Liam was excited he was on one of the biggest charter ships that an Earthling had ever seen. And, Naturally it wasn't because the ship could simulate beaches.
"Liam, we'll be in Simulation room 01 til 3. Don't be late okay? I know you like exploring but it's a FAMILY vacation. Got it?"
Liam brushed back his brown hair. "Yeah Alright, Mom."
"Good."As she shuffled off with Liam's father, Liam took that opportunity to enter the virtual simulation room 03. To his surprise nobody else was there (which wasn't really all that surprising given that this simulator was a battle simulation room). Liam clicked on the blue rooms interface and was greeted with a "Hello, Welcome to Aquarion's Battle Interphase. Choose your level of difficulty."
Liam shrugged. "Let's just go with normal difficulty."
"As you command... Weapon of choice?"
"Any blade you can throw at me."
"...Acceptable. Rune Blade acquired."
Just as the computer said, a blade materialized within his hand, and his clothes changed from a regular t-shirt and shorts, to a spandex suit complete with padded armor.
Much better than my home battle simulator..., Liam thought. Two seconds later an enemy monster appeared in the form of a giant spider. This completely grossed Liam out because he had an irrational fear of spiders. As he ran to charge it, it side swept him and Liam went barreling into the wall.
"Ow..."He rubbed his head and decided he'd take a different route.
"EARTH GLAIVE!"Liam said as he threw his hand in fron of him. A rock landed right on top of the spider and crushed it.
"Success. Round two."
"R-round two?"And this was normal setting?
Three brown spiders appeared in place of one, but instead of standing to the side they came at him at once full throttle. "Arrrgghhh."Liam belted out as he was swarmed and pummled by the spiders.
"Simulation End. You Lose."
Liam sighed. "Yeah yeah..."At that very second the whole ship shook. Red Alarms blared and lit up the dimly lit simulation room.
"CODE 8 THIS IS NOT A DRILL. EVERYONE IS TO FIND AN EVACUATION POD."The intercom screeched.
Liam was confused. Code 8? That was the code read if the ship was being attacked. But how was that possible? They were in federation territory and a time of peace. The only beings the federation was semi hostile with was with the Vandeens but surely they wouldn't be attacking a cruise ship. There was no reason to...
Liam quickly shuffled out of the battle simulation room and with it his clothes returned back to normal. He pushed his glasses up as they began to fall off and ran towards sim room 01.
As Liam ran he heard whispers from other people. "Mommy im scared!" "What's going on?" "Are we going to die?" Liam tried to ignore it as he finally reached the hallway leading to where his parents should be. As soon as he entered, somebody grabbed his shirt.
Liam spun around to see his mother.
"I'm glad you're okay. Dad what's going on?"
"Don't know son but we need to get to the pods okay?"
"Alright." They stuck close but the ship kept shaking. When in a connecting room a pipe line fell as the ship was attacked with another energy burst. Liam was at the head and now his parents were blocked off. "Keep going son! There's another escape pod room if we double back. We'll meet up in no time, alright?" Liam slowly nodded. He refused to get upset, or rather he had no tme to be. As he ran towards the pods a crew member was helping people to line up and enter. When Liam finally entered his pod, the crew member stopped him.
"You're from Earth right? Please give this letter to my wife...Never thought i wouldn't be able to see her again..." Liam solemnly nodded, and entered the pod. At the same time, the Captains voice blared through the intercom. "Crew Members, this is probably the last time i'll be able to address you. I can honestly say i've lived with no regrets having a crew as great and as brave as you. Thank you for getting the people to safety..."
With that, Liams Pod ejected. Through the 3-D screen he could see the ship getting attacked and shot at by what looked like a black Vandeen ship. Lasers blared and as the ship tried it's best to fight back, it wasn't close to caring the fire power to destroy a battle ship. Liam hoped his parents were in one of the many pods evacuating, but as for now, he was on a course for who knows where.
