Finally I can escape that wretched woman. A boy stood in his room alone. An empty box lied on the floor, its contents in the hands of this young man. At a glance it seemed to be nothing more than a helmet. This boy pushed a button on the top and it opened, revealing a small disc drive(similar to that of the game cube) He inserted a disc into the drive. One could hear it spinning inside the drive. He slipped the helmet on, and lied down on his bed. A screen popped up saying "Downloading." This stayed for a few minutes before saying "Download Complete, Running Program"
Immediately the boy lost all consciousness of the outside world, but was far from unconscious. A brief title screen appeared, it was a simple screen with a sword going through a cog with the words "Clockwork Lords Online" on top of and beneath the sword. Before long, he looked down to see a different, but a face to himself, in the reflection of a fountain. The ticking of a clock could be heard behind him. He turned around and saw the most rugged clock tower he had ever laid eyes on. The gears were all exposed. He had to admit, he thought it was pretty cool. However, his train of thought was scattered when he heard a sound similar to chimes going off and a small message appeared in front of him.
"Please Select Class"
He scrolled through the list debating which to choose. He had no plans to join anyone so supportive classes were out, and the idea of hiding behind armour was boring. His top choices were Swordsman, Night Stalker and Gunner. He looked around and saw few people choosing that class. He wanted to be different than the others, so he chose Gunner, and immediately, a holster appeared on the left side and a rapier in its sheath on his right. He gave little thought of his past. After all, it wasn't a gun who killed his mother, but the person wielding it. Now he was the one wielding it. He wondered how things would have been different had it been him holding the gun. However he was only six at the time. He looked around. The spawn seemed to be getting very crowded. He slid his finger across the air and opened a menu. Azel. That was the name that showed up. The name he chose. The name of someone other than himself, but still him.
He opened the Map. "Temper, Town of Origins. Reflection Pool" He looked over at the fountain. It was truly big. He assumed that was the Reflection Pool. It seemed to him that the northern fields were crowded too. However there was a smaller field to the south which seemed virtually empty.
"Geez people, don't you ever use what is given to you" However now was no time for brooding. He needed to get the hang of the game. He hurried to the field, and accidentally snubbed someone. Ie gave it no attention and continued on his way.
As he approached the field he retrieved his pistol and aimed it a boar(Yeah yeah I know. But it really is a good first monster). It only grazed the thing, and soon it came rushing at him. He was unaware of this at the time, as he tried to reload his pistol. He had put in the little bag of gun powder already, when the thing rammed into him. His naturally low defense made him loose a fourth of his health already. Had he been paying attention, he would have had no problem dodging. He picked himself up and looked at the beast. It had a decent amount of health left, and was readying to charge again. He drew his rapier. He should have done this in the first place. As the boar came rushing at him, he felt his hand become almost one with the sword, and he lunged forward, piercing the boar. It had a small amount of health left. He quickly dropped the bullet in and turned to shoot it. A bang was heard and a screen showed up. It had given him a little experience and the boar had dropped "Boar Ham." Already he was enjoying this new world.
