I just watched The Black Cauldron, and now I know what I've been missing in the world of "older" Disney movies. I even learned there was a book, which I surely MUST read someday. But back to the point of things.
I've been truly inspired by the malevolence of the Horned King. The moment he popped onscreen I felt he would become one of my top movie villains of all time. And he has. And then it came to me. "His castle looks to be quite chaotic. Those guys in the dining hall looked like fun people. I bet this would make a good roleplay!"
So, here's my idea. Why don't we do an rp that takes a closer look at the villain? Take a look at what he (and his servants) were experiencing during the time of the hero's break-in. This would be similar to a family rp, but in the style of a monarchy. We would have a king/ruler, servants, guards, and maybe even a few "family members" to the ruler of the castle. Who knows, he might have his eye on that special little guardswoman outside the dungeons...
But don't be fooled by the personal villain focus. We WILL have a plot, and it WILL feature a hero. The idea is similar to the motives of the Horned King from the Black Cauldron:
1.) Find an ultimate artifact that will aid in ruling the world
2.) Rule the world
3.) Meet with hero at some point in-between and either succeed or fail.
Here are the roles that are to be available when this takes off. I will update these roles so that you'll know what's taken, and what's not.
King/Master - One of our main guys to focus on. The name says it all; He rules over a castle, treats his servants like crap, and is the true entity of evil itself. But even the coldblooded path of evil can have room for feelings, such as depression, anger, and madness. Taken by Wolfbat9008 (because I'm selfish).
Queen/Mistress - Another main character. The Mistress is meant to comfort her husband during times of need, as well as actually defend him during battle. She is almost as cruel as her husband, and will actually be required to wield a weapon skillfully in order to keep her place. She defends the Master with her life. Open.
Offspring - This role is entirely optional, although quite important and quite a focus should it be introduced. This role is basically that of a 16-year-old prince or princess, who will overtake the throne of the Master or Mistress when either dies. They are susceptible to influence by anyone, even servants or heroes. So you can be the son or daughter of the Master, but be against him in the fight between good and evil. Taken by LJCOMICS.
Servants - Servants are pretty self-explanatory. They serve to take care of the castle, thwart the hero, cook the food, even do laundry. They are often treated like dirt, but if you swallow your pride and become an unquestionably faithful servant (and you just don't irritate anyone), you will get much better treatment. If you're of the opposite sex, there's even a tiny chance the Master will flirt with you. He's not particularly faithful to his wife. Always open. Three spots taken by UnendingEmpire (court necromancer), BigPapaBelial (Executioner), and ActRaiser (Traitor from the Hero Side).
Pets - Yes, even pets are a role in this castle. We haven't decided a setting yet, but the possible pet options will certainly be many. Most pets of the Master are probably going to be talking animals, mythical creatures or just really intelligent. However, some servants with certain privileges can be allowed pets as well; Do enough dishes and you can keep that stray cat you found in your trash yesterday. Several spots are Open, none taken yet.
Hero - The hero is supposed to stop the Master and his evil ways, like most heroes often do. He is righteous, valiant and brave, and willing to sacrifice himself to save others. The hero gets one artifact to fight the evil powers of the Master with, and he gets companions that are the equivalent to Pets and Servants. The only difference is that they will be referred to as something else int he character sheets. Pets are called "Companions" and servants are called "Allies". The Hero is allowed to try and influence the Offspring of the Master, trying to turn him good. Open, can have three Allies or Companions at one time.
So, who's with me? PS, I want to get this done rather quickly, before I get bored. This thread could get abandoned rather quickly if not enough interest is gathered, just a heads up.
