When the gate opened and the Goa'uld entered the SGC in 2010. O'Neill refused reinstatement due to his age and as such didn't return to the SGC, so only Kowalski prevented the bomb from going through the gate to Abydos. His team now designated SG-1 traveled through the gate and brought Daniel Jackson back after they had discovered the Cartouche which was recorded and set up for further study. After the attack on Abydos they realized that they could not close the gate now that they had been discovered. The only reason the mission to Chulak was approved was for the information that could be gathered on enemy defenses.
However the mission would be very different, considering that after the mission to Abydos the Stargate was moved to a new larger facility controlled by the US.Army, though the Air Force technically retains control of the gate. The Stargate became a joint venture between the different branches of the military with Navy Marines, Army and Air Force special forces. The new gate room was also very different, it had the standard two corridors into the gateroom at either side however instead of a ramp the gate was placed into the ground, a ramp was there however and could be raised and lowered with the gate if necessary. The gate could also be tilted to several orientations. Where the gateroom window resided in the Cheyenne mountain complex there was a large door, inside it there were several bays in loaded with vehicles up to and including M1 Abrams tanks.
-Carter remained purely logistics and due to her missing the Abydos mission she spent the time perfecting the targeting computer preventing the freezing sensation and stopped anyone stepping through the Earth gate from being thrown across the room. She has already calculated several possible gate addresses in the month since the Abydos mission however Stargate Commands commanding officer General Williams has kept the gate in active until the facility was completed, much to the dismay of Daniel Jackson.
-Jackson has been voicing his concerns ever since he has returned from Abydos trying to force the military into action to save his wife. However as he has a young child he has decided that he should stay in an advisory capacity.
-Teal'c while reluctant to do so has remained First Prime off Apophis much like Bre'tak remained in his service despite his knowledge that the Goa'uld are not gods.
Now that I have done that. Basically this is a new beginning, the Goa'uld are still at large and the SGC is far more militant. Each exploration team will be sent out in a Humvee with a .50 caliber machine gun on top. When teams need rescued rather than throwing more infantry at them, and for base raids. We'll bring out the big guns, M2 Linebackers and Bradleys. M1 Abrams. Hell, when the Rotor of an Apache is folded up it can fit through the gate so if the gate is secure we can get air support easily.
However while we will have the initial advantage after time the Goa'uld will start bringing more than Jaffa and Death Gliders to bear. Bringing back the Needle Fighter and developing vehicles of their own. The advantage our vehicles have will be short lived.
Sam Carter will be a lab tech, sometimes working the Gateroom computers or advising SG teams.
Daniel Jackson will go off world to secured planets only other than that he will only be present in some debriefs or will be asked specific questions.
O'Neill isn't in this.
Teal'c will be found when we get closer to Apophis.
SG-1 will be none playable due to the fact that it will be lead by Kowalski. They will be the team that if someone constructs a no-win scenario will turn up and save the day.
Characters from tank drivers, lab techs, engineers, soldiers, cultural buffs, military scientists are all acceptable.
How we will lay it out:
There are two ways we can lay this out. Like in my signature (Legacy of the Sith) where we are in a group with the SGC as our main IC hub and then if a team goes off world they post in a separate discussion so that people on another planet do not need to read it and don't get mixed up. Alternatively we can put all our posts in hiders named after what planet we are on. Or we can do it in a good old fashioned thread.
If you have an idea feel free to post it.
No, I am not doing multiverse.
