Mrs. Kennedy walked away and Florence groaned when Red called her 'babe' once more. He turned, walked away, swearing at Florence once more, and disappeared out of the school building. Florence turned in the opposite direction and walked out of the doors heading home rubbing her wrist along the way. When she got home she noticed the shoe rack and coat rack were both empty. Her mom was probably working nights again and wouldn't be home till three in the morning. Florence sighed and went to her room without eating anything. She didn't feel like it at all. She was tired and worn out for no reason in particular. She took off her clothes and dropped into bed falling asleep instantly.
The next school day was just as boring as the previous. She had no interesting lessons because after all a day without art class was absolutely horrible. It didn't help that they had Baldy last lesson that day too and Florence had to stay for even longer for the detention. She knew she was probably going to be doing them alone. There was no way in hell that Reid would turn up. When the bell rang for the end of he day, Florence dragged her feet across the floor and walked as slow as she could to Room 25 where Mrs. Kennedy taught her English. She frowned and walked into the room. "Nice to see you turned up Miss. White." Mrs. Kennedy said, casually. She knew that Florence would never skip a detention and she was also pretty sure this was her first detention. "You can sit down at the back along with the rest of the students," She waved her hand at a huge group of kids. Florence noticed tons of rebel kids either with black clothes and make up, barbie style outfits, or guys who Florence knew as pimps. Typical. "You can get a book out, do some classwork, or just sit there and be quiet. Detention ends in an hour." She was about to let Florence go when she added: "Have you seen Reid anywhere?" Florence shook her head and headed to the back of the class, the only empty desk with two chairs, and pulled out 'The Perks of Being A Wallflower'. She just hoped that Reid wouldn't come because that would mean they would have to sit together for a whole hour and that would be most unfortunate.
