Clearwood Academy OOC
The most curious thing about the Institute so far was getting there. They had taken the London Subway, but the train stopped midway in the tunnel. While it was stopped, everyone in the back car was told by a conductor to exit and follow him. With the group disembarked and the train back on its way, the conductor had led them through a side door, a short tunnel, and to what looked like another small train station. The station looked clean and functional while the train itself was a two-car bullet train that was much sleeker than the ones that ran through the metro itself. It was safe to say that all of the other people here were students or from the Institute, but everyone entered the train and rode it silently, unsure of what was going on.
After a few minutes, the train exited a tunnel and into a spare woods. Open nature replaced black tunnels in the window like a viscous wave, clearing the darkened concrete out of view in an instant. The further they went, the thicker the woods became. At one point, the forest seemed as dark as the tunnels were. But just as abruptly as tunnel became woods, the train slowed into a smooth glide and burst into an open area. To their left lay an enormous four storied glass building with a glass front, easily spanning multiple football fields. To the right of that lay a road which, presumably, led to the Academy, as a bus was waiting for them at the platform.
When train stopped at the platform, a simple raised concrete structure with a metal roof, the doors opened with a gentle hiss. But before everyone could file out the door, a man came out of the door from the front care wearing a grey pin-stripe suit. He was clearly in his fifties, but he seemed to be aging well. His grey-streaked black hair was tied back tight into a pony-tail and he wore the face of a man who looked like he had done hard service of some sort. Despite his possibly fierce countenance, his broad smile and open arms set everyone at ease. He spoke in a smooth Received Pronunciation:
"Welcome to the Institute and Clearwood Academy! My name is Christopher Osborne, and I'm your director of Student Affairs at the Academy. My job is to make sure that your life here is without major trouble... well, except for schoolwork", he paused to chuckle at his joke before continuing, "So, today we are going to get on those buses and head to the Academy herself where you will be showed your dormitories. We will let you get settled there for a bit, and we will meet in the Common Hall in the evening for supper and a final orientation before classes tomorrow. Simple enough?". Not waiting for a response, he got off and shouted, "Let's get on with it, then!".
As the students entered the bus, people began to chatter for the first time...
