (With Permission from the GM) : Julian is immune to being influenced by both Demons and Angels due to the severe nature of the corruption of his soul previously. As such, he knows all the mind tricks Tamer Angels and their Demon counterparts and can resist their manipulations.

she didn't understand why girls liked guys in general. She thought all of them were pigs and assumed that they would all turn out like her lazy, drunk father and so she hated them all with a passion.
