Girls Und Panzer: Bouryaku Academy
Tankery.... Art of Tank Warfare, a symbol for strong, independent women everywhere... until now. For decades, all girl warship academy's have been clashing against each other in this extreme sport, but times have changed for Tankery. The sudden introductory of of one key element will seemingly change the face of Tankery forever. That new element, is men! After many years, multiple groups pushing for sexual equality in both the warship academies and the sport of Tankery with very little success, but everything has changed. Now, after a long fought legal battle and pressure to reform, boys are allowed not only to attend these warship academies, but participate in the sport of Tankery! Even with the reform in place, there is still much resistance in the lower levels of the school system, along with very prevalent sexism on both sides.
The first academy that was chosen for the integration program was a relatively new one compared to the others. Bouryaku Academy, an esteem educational establishment, known for its particular specialization in Science and Math, its diverse array of students, and even more so in its lack of participation in the sport of Tankery. Though with heavy pressuring from the school board and the integration of men, Bouryaku Academy is forced to form its first ever Tankery team, and the timing could not be better!
The new school year has started with male students first arriving during the break. People have already signed up for their spot on the school Tankery team and assembled their crew. Now the team for the first time assemble at the school's brand new garage and Tankery training field for the orientation meeting with the student body council. Will this rag tag band of international rookies be able to hold up against the veteran teams of the other competing schools?
Bouryaku Academy Tankery Depot
"Hurry up already! We don't have all day!" Kara yelled into the locker rooms while she waited outside for the rest of her friends. She stood in the Tankery team's uniform, arms crossed and tapping her foot impatiently. Kara could barley contain her excitement the entire day, and she wasn't going to put a lid on it now. "I feel like I'm really part of something! We look so cool! This is going to be really fun! I wonder what-" thoughts and questions continued to race through her mind, only to be broken when the rest of her friends came out of the locker room dressed in the team's uniform.
"Jeez Kara, it's not like those tanks are going anywhere without a driver.... Besides! We are really early! I'm pretty sure we might even beet the student council to the orientation meeting in front of the depot." said a blond haired girl in an annoyed German accent. Her name was Alica Hartmann, one Kara's first friends, and right hand friend. She had been a transfer student from Germany, and thanks to Kara, was able to pick up the language much faster. Suddenly a taller girl came up behind them and put her arms around each of there shoulders.
"Come on now, it's good to be early..... I think! I don't know, this is a first for me. Not sure if I'm liking the uniforms though, there a bit old fashioned if you ask me." The taller girl was Mari Itou, a senior who would rather spend her days playing her guitar than being in class. She let go of the two girls and turned to brown haired girl next to them "What do you think Kazumi, does this outfit work for me?"
Kazumi giggled slightly and nodded. "It looks fine Mari, you look good, all of us do. Rika even looks a bit older in it" she said, motioning to the quiet fifth member of their little group. Rika blushed a little and averted her gave, trying to hide behind her jacket's collar, with little success. "Shouldn't we get going?" she said, attempting to move the attention off of her.
"Your right Rika! Let's get going!" Kara yelled and began to run over to the front of the depot, her friends soon following her. At the front was a diverse line of tanks the school had acquired for the team. In front of the tanks was a small stage with a podium, and in front was a few rows of foldable chairs. Standing on the stage was a small group of students wearing the school's regular uniform. They were the student council. Another, older woman stood next to them, discussing with them something Kara couldn't make out. While Kara's crew took their seats, Kara ran up to the stage. "Hey Asuka! How have you been?" she said as she approached the little group. A fairly average looking girl with a red armband turned to Kara with a surprised expression on her face, but it soon changed into a soft smile.
"Kara! Your here early, shouldn't be surprised really, you always kept asking me if our school was going to have a Tankery team, well, here we are! Oh! This is Captain Makoto from the Self Defense Force, she's going to be showing you the ropes for Tankery." The captain gave a small nod to Kara, then the student president spoke again. "Go take your seat with the rest of your crew. The other tank teams including your new commander will be arriving soon enough to the orientation meeting." Kara nodded and went to sit down next to Alica. She looked over at the tanks behind the small stage. She was amazed by the diversity and unique qualities of each tank. Then her eyes fell upon the tank she would be commanding, the M18 Hellcat. In her eyes, it proudly stood along side its fellow tanks, looking fast and furious. Kara squirmed in her seat at the excitement of being in her tank, but received an elbow from Alica to calm down. Kara quickly composed herself and sat up straight. One thought entered her mind, summing up her future outlook of this new team.
