Melodie stands at 5"4 and weighs approximately 115 lbs. Her shoe size is 6-and-a-half, not that anyone ever wants to know her shoe size... With choppy black hair, weirdly pale skin and and reddish brown eyes, "creepy" is probably one of the first words picked to describe her. She doesn't blame them. Even she thinks she looks kind of creepy.
Melodie likes clothes, hats in particular -that's why she picked a job as a hatter, after all- so she's always decked out in rather fancy and elaborate clothes. If you ask, she'd tell you that she made them herself, which is, of course, true. A top hat is her trademark, mostly because she loves making them and has a different top hat for every day of the week. She only wears tap shoes, for some odd reason.
Melodie Henley is... an interesting character, to say the least. There's nothing she loves more than a good cup of tea, a nice hat and a set of pretty clothes to wear. She lives for fun, fun and more fun! Making clothes and hats is currently what appeals to her as "fun" along with throwing tea parties, so that's what she does, but she can be easily distracted if presented with something that seems like it would be more fun. She tends to do things on a whim and will not be persuaded to stick to a goal unless she thinks that there's more fun to be had by completing said goal. Aside from liking tea, she also really likes cake and cute things, and you can probably win her over by presenting her with some baked goods. Also, she really, really
Weapon(s) of Choice:
When Melodie can be persuaded to fight, she'll use a pair of very, very large scissors. She's actually surprisingly proficient with them. She also may or may not attempt to choke you with a roll of fabric. However, Melodie finds fighting boring and will likely make an excuse to run off if challenged.
Melodie was pretty young when the war happened. A frivolous child, she had no idea what to do when her parents succumbed to the insanity and burned down the house. She was saved by someone who had not yet succumbed and realized that there was still a child inside the burning building, however, she has no clue who it may have been. To be honest, she doesn't particularly care, either. After escaping the ruins of her house, she wandered the town, lost and alone for a while, before taking refuge in an abandoned hatter's shop. She later found the tailor himself underneath the counter: he seemed to have committed suicide when he went insane.
Alone in the hatter's shop with nothing but the hatter's dead body to keep her company, she quickly succumbed to the insanity and spent days on end crafting hats and clothing. The hatter's wife was long gone, but she had been very fond of baking and tea, so Melodie survived off nothing but cake and tea for the next couple of months as she made hats and clothing in great abundance. The silver fumes did nothing to help her insanity, and she quickly gained the nickname, "the Mad Hatter".
A couple months later, the insanity suddenly... went away. Oh, it was still there alright, lurking in the back of her mind and coming out to play every so often, but it wasn't nearly as prominent. Still, the nickname stuck. Melodie was of the personal opinion that she'd gotten bored of being insane and so went sane again. Even after going sane again, though, Melodie continued to love crafting hats and clothes and drinking tea and eating cake, and after the war ended she became the tailor and hatter of the town.
She's still pretty peculiar, though.
Melodie Henley has an extensive knowledge of teas and can bake any cake that you can name, mostly because of the fact that the only books in the hatter's shop are cook books, books detailing different types of tea, and tailoring books. She is an excellent tailor and hatter, and can brew a mean cup of tea as well. She can fight with a large pair of scissors but would prefer not to... and she can tap dance.
The Red Queen-
One of Melodie's best friends, Cyneric and Melodie share a love of fashionable and cute things. First meeting when Cyneric came to commission a hat and later to repair a torn dress, Melodie is very fond of Cyneric. He's quite a bit older -and taller- than her, but she loves to dress him up, and he's always the first one on her list when she decides to throw a tea party. She particularly likes that he brings her cake as thanks for her services, even after paying, as well as hangs around to drink tea with her, so she often sends him new products for his rather expert opinion on them.
Melodie rather likes Alex Liddel. First and foremost, she finds his feud with Cyneric absolutely hilarious,
and tends to sneakily encourage it for her own amusement. Of course, Alex doesn't know about this. Second, he's pretty close to her own age, which is cool too. He comes to lots of tea parties and wastes time with her and visits the shop a lot (and maybe he'd let her dress him up if she tried hard enough), so she thinks he's great!
They haven't met yet, but when they do meet, Melodie's sure to think that Toby's just positively adorable! She'll be just dying to dress him up. Maybe if she bribes him with enough carrots...?
The White Rabbit-
Melodie just doesn't much like the fact that Sera is apparently always "too busy" to talk to her. She never comes to the tea parties Melodie throws, either, nor will she stop to try on the clothes that Melodie makes. Other than that, though, Melodie doesn't really mind the White Rabbit. Hating her would be much too boring, anyway.
The White Queen-
Melodie doesn't particularly like the White Queen. Old Mrs. Quenton's not very nice, and she never sticks around for tea parties, so... well, anyway, Melodie tries to be vaguely polite to the old woman. Can't afford to lose a patron, after all!
Melodie has a phobia of deep water, for some unknown reason.
